This book has brilliant bright illustrations and would be perfect for children in FS and KS1. It teaches that kindness is important and that actually the animals are beautiful themselves without all the colourful accessories which get blown away in the storm. It’s not too long so it would be suitable as a read aloud class story.

We definitely need more books that send the message of self love and kindness. This book follows the story was animals who are insecure about certain aspects of themselves. While they change their features to be crowned the most beautiful at the jungle jamboree, the firefly flies around appreciating the beauty all around him.
