The Pancake House Mysteries are light, cozy mysteries perfect for a waiting room, beach read or a lazy evening in. In Crepe Expectations the amateur sleuth, Marley, owns the local Pancake House in charming Wildwood Cove. When she and her landscaper boyfriend come across human remains along a river bank, a cold case turns hot. The remains are of a young eighteen-year old girl who vanished a decade before. Who was she? What happened to her? Why did her remains show up now? These are all questions ...more

I enjoy this series as it is a light fun read. Marley is one of those characters that no matter where she is or what she is doing she is going to discover a dead body. This time, she literally stumbles over the body of a young woman who has been missing for over a decade. Because of the age of the crime, the police have to re-investigate all this time later. Marley being who she is cannot help but decide she needs to investigate herself. After all, the victim graduated in the same class as her b ...more

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book.

As always with cozy mystery, it's not hard to pick one up at any point in the series and enjoy it. This was the case here; I instantly felt at home with the characters and the setting despite only having read one other in this series. I liked the main character, which is always a plus. The mystery itself reminded me of one I'd read a few months back, but then with the sheer amount of cozies I read that in itself isn't surp

A relaxing fun read is found in the fifth book of the Pancake House Mysteries. It is springtime in Wildwood Cove and Marley McKinney, is involved in a couple of events? The spring floods have revealed the body of eighteen-year-old Demetra Koza, who everyone believes had moved to New York City for a modeling career, ten years ago. Her friends formed a group of girls that included Brett's sister and the sheriff believed it was one of these was the killer. The other event is the annual amateur chef ...more

I enjoyed this mystery. It is the first book I read by Sarah Fox although it is the 5th book into the series. I did not feel as though I missed anything by jumping in so late. The mystery was well done with a couple of mini mysteries popping up. This enhanced the story for me. I think one of the mysteries might have been spun off of prior books, (not at all certain of this), but the second was solely related to this one. I like the characters and friendships. I do want to go back and read the pr ...more

Crêpe Expectations by Sarah Fox is the fifth book in the Pancake House Mystery series but the first I’ve had a chance to read. This delightful cozy mystery was easily read as a standalone and I never felt lost by not knowing all the central characters and their backstory. That said, it did make me want to start the series from the very beginning for the pure enjoyment of seeing the growth of the protagonist, Marley McKinney, along with the supporting characters. They were all well-developed and ...more

Crêpe Expectations is the fifth book in Sarah Fox’s Pancake House Mystery series. The writing style flows smoothly. This book is a quick and easy read with a great cast of well-developed characters. The mystery is well plotted and has enough suspects, red herrings, and twists and turns to make it difficult to figure out who committed the murder and other crimes.

Marley McKinney owns The Flip Side pancake house in Wildwood Cove, has an orange tabby named Flapjack, and the unfortunate habit of find

I won this Kindle book in a Goodreads Firstreads giveaway. It was a great cozy mystery, I only wish that I had read the previous 4 first. Likeable characters, an interesting community, pets and baking...pretty much all of my necessities for this genre. I look forward to reading more of this author's work.

This book was the first I have ever read by Sarah Fox. It had all the classic elements you would see in a cozy mystery: fantastic storyline, likeable characters and of course, a murder. However, this murder was different as it happened in the distant past. It did not disappoint! I look forward to reading more by this author!

Bringing a snack to boyfriend Brett, Marley spots a kitten and give chase as it flees into the woods. When the two finally capture the tiny black bundle of fur, Marley points to a human skull partially buried in mud.

The body is identified as Demetra Kozani, an 18-year-old girl who disappeared over 10 years ago, after a post high school graduation party. Marley’s friend and Brett’s sister, Chloe is a suspect since she had a loud argument with Demetra at the party. As Marely begins nosing around o

Demetra didn't move to New York 10 years ago- because she was murdered! Marley and her boyfriend Brett discover her bones and then more. Demetra was a good friend of Brett's sister Chloe, who is a suspect in the murder. Regular cozy readers know that Marley's going to investigate and that the killer will be a surprise. The charm of this series is in the characters and in the other plot lines, in this case a cooking contest. Marley's pancake house seems like a fun place to visit (even if there ar ...more

A well-written cozy. I recommend reading this in series order to learn the backgrounds of the main characters so you can understand their decisions and actions in Crepe Expectations.

A cold case surfaces with a skull and everyone from Wildwood Cove's old graduating class becomes a suspect, including Marley McKinney's boyfriend's sister, Chloe. As Marley investigates during a county wide amateur cook-off she finds herself facing a personal dilemma. A happy ever after to begin the next book in this

People poisoned at an amateur chef competition and the discovery of an old skeleton give Marley something to keep herself busier than normal. I like how new characters, that could be recurring, along with the foundational characters continue to evolve. I am getting weary of older crimes being uncovered. Seems rather repetitive from the previous book in the series and makes you wonder if Ms. Fox is already running out of ideas. What hasn't gotten repetitive is the yummy creations that are served ...more

I like the Pancake House Mystery series, and this one felt a little more thoroughly plotted--a bit more complex--than the previous books. Yay! While I enjoy a culinary mystery, I also liked the fact that this book was not dominated by recipes and descriptions of the cooking process. Marley is a small business owner, and the pancake shop is definitely in the background of this one. Fox did a great job of bringing back old mysteries and relationships into the present day, and weaving together the ...more

Marley and Brett find a skull in the woods. Once again while Marley says she is going to stay out of it, she becomes involved. (Wouldn't be much of a cozy mystery if she didn't). Someone also is suspected of making folks sick at the amateur chef competition so Marley gets involved in that as well. This series is always a fast and fun read, with recipes in the back regarding the crepes that are mentioned in the book.

This series just keeps getting better and better!! Loved this latest book! Marley and Brett come upon human remains. They turn out to be the remains of a classmate of Brett's sister, Chloe. Also, a cooking competition is going on. A few people get sick during the competition and it's unclear if it is related to the murder. Lots of suspects, which made it fun to figure out the killer. I love the characters, the charming seaside town and the delicious sounding food. I just want to step right into ...more

This was really good! I can see wildwood cove in my head from the description. Marley finds the remains of a girl who disappeared years earlier and gets involved in finding out who killed her. I did not figure out the killer and actually had a couple of people in mind. This is book 5 but I figured out who was connected to who really fast and had no problem . Now I need to go back and read the earlier books.

I would like to thank Goodreads for my e-copy.

Crepe Expectations is a delightful mystery/love story. Very G rated and entertaining. The dog, Bentley, and the cat, Flapjack or Jack, are reoccurring characters. Marley and Brett are just adorable and sweet to each other. An added bonus is that there are 3 recipes in the back of the book one of which is Boston Creme Crepes...Can't wait to try those!! YUM

I still don't care for how Marley appears way more nosy busybodish than she does amateur detective. Scheduling appointments to have people go over where they were during the time a crime was committed? I'd tell you to kick rocks. Regardless, I do enjoy the characters as a whole, the plot was fun, and I loved the surprise ending. Can't wait for the next one!

Thank you Netgalley, for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was absolutely thrilled have book number five in the series to read. I am guaranteed a great read from this series, I am never disappointed!
