Sometimes even destiny needs a little bit of help.

To Justine, anyway. Especially when she learns Nick is an astrological devotee, whose decisions are guided by the stars, and more specifical

This book will be popular, and if it is made into a movie, it will be a success. It is well written and the conceit of the star signs and the turn of the astrological calendar was amusing. And there is just enough of an off-beat tone to not risk being completely schmaltzy.

I felt that there were a few too many missed opportunities in this story for me to give it a higher rating than three stars. This story could have said a whole lot more about the interconnectedness of us all and about how our a

For fans of Love, Actually; astrology; The Rosie Project

Doing for Valentine's Day, as Love, Actually does for Christmas, this rom com of Star crossed lovers is a typically bumpy emotional ride, but hang in there, it all comes together at the end!

A lovely modern Australian romantic comedy, this has movie written all over it. Set in a made up city, think Hobart mashed with Melbourne, you'll fall in love with the characters, and maybe even come to believe in astrology... Well, maybe I won't go that

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It's full of laugh-out-loud antics, awkwardness, and angst. Darke does a fantastic job of creating characters who are so flawed as to be relatable, but loveable at the same time. The story is also unique in that, in one sense, it's many stories that weave throughout an overarching love story. They all come together in a satisfying finale. Absolutely wonderful!

Star Crossed by Minnie Darke has a very engaging opening chapter leaving the reader wanting more. Following the star signs for a year the lives of principle characters Justine Carmichael, Sagittarius and cadet journalist, and Nick Jordan, Aquarius and promising actor, unfold. Having been childhood friends and a one night romance as fourteen year olds, they reconnect when they accidentally meet in the city. Soon Nick is living in an adjacent apartment block and their comfortable friendship resume ...more

This book was absolutely gorgeous! It was charmingly Australian and comfortingly authentic like a lamington and a cup of tea. It's amazing how much difference a well written piece of 'chic lit' makes to the genre. I loved the two core characters of course, but I also thoroughly enjoyed all the peripheral characters that were linked only by fate and star signs. It was exceptionally well crafted and really appealed to my mystery-loving brain. I also loved that none of the embarrassing moments were ...more

3.5 stars rounded up to 4

Justine and Nick are childhood friends who shared both the sandbox and one night of teenage romance. Now ten years have passed without contact until they unexpectedly run into each other. Their friendship is quickly rekindled and Justine's crush on Nick is as well. Unfortunately Nick has a supermodel almost-fiance and Justine has missed her chance at a grown-up romance with her childhood friend. Then again, Nick also makes most of his important life decisions based on hi

I’m not a believer in astrology at all, the concept seems incredibly nonsensical to but so are a great many things that humans believe in so never mind. That being said, this never requires you to believe, just to understand and accept that some people do.
The characters took a bit of bedding in for me, there was a lot of waiting to recognise names and personalities and working out who was going to be important but that settled down after a wee while and I found the main characters especially rel

Thank you #BRPreview for my advanced copy of Minnie Darke's, 'Star Crossed'... I absolutely loved reading this charming rom com. I fell in love with the novels main character, Justine Carmichael, from the beginning, but truly found a sweet spot for her meddling ways and oblivious lack of consideration for other Aquarians... except for her childhood BFF and crush, Nick Jordan. Minnie's crafty way with words made this a delightful, easy read, which I could not put down. One that draws you in hook, ...more

I really wanted to love this book. The idea behind it was so cute, but it just didn’t draw me in like I’d hoped. While I enjoyed the side stories about how the horoscope effected others, it just made the book feel a bit too choppy for me. I got invested in someone and then you didn’t hear about them again until the end where everything was wrapped up nicely. The story was there and I did enjoy it, but the choppiness threw off my reading vibes.

I received an advanced copy in exchange of an honest

I absolutely loved this book. It took me a while to finish because I became so emotionally invested in these characters that every time they did something stupid I had to put the book down out of frustration.

The writing is beautiful and gripping and the characters are completely relatable. It's incredibly hard not to fall in love with this book.

Star-crossed is a great fun read. It’s is about that butterfly effect, change one little star sign to attract the attention of your first love and it won’t harm anyone. Or will it? How does this change have an impact of the lives of others?
The book is well written and will become a favourite amongst Booklovers.
