Vignettes about people who have courageously risen above tragedy or circumstance to become the best they can be. You can't help but admire, and possibly cry for, these fine folks (some just kids). MOST unfortunately, time has taken its toll on this book...near the end is a chapter on creepy convict Jerry Sandusky, written before the Penn State scandal. It's revolting and makes you want to throw up, reading sentences such as "...he wanted to give these needy children what he knew they needed - attention, direction, and love." BARF.
