The core question posed by this book is if the Latter-day Saint people are preparing a kingdom for the Lord to rule upon His second coming, how should our congregations be functioning. As the author first put forth his proposition, the natural man in me felt resistant to the idea. Persistent reading on my part opened my eyes to the possibilities.
Each subject was handled with the same structure: a) the presentation of the issue followed by true relevant doctrine, b) a fictional representation (often based on real events) demonstrating the application of doctrine, followed by c) a recap.
Though some of the dialogue in the fictional segments sometimes felt a little stilted, I became caught up in the efforts of the various leaders to escalate the discipleship of those under their stewardship.
This is a book I will refer to regular as I move from position to position in the church.
