“My whole life, you’ve been making deals for my future—for my soul—with other people. Now you’re going to deal with me.”
The Prince of Hell has been gunning for a Silversbane heir for decades—a witch whose blood can summon the spirits of the most powerful magic-users ever to walk the earth.
A witch like me.
Thanks to a soul-shattering devil’s bargain, I’m now his most prized possession.
But I’ve got bigger fires to fight than the ones burning in hell.
My friends are still imprisoned. Hunters have joined forces with the dark fae, and the Council has turned their backs on us. One of my rebels is now forbidden to love me, and another can’t remember that he ever did. Mix in an epic betrayal and a few dark secrets, and I’m ready to burn it all down.
So yeah, maybe the Prince of Hell is used to closing deals and getting what he wants. But when it comes to this Silversbane witch?
Sarah Piper is a witchy, Tarot-card-slinging paranormal romance and urban fantasy author. Through her signature brew of dark magic, heart-pounding suspense, and steamy romance, Sarah promises a sexy, supernatural escape into a world where the magic is real, the monsters are sinfully hot, and the witches always get their magically-ever-afters.
Readers have dubbed her work “super sexy,” “imaginative and original,” “off-the-walls good,” and “delightfully wicked in the best ways,” a quote Sarah hopes will appear on her tombstone.
Originally from New York, Sarah now makes her home in northern Colorado with her husband (though that changes frequently) (the location, not the husband), where she spends her days sleeping like a vampire and her nights writing books, casting spells, gazing at the moon, playing with her ever-expanding collection of Tarot cards, binge-watching Supernatural (Team Dean!), and obsessing over the best way to brew a cup of tea.
Wow 😳... I can't believe the damn cliffhanger this author left me on!.. ohhhh but I'm so pleased that 5th book of this series was just released a couple of weeks ago.. Yay me!🎉😊 Now off to book 5 for me..
Things start off in a mess. While trying to bring Grey back from the Shadowlands, Rohan feels her soul being wrenched from her body, presumably to a hell dimension. So Liam has to make another deal with Sebastian to reunite her soul and body before it is irreversible. Meanwhile, Darius has no memories of anyone and has to be restrained for most of the book. Emilio is still trying to find the compound where the witches are being held and experimented on, but at least Asher is with them. Luckily, Grey is able to make her own deal with Sebastian (who now "owns" her) to help find the witches, free them, and see that her men are safe.
It's been at least a year since I read the previous book, so it took me a while to remember who was who and what happened previously. Now that I have that straight, I guess this plot was alright. Grey does a few things that further the plot, but I must say that this book didn't follow what I would have expected for an RH installment with regard to the sexy times. In fact, there weren't a whole lot of sexy times at all and things have actually gone backward in that regard. Grey still hasn't been intimate with everyone in her harem yet - Emilio! Despite spending some time with him and eating his brownies, she still hasn't done much but snuggle and kiss him. Asher spent another book in a cell, so no Grey for him. Liam is in the doghouse after admitting his dealings with Sebastian, and now she can't touch Rohan without burning her skin off. That leaves Darius, who feels a connection to her but doesn't remember her at all. All this does not lead to fun times, ya know? The next book better sort some of this shit out because the supernatural plot isn't good enough to keep things interesting for me.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
With the way the last book ended I was dying to get my hands on this one because I just had to know what happened next. First the have to Gray put back together since her spirit is one place and her body is in another after leaving the Shadowrealm. There is lots of crazy stuff going on as they figure it out and when they do we just get one doozy after another that I would have never been able to dream of. Lots of twists and turns that will leave you shaking your head wondering what will happen next and then you hit the last page making the wait even longer. This is gonna have one heck of a finale at this point. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
I gave Liam a chance. Gave Darius a chance. (It’s Darius right? Not Marcus?) Talking about the vamp. ANYWAY Hell I gave Emilio a chance.
I mean it’s book 4 AND HE HASN’T EVEN TOUCHED TONGUES WITH HER.
I enjoyed the earlier books.
This one took a turn... for the worse.
DONE.
There are so many realms and it’s like her body is in Realm A and her soul is on realm B and oops shit her sense of reality was left at the crossroads WELCOME TO HELL where is she????
Is Emelio even part of the story? Are the witches still an issue.
My goodness, this book was the very definitely of “one step forward, two steps back”. Relationships develop and are then ripped away so cruelly. I really can’t fathom how this will carry on. I was ragged back and forth during this entire experience. Let’s see what happens ay
Four books in and chunks of main plot are still getting thrown out like “oh btw this is an issue too”. State the full issue and start fixing, good lord. I found myself skipping over the political intrigue and mom talk due to its sudden and explosive appearance. I think I’m just too late in the game to become invested in another subplot.
Removed a star due to cliffhanger that includes possible main character death. Cliffhanger me all day, but don’t play with my emotions.
And my mind. I took my time reading this book because I was afraid. I've gotten to know, connect with, and fall in love with these characters from the start. When I become so invested in a strong story and characters, my fear surfaces and I avoid, I didn't want to know, didn't want their story to end. There is still more to go, thank goodness. Sarah has the uncanny ability to tear your heart out, and piece it back together again, over and over. Gray and the guys have been through so much, traversed so many paths, so many realms and the path still remains uncertain and uphill. Triumphs and beautiful moments, but so much heartache and pain, as well. God, I knew it would be rough, but I find myself heartsick and wishing the next book was here already. It's so worth the pain. This story has become so much more than a mysterious urban fantasy. It's amazing how quickly an author can write their characters right into your heart. Beautiful, the next book can't come soon enough!
5 stars for Blood Cursed by Sarah Piper. This is book four in The Witch’s Rebels series. Let me start by saying this is another fantastic cover. Ok now on to the book. The book picks up right where the cliffy in book three left us. Everything is a mess and Gray’s soul is lost in hell. Rohan made a deal with Sebastian that breaks my heart(along with Grays). However, Gray learns more truths about Liam and let me just say I shed some tears. She finally becomes the bada** I knew she was. She faces Sebastian herself. This book had less sexy times but was more about Gray growing emotionally. It ends in another cliffy. Bring on Book five.
Not sure how Gray can still be standing after all the hits she took in this book. Though I did get a bit irritated with her perpetual hope. There’s a major cliffhanger and no HFN in this book. Kinda depressing actually. Very well written as all other books. Just, gah.
So much heart break in this story. My heart can’t take it!!! 😩😩 This review may contain some vague spoilers. Gray has returned from the Shadowrealm and Hell. She has learned so much about her past with her mother, father, and 3 sisters who she knew nothing about. There were so many revelations in this book that I honestly don’t even know where to start and I know if I try to list them all, I’ll miss a few.
Even though Gray has returned to the material plane, she has lost so much that is dear to her in order to get there. Most of her losses are because of Sebastian and his never ending deals with her men. Darius has lost his memories while fighting to save her from the memory eaters in the Shadowrealm. Ronan has bargained his love for Gray in order to save her from the Shadowrealm and now they cannot touch without being burned. Liam has agreed to burn her life scroll to get her out of Hell which means she’s technically dead on paper which is all Sebastian needs to stake his claim on Gray. Then there is Emilio at the end of this book. So many omissions and lies from her men because they thought they were doing what was best for her and protecting her. Even though Gray has just been dealt the crappiest hand possible, she is determined to break the rules of natural order to get her family back. She is determined to rescue the kidnapped witches and save the supernatural world from the upcoming war.
Even though this book was full of drama and heartbreak for the main character, I have to say this was my favorite book so far in this series. So much drama, action, revelations, heartbreak, and love in this book. I am anxious to see what happens next and how Gray will ultimately prevail with all of her men at her side.
the spirits of the most powerful magic-users ever to walk the earth. Everyone seemed to know already but finally Gray knows why everyone was so eager to possess her soul. She is the Silversbane Heir. And the Prince of Hell owns her soul. But he doesn’t have possession of it yet and he will never have the control he deems as his. Gray will find a way to get out of the deal she never made. But before she can best the devil, she has to rescue her friends and save the world from the hunters and dark fae.
My least favorite book of the series. This isn’t even a case of one step forward, two steps back. At best Gray and her Rebels are shuffling sideways before getting knocked back half a dozen steps. It’s too much. I am all for challenges but sometimes you need a win to stay invested. Stop throwing new problems at them and let them have a win here and there, and maybe a minute of downtime. However, that downtime should NOT be when they are facing a crisis or lives are on the line. I have never seen an author who decides conversations should take place at such inopportune times. It’s absurd. The romance is sputtering. Emilio deserved more. Gray’s most romantic man and there was no romance to their first time. Disappointing. Ash didn’t get much better treatment but at least there was a reason. While I’m on a roll, can I say how much it makes me cringe each time Gray refers to her men as her Rebels? I wish the author hadn't come up with that title for the group. Who does that? Finally, the cliffhanger was easy to dismiss. We all know she’s not going to kill off a major character. We do know she loves deals, so I can only guess, another bargain will be made with the devil and the group will end up in even worse shape. I can only hope the next book improves.
Very disappointed. The first book had so much potential and the second one was pretty good too!
This felt like she was in a rush to complete the book and decided to write a million chapters about the shadow realm to quickly make the book longer and then threw in some new plots... then the main plot, THE TRAPPED AND ABUSED WITCHES was left to the very end and was over very quickly!
Also, speaking of quick, she rushed through the romance, too. I understood the quickie with Ash because they were in a situation... but Emilio?? He’s portrayed as this sweet romantic that takes his time. His romance scene didn’t have any build up, no foreplay, and it was over in the blink of an eye! She has been putting him off for 3 books and when it finally happens, that’s all we get? SMH. I will give book 5 a try, but if it’s anything like this one, I’m done with this series. Makes me sad, because it has such great potential!!
Shocking, Disturbing & Yet Full Of Love & Bravery!!😱😞😭💘🙏🐾 (Read using Kindle Unlimited)
Wow, this series just keeps you on the edge of your seat with your heart in your mouth in terror, heart break or hope!!😍 We learn so much during this book. About Gray's past & the true Prophecy but also the betrayals that have occured!!😔💔
Gray finally has her chance to finish her bonding with Emilio 💘 Its as romantic, sweet & sexy as you'd expect from him too!🔥😍🔥 Darius, as he was, is still lost 😭 Liam/Death is recalled to his duties 👀💀 Asher & the Witches are all still missing. Ronan .... His last deal with Sebastian has broken what he & Gray have!💔😭
The battle to save Asher & Witches comes at a huge cost!!😱💔😭 On to book #5 without delay!🌟
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I honestly have all the words but also no words at the same time, how can one book and series make me feel SO much!?! I am once again so impressed with Sarah Piper’s talent and the connection I have with these characters.
This book was beautiful, but so so tough. There was so much heartbreak, angst, betrayal, pain and utter devastation that at one point I honestly thought how on earth are Gray and her guys going to get through this!? I still feel like that, especially after that ending where I just burst in to tears but I REFUSE to believe that’s it and I am for sure trusting the process here because it has to be okay!!!
After Ronan grabs Darius and Gray and jumps into the portal of Hell, he realizes his biggest fears have come to life. Gray is now in Hell without her soul and Darius has no memories of the man he was or the love of his life. Gray has nowhere to go and actually accepts that this is her life now, but unexpected alliances are created and Gray finds out more about her past, her mother, and the secrets of her bloodline. Without giving too much more away, Piper truly has created an amazing series that just keeps you begging and the twists and turns are just enough to pull you in deeper.
Still got a full board of villains & doom plots....really gonna need you to eliminate at the bare minimum- two of those.
Also, I honestly don’t understand the thing with death. Why can’t she just wait until she’s old & then take up the mantle or whatever? Does the deal leave no room for her changing her mind? Liam’s just stuck? For going on & on about how much she loves him that sure is a little bit overboard in terms of revenge, no?
Also, why not use that as the bargaining chip with Sebastian? Do what I want or I’ll take up death’s mantle...the end.
For such a supposed bad ass, she relies on her men WAY TOO MUCH!!!!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Wow. That ending is heartbreaking! But I hold out hope! Can’t believe the dirty tricks Sebastian does in this book. After everything Gray goes through to still end up in the same predicament. Poor Gray, all the truths that come to light in this book is just heart wrenching. Truth about her family lineage. And truths about Liam’s secrets and some even Ronan hid. I can’t believe what they did. But I’m with you Gray hope remains. It’s never over till it’s over. There’s always loopholes to any deal no matter how bleak it may look!!!
“I want a guarantee.” “You don’t get one. Not in this life. Not for anything. You get hope. And when you do, you fucking take it, because hope is as precious a gift as anyone can offer.”
Omg this series….
Normally I would review books as I go, but I devoured this series so quickly it became one book to me 😂🙈
If you love a kick-ass heroine, several swoon worthy supernatural men, and an end of the world story line, then this is the series for you!
Grey is a great main character, she has all the sass and passion you need, yes she makes some questionable decisions, but does that stop you loving her? Not at all.
The guys are amazing 🥵 the smut is on point!
If you need a smutty, binge read then this is the one!
Plot - 4/5 Character Development - 4/5 Pacing - 4/5 Escapism Factor - 4/5 Emotional Connection - 4/5 Smut -🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love this series and this book was no different. This one was a little slow at the start but the twists and turns later on make up for it! The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger and utterly heart wrenching. I cried many times in this book, the characters just back e so likeable and the struggles, pain and loss then endure broke my heart. I can't wait to read the next book.
So many obstacles! The story gets more involved and the twists just keep coming for Gray and her men. I’m glad that they get back together in this book, but MAN are there more ways to keep them apart than just physically. No spoilers, but my heart went on a never ending roller coaster through each obstacle with each guy and instance. And with that ending? I almost don’t want to know what else could go wrong. *Sigh* BUT I’ve gotta know...on to book 5!
3.5 stars I like the story and the characters are fun I just feel like the story lags on at times. I’m listening to the audio version so I’m not sure if this is as annoying when you’re reading it but every time somebody “closes their eyes” it drives me batty because it happens so often and then the song from the greatest showman gets stuck in my head. Only two left in the series I believe so I’m pretty sure I’ll finish it
This book had so many twists and turns. This was a really tough book! So much heart breaking things happening to Gray and her guys. Just when she starts to find answers, so many other things turn up. Gray had to make some very difficult decisions due to a stupid guy and Sebastian and his never ending trickery! Gray is finally coming into her own…
What a crazy ending to this book! Now to book 5 definitely recommend this book…
This book man. Cliffhanger from hell literally and not.
Gray gets out of hell. We find out more about her home life with her birth mother. She has sisters and a legacy. Ronan, my poor baby, gives up a lot to get Gray out of the shadow realm and now understands the full implications of what he has done. Oh man this book is worth the read.
I’m going to be reading book 5 next and I cannot wait to find out more!
I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title. (Audible Membership)
Life as she knew it had changed, she had options, but really, in the end, she had to suck it up and make the most out of what was the best of a bad lot of options. However, she hadn't survived two other realms to let others dictate her life. She had a destiny to fulfil, and she's just really got started.
Great story just grab tissues & be ready to have your heart ripped out.
Overall: 4 out of 5 stars, Performance: 5 out of 5 stars, Story: 4 out of 5 stars Reviewed: 02-28-24
Such a strong heroine! Battling her fears, losses, & overcoming tragedy. This girl is tenacious & refuses to give up or give in - always paving her own path & finding the hope in a hopeless situation. The ending… heart wrenching. Get ready to be devastated.
What a wild ride! This was the best book of the series to date. This book was an emotional rollercoaster on a whole new level. The cliffhanger at the end is even worse then the last book but I will be eagerly anticipating book 5. Five stars just isn't enough. Simply perfect.
I love that each book in the series picks up where the last left off. This series has really developed and the world that it's set in is morphing with each book. The growth of Gray and the other characters is fantastic. This book definitely pulled on my heartstrings and I'm hoping that everything isn't how it seems
