HOT DAMN!!! This was one disturbingly dark and addictive read!

This book was claustrophobic, atmospheric, and completely engrossing.... some books you read and some books you live, this was definitely the latter... I was on pins and needles throughout this book, breathing every breath and feeling every fear write along with Ella...

Ella has a secret, a secret so dark that it has her trapped in her own life... work Eat Sleep Repeat.... no social life, no friends, no romantic entanglements, but it i

I want to preface this review by stating that I do not remember requesting this book from NetGalley. Let this serve as a warning kids, don't drink and NetGalley. on to the review...

This thriller was slightly above mediocre for me. Though the premise is tired and cliché at best, it does include a bit of novelty when compared to others with similar plotlines.

As described in the synopsis, Ella awakes in the hospital after a hit and run only to find a man, Jacob, claiming to be her husband

Dark and entrancing, this is like reading someone’s worst nightmare unfold on the pages! I couldn’t believe what was happening to Ella, and I couldn’t wait to find out if she’d ever get herself out of this situation. Expect a few really great twists that really bring home the ending! But before I say more, let’s talk about the plot of this book…

The Liar’s Wife by Samantha Hayes is a slow burning psychological thriller. Told from the point of view of the the main character, Ella, this one does have alternating trips back into the past to help build the story but it was easy to follow.

Ella is a character that you know from early on is hiding from something in her life. Putting off her co-workers friendly attempts to get her to participate and socialize Ella keeps to herself. On her way home from work on a rainy night however Ella ends up

My thoughts
”The Liar’s Wife” is a well-written thriller with vivid details and loads of secrets! It was like watching a scary movie...I wanted to yell at the characters on screen—mainly Ella. She’s quiet, keeps to herself and has a predictable life, just the way she likes it.
”Work, home, sleep.”

An incident in her past has forced her to live a reclusive lifestyle, cut off from family and friends. Ella is a very likable and smart character, who does some stupid things. Her husband Jacob, on the

Another suspenseful and gripping read from the author of The Reunion.

Ella likes to keep herself to herself and avoids socializing. Work, home, sleep…that’s her routine. You see, Ella is hiding an awful secret. She has done something horrible 10 years ago, which if exposed, her life would be over.
Guilt-ridden and fearful, she lives her dreary and reclusive life, until one night she has a terrible accident riding her bicycle home from work.
She wakes up in a hospital, woozy and broken and is told h

The Liar's Wife by Samantha Hayes was a psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat.
Ella is cycling home from work one evening, it's cold and wet and hard to see the road. She is hit by a van and wakes up in hospital with a broken arm and leg. She is feeling ill, confused and in a lot of pain. The nurse tells Ella that her husband has visited her every day and will be very please to see her awake. Having enjoyed some of Samantha Hayes's earlier novels I thought this would be a light, easy read just as those were, but unfortunately it was another day, another family drama based around the idea that you never know someone as well as you think you do, and I feel this is a concept that's wearing very thin these days for me. As often is the case with these books it claims to be a thriller but in reality, it's a family drama or domestic noir only. I don't usually have a problem with a book that ...more

My thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Samantha Hayes for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are 100% my own and independent of receiving an advanced copy.

This was the worst. I haven’t read a bad book in a while, but this was a snoozer. The conflict happens right at the beginning and then you are left with 300 pages of boring, boring, boring, until the big reveal at the end. I didn’t like any of the characters, I had no sympathy for Ella being abused, honestly, I felt like I w

Now that was a killer twist at the end!! And I read a lot of these sorts of books... did not see that coming at all! The Liars Wife by Samantha Hayes was a very fast paced story with some nasty characters! Really enjoyed reading this one, even if at times parts of the plot were a bit over the top and unbelievable.

This book is creepy! It will send chills down your spine. We get a glimpse into Ella's life before the accident. She lives a simple life work, sleep, eat, repeat. Then she awakens in a hospital bed and is told that her husband is anxious for her to recover. The problem is Ella does not recall that she has a husband.

Then the ride from hell begins. Ella opens her eyes from her coma and sees someone from her past. Someone that she never expected to see again, that is claiming he is her husband. Ell

That's been Ella Sinclair's daily routine for the past 10 years. She steers clear of all social entanglements, keeps to herself, and does her job the best she can. Then, the accident. The Liar's Wife was a book which for me seemed like - been there, done that. The story began with Ella and her life of routine, she never wavered from it. Till she met with an accident and found herself married to Jacob who was her connection to the secret of her past. The story saw her being under his hold, doing everything as he wanted, till it reached an explosive finish...

When we first get to meet Ella, she comes across as a bit of a recluse. It's as if something is holding her back from socialising with her work mates. There is obviously something that is holding her back so was very intrigued as to just what that was.

When she wakes up in hospital to a man claiming to be her husband well my inner sensors were going haywire. My intrigue shot up a level and was desperate to know more about this man.

I hate the goodreads doesn't allow us to give ZERO stars bc this book certainly did not deserve even one. In fact, it deserves negative stars. It is this awful.

The writing is atrocious. The repetitions are more than annoying, they are ludicrous. But I guess the author knew how horrible the story was so chances that the reader would get distracted were high...

Okay...holy sh*t. This book was INSANE.

I was initially drawn in by the plot summary of this novel, but lemme just say...there is SO MUCH more to the story than just that.

Hayes’ writing drew me in from the very beginning, and I couldn’t wait to find out what happens to all of the characters. While I’m not going to include any spoilers here, I will say that the plot twist at the end slapped me in the face and I am still in shock honestly!

Wow I thought this book was incredible. From the first page right to the end it captured my attention. It was completely addictive and I loved every page. I really liked Ella and Liam and really felt for them throughout the story. It had so many twists and turns they had me shocked especially towards the end. Samantha Hayes is one of my favourite authors. Her books are always brilliant and I can’t wait to read more. I definitely recommend this. A really enjoyable and addictive read.
Ella-bella!!! I was so annoyed by the constant calling of Ella's first name, that I could have screamed!! I have read and enjoyed the author's other books but this was a real dud for me. It was one long boring read. Couldn't wait till I was done and hurried it along with skipping. Give your readers the benefit of having a brain. This is the first time ever i've had to give a one star review and it pains me to do so, however this book was just ridiculously stupid that i just felt i had to get my feeling out there.

where do i start? * big sigh* its a slow burner to start with, took me a while to been drawn in. It picked up about 1/3rd of the way through, i felt genuine concern for Ella, however that soon changed to frustration and then annoyance at her sheer stupidity, Ella had plenty of opportunity to escape her tormentor

I actually stopped reading after a few chapters, and skipped to the end to see how it ended. It just wasn't my cup of tea, I guess.

It started off well when Ella wakes up in a hospital after an accident. Someone is waiting for her to wake up. Her husband. But the thing is that she doesn’t have a husband. So who is he? It was intriguing. But that’s it.
The story got boring after this. Just couldn’t connect with Ella. And the suspense fell flat.

Oh my freaking god! What a fabulous and compelling read The Liar’s Wife by Samantha Hayes turned out to be. I must be honest when I read the book description I wasn’t convinced it would be an original read, as I’ve read numerous psychological thrillers where the protagonist wakes up from a coma with no memory, but what makes this one so different is in the telling of a very twisted and disturbing tale. I must mention the author has surpassed herself and this is definitely the best book I’ve read ...more

This started out as a promising thriller but by midway, it headed down a rabbit hole. I lost sympathy for Ella who became her own worst enemy, missing many clear opportunities to escape from her tormentor. I got tired of her naivety especially when it came to taking care of the baby. I hoped that I would be rewarded at the end of the book but was disappointed. The ‘twist’ was unsettling, bringing previous bits of the story to a new light, nightly ‘washings’ and baby ‘secret’ coming to mind. I tr ...more

No. Just no. This book didn't do anything for me.

When reserved Ella wakes up in the hospital after an accident, she finds herself suddenly married. She has no idea how she got there and who her husband is. Until he walks through the door. Rounded up from 3.75. Overall a very good book, it held my interest throughout and, while I didn't find it creepy, it WAS unsettling and disturbing. It might, however, be time for a little break from the 'you never know people as well as you think you do' school of writing.
