Ben Wells is anxious to propose to the woman who has stolen his heart. However, his hopes for a lifetime of love and happiness with Mia are put on hold as he embarks on a desperate mission to rescue her—from an enemy he never saw coming.
Ben and Mia are on a perilous race to reclaim their future—before catastrophe separates them forever.
Born and raised in the Rocky Mountains, Anne L. Parks has spent the last 28 years moving all over the United States. Married to the Navy – well a Commander in the Navy – Parks has lived in various locales throughout the United States. She currently resides in the Washington D.C area. When not writing, she spends her time reading, doing yoga, mountain biking, and keeping track of four kids and a very spoiled rescue German Shepherd. And drinking wine.
Author of nine novels (Tri-Stone Trilogy, Return To Me series, and Strangers) and four novellas that have been published in anthologies, she loves to create stories with mystery, plenty of twists and turns, and loaded with suspense.
With a military husband, it was only a matter of time before she broke into the military romantic suspense genre, where she feels right at home amongst highly trained, somewhat jaded, ready to take out terrorists alpha males and the strong, brave women who love them. Parks first military romance, MIA, went to #1 on Amazon’s Kindle World. Thirteen more books will be released in her new series, The 13. Two other series are being planned.
Thank you Anne L. Parks for writing "the rest of the story" of Mia and Ben. I loved the story of Mia Rowland but at the time did not realize when I started reading Ben that I would get to see how the story of these two panned out. My hope was always that Mia would come out stronger from her ordeal with Senator Hutten but this book gave me so many twists and surprises that I was kept on the edge of my seat wondering what was coming next You definitely need to read Mia before starting Ben but "technically" you can read the other books in the series in whatever order you want and while you won't know the background info on the main characters, you would still be able to enjoy the books.
I was given a n ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.
book since Mia story. Mia was put in witness protection in last book and waiting for the trial to start so she could testify against Hutton . Ben was protecting Mia and ended up hurt and she was placed in witness protection until the trial. When all hell breaks loose in the courtroom will Mia make it out alive? Ben is counting down the time so he can finally be with the woman who stole his heart and he is ready to share his with hers together but when suff happens in the trial will he lose the woman he loves? This book was so good and kept you on your toes and wanting more. Just love the storyline and characters and it flows perfectly. Loved it.

Book four in the 13 series sees us back with Ben from Mia’s story. With her being in the witness programme to testify against senator Hutton, she sees Ben as often as possible. In court she is on the stand when four gunmen come in, firing at anyone, killing the judge and Hutton, Mia is dragged off by her escort. As bullets fly she is knocked out and kidnapped. Ben is beside himself as they try to find Mia. Thinking the RRA have her the truth being it’s someone closer to home. With Mia’s life in danger will Ben and the rest of the team rescue her in time? A great read from start to finish. I loved Mia the first time around and this book about Ben was just as good.
Again Anne has wrote a fabulous book and the best by far in my opinion. We are back to Ben and Mia in this book. While Ben is at his friends wedding he gets a call there's been a shooting at the courthouse where Mia is testifying. Ben goes crazy worry whether Mia is dead or alive. Thinking the RRA is behind this again. There is a lot of action, pain, death, and a HEA. Received this book for an honest review.
Mia has been in witness protection waiting for the trial. Ben just wants it over so they can be together. There is commotion and then Mia is gone. Ben has just found out that there was shooting at the courthouse and now Mia is missing. They all assume the RRA is behind it. Will they find her before it is too late? Will her Ben get their happily ever after?
It's time for Mia to testify and of course it happens on the same day one of his team members weds. When trouble hits no one is ready for it or what results. In a rush against time not only do they have to figure out what really happened they have to figure out the threat. Another great short story filled with heart stopping action add in some heat and a little crazy the result it a great read.
Mia is faced again with a life or death situation as she dreams of easy days with only Ben. Her past seems to catch up to her In this book but the 13 team and Ben will do everything to bring Mia home to them. The rescue is risky but she is worth it , so she and Ben can finally get the hea they deserve
Ben was an amazing story. Just like the first 3 books of The 13. You will be on the edge of your seat as the suspenseful story unfolds. Mia is an awesome character and the love of Ben's life. They have been through a lot to get to their HEA. You need this book in your life...trust me. You will hopefully love it as much as I do
This is the 4th book in "The 13" series and it was so good! It goes back to the first couple in the series, Mia and Ben, and completed their love story. This book pulled me in by the first paragraph and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. I can't wait for the rest of this series!
We first meet Ben & Mia in the first book of the 13 series. I absolutely loved getting to watch the rest of their story laid out. Mia is once again in harms way and Ben will stop at nothing to rescue her. I love all the characters from the 13 series and can’t wait for the next book.
This was disappointing because not only was it super short ~ but Ben & Mia didn’t really spend any time together. 2 paragraphs of flashbacks and a few pages at the end. It also didn’t do much to forward the story arc of the whole series.
Next is John, which for some reason hasn’t been classified correctly on Goodreads and is showing up as a stand alone instead of part of “The 13” series.
Ben was part of the security team that was guarding Mia. She was a witness a the Senator who had been laundering money from his charity. She was almost done when a team of gunmen started shooting up the court room. She was kidnapped and taken to an island. Now Ben has to find her
This is the rest of Ben and Mia's story. The book starts out in the courthouse where Mia is to testify and all hell break's out and from there it is nonstop action and twists that you don't see coming! Can't wait for the next book of the 13. You did it again Anne!
I saw this book available and stopped reading my other favorite author because I had to have it. It seemed forever to get to read Mia and Ben's final story and it was perfect. Now on to the next book
Absolutely loved this book!! This is the 4th book in the series and, yes, you should read them in order. Ben continues Mia's story from book 1 and it was definitely worth the wait! Can't wait for the next one!
Another book in this great series. I really loved the action and drama. Also really liked Ben and Mias love story, very sweet. The plot was a tad predictable but still enjoyable.
Just when they should be able to get on with their lives the past comes back & blows everything out of sight. Plenty of suspense & just how far this team will once again go to help each other!!
This is a quick, fast-paced story that will draw you in from the first page to the last. It is packed with drama, suspense and action throughout and was quite an enjoyable read. The characters are likeable and the storyline engaging. Ben can be read as a stand-alone; however, there is a continuing storyline throughout the series that overlaps each book so the series would be better if read in order.
It is finally time for Mia and Ben’s story to conclude. Do they get their happy ending or is more trouble on the horizon for them both? Mia’s time in protective detail is finally coming to an end. She is testifying against Hutton and the RRA and then she will finally be free to have a fresh start with Ben…or so she thought. In the middle of testifying Mia’s day takes a tragic turn and chaos and death unfold. Once again she finds herself in mortal danger as she is kidnapped, drugged and trapped with a masked man that holds a familiarity with her. And it is that familiarity that chills her to the bone. Thinking the RRA was responsible for all the death and destruction at the courthouse and her abduction she is shocked and terrified when she finds her assailant is someone from her past, someone no one saw coming. While Ben and his team are scrambling to connect the dots and find clues that will lead them to Mia’s safe return, she knows she has to find a way to contact Ben or escape or she will never be heard from again. Her worst nightmare has resurfaced and this time the game is being played for keeps. Everything is on the line for Ben and Mia and their future happiness if he and his team cannot get to her in time. Will they finally get their forever or will the dots be connected too late?
*I received an ARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Apparently this is part of a series, had I known this before, I would not have reviewed it, as it's obvious I'd be coming into a story without knowing everything that happened beforehand. That said, I did enjoy this short, action-packed little story. It felt more like a thriller than a romance, and it's obvious that Mia and Ben had a lot going on with them before this installment. In this installment, Mia is testifying at a trial when everything comes crashing down around her. Will Ben rescue her before her captor kills her? Will he even know where she's being imprisoned?
Once I got past the fact that this was part of an ongoing story, I decided to figure out if I liked it or not. I did, but it's far too short and under-developed, so I am assuming that Mia and Ben's characters and story were detailed much more in earlier installments. I hope so at least, because here there's barely a glimpse of them before things go to hell. Then there's a bunch of action and a rush to the ending. It's all very action movie-ish with a tiny bit of romance thrown in. The highest I can rate it is 3.5 stars, but I have a feeling it would be a 4 if I had read the previous installments of Ben and Mia's story. As it's written, though, 3.5 is probably a little high for someone who was in the dark as to the story and previous relationship building, but I liked the action and Ben and Mia too from the tiny glimpse I was able to catch of them.
