August 27, 2018This feels like a broadly accessible version of what
Sharing Our World
was doing (sharing what different animals symbolize and teach us) as the text is primarily in the third person (though there is some "us" language), though it's still very much rooted in Native traditions and the Salish Sea specifically.
I cracked up at "[Sasquatch] are the best at playing hide and seek!"
#Cancer "Crabs walk sideways, teaching us that we need to find our own direction. With their hard shells, crabs remind us of the need to protect ourselves and others."
Also, the illustrations are really beautiful; I'm reminded of I am Dreaming of... Animals of the Native Northwest .

A whimsical book for children and others. Beautifully illustrated by Indigenous Artists of the Salish Sea region (which encompasses Puget Sound and nearby waters.) Each of 27 animals (and one Sasquatch) shown includes how the native peoples viewed the creature in folklore. Each page is printed on sturdy cardboard-weight material. Great gift material.
