All hands on deck for a shipboard romance—with a secret.

Like his cousins, Devin Walker aspires to be a chef, but he wants to indulge his wanderlust while feeding his customers, and working a cruise ship seems like the solution. Since he can’t find an opening in the kitchen, he’s happy to start out in a position behind the bar.

I'm a little (okay, a lot) late with this review, seeing how this was published in early November, but life gets in the way so I'm playing catch-up.

This is the 3rd book in The Walker Boys series, which are all part of the overall Dreamspun Desires umbrella, but can be read entirely as a standalone.

Devin Walker wants to be a chef, but is currently working on the Poseidon, a cruise ship, as a bartender. He flirts innocently with the guests, and bides his time until a positi

Seeking Solace is the third book in Ari McKay’s series The Walker Boys. It isn’t essential that you read the previous books, though it would probably make life easier when one of the MCs, Devin Walker, talks about his family back home in Buffalo Lick, Texas. Much like the previous two books, Seeking Solace is a sweet and simple romance at heart. Of course, there is a good dose of drama, mostly fuelled by miscommunication and running away f

Though this book is part of The Walker Boys series, it can certainly be read as a standalone since the connection is a loose one based on certain characters from the books being from the same family. This one is a hurt/comfort story, and though I know some readers may categorize it as kind of insta-lovey, the close proximity of the two main characters in the short timeframe of the cruise along with the large amount of time they spent together were factors that contributed to the quick, intense b ...more

This book is about leaving your past behind and embracing what the future holds.

Paul Mercer is next in line to inherit the Triton family business of cruise ships. Paul has never been on a cruise, so his father sets him up on a two week business opportunity aboard the Poseidon’s Pearl, where he is somewhat undercover, using a false last name. He's trying to get a read on the staff hospitality and needs, but when he sees bartender Devin Walker, he can't help mix business with pleasure.

I'm glad to see a variety of characters coming out more lately. It makes things so much more real. In this story we have someone with a handicap and someone who is used to being picked on because of race. I really enjoyed it. This is another good one in this series and I think you guys will like this one as well. Of course, I'm a sucker for happy.

Another sexy Walker to add to the mix and I want to keep him. Blessed with Native American genes, he's got tall, dark, and sexy down. Reading how he lo

This is a book about learning to live again. A book about finding love. A book about letting go of past hurts to be able to have an incredible future. Ari McKay did a great job on this book. It was such an interesting read from one of the main characters having image issues about having his leg cut off. Too the other main character trying to help him find his confidence in himself again and not letting the fact that he has a fake leg define him. This was beautifully written.

Paul is the heir to T

A sweet romance, with a side of heat.

Seeking Solace is the first book I've read by Ari McKay and I liked it a lot. It's the third book in The Walker Boys series but can easily be read as a standalone. I haven't had time to read the first two yet and I didn't feel lost at all by reading just this one.

This was a really sweet story with a few sexy scenes that weren't overly graphic. Both of the MCs (main characters) have been hurt by past relationships. Paul lost part of one leg in an accident and

I'm not normally one for shipboard romances but this one was really well written and enjoyable from the beginning. The characters are well rounded men that you can relate to, both with their own problems but with each other their personalities really start to shine through. Especially so with Paul, who's past trauma has led him to a fairly isolated life but upon meeting Devin he can start to break through some of the stresses that were holding him back.
Devin is an easy man to fall in love with.

Seeking Solace is a Dreamspun desire. This means it is based on a usual trope, full of romance and usually a HEA ending.
Seeking Solace is also book 3 of the Walker Boys and where this stands alone pretty good, I think I would have gotten more if I had read the others. I felt like this was more Paul’s story than Devin who is one of the Walker Boys.
Paul is the son of the owner of Triton Cruise lines, a high luxury vacation line. He is being groomed to take over as CEO of the company when his fath

Devin Walker is a chef biding his time as a bartender on the Triton Cruise liner Poseidon's Pearl. He's saving money to buy his own restaurant and enjoying being able to see part of the world. He's been hurt in the love department before but he's willing to try again.
Paul Mercer AKA Paul Bailey is the heir to the Triton Cruise Line. His father's retiring next year so he needs to take a crash coarse on how a cruise line runs from the bottom up. When he lands on the Poseidon's Pearl he's directed

A very strong 4 stars

After getting past the initial first chapter of unfortunate info dump where I wondered why I had to see everything little thing on the cruise ship, Paul Bailey, aka Mercer, the heir to Triton Cruises, does the whole meet/cute in the ship's bar.

Devin Walker, cousin of Beau and Liam of Books 1 and 2, wanted a position in the kitchen, but took the bartending job when it was available, with an eye towards getting in front of a stove. Wouldn't you know it but Devin is chosen to

Seeking Solace is book three in Ari McKay’s Walker Brother series. Though I never recommend this, it’s possible to read this as a stand-alone BUT, I really like this series and characters so before you get all crazy and jump right in, maybe you should just start at the beginning!

This was a really sweet love story, not to mention a very romantic one with “love boat” vibes of the very best kind. Very much a feel good romance with a little dash of hurt/comfort, but low on angst and conflict.

Devin is working as a bartender on a Triton cruise ship when he meets Paul, who is an executive for Triton Cruises. Devin is put in charge of showing Paul around and explaining the day-to-day workings onboard ship. They both instantly like each other and go from a tentative friendship

Shipboard romances have a charm all their own, but the one at the center of this very entertaining novel has a few twists. First there are the complex main characters, one of whom, Devin, is an ambitious cousin of the Walkers in books one and two, while the other, Paul, is a man dealing with having lost a leg in an accident. Then there is the touch of corporate intrigue due to the fact that Paul is trying to assess the cruise ship’s performance as part of his taking over the company from his fat ...more

Ari McKay's Seeking Solace is a fun romance. It's the 3rd book in the Walker Boys series, but it is easily read as a standalone.

Devon, a worker on a cruise ship, meets Paul, the son of the owner, when Paul comes on the ship incognito. They connect when Devon shows him everything about the ship.

It's tender and beautiful the way that Devon helps Paul to realize his self-worth. As Paul's recently lost a leg, he's been lonely and depressed. Now, with Devon's help, he's able to realize he can still d

Smooth Sailing

There isn't much angst here and when it comes it's exactly what you expected would happen early on. The two characters are quite set apart in background and ambitions.

Devin (who, surprisingly, is not on the cover) is trying to follow in the culinary success footsteps of his cousins, who were the subjects of the first two books. Paul (who has to be on the cover) is the son of the cruise liner's owners, changing his last name so as to be under cover in his first shakedown cruise pri

Absolutely delightful!
I loved this sweet love story born on the beaches of the Caribbean and on a dream cruise.
Even if Devin and Paul keep something hidden from the other and the scenario for the birth of their romance is obviously an idyllic and unrealistic one, the core of who they are and what they feel for each other is more than real!
I enjoyed this series so much that I wish there were at least another dozen of Walker cousins to read about!

A cute shipboard romance between a bartender and the company official (who just happens to be the owner's son) who he has to show around the ship. The owner lost his leg in an accident and feels self-conscious but it doesn't take them long to connect. I question a) the logic of taking up with one of your employees b) how it was going to work long-term with him based in the US while the guy is on a ship most of the year, but it was cute. ...more

I enjoyed the previous two Walker Boys book that I kindly requested for the advanced copy for the third book.

Seeking Solace featured another Walker cousin, Devin Walker, who works as bartender at a cruise ship, Poseidon’s Pearl. Devin has been tasked to be a liaison for one of the top management who comes to supervise the day in and day out of the ship. Little does Devin knows that the top management person is actually Paul Mercer, the son of the Triton Cruise CEO, the

This is a high seas romance that gets pretty serious pretty fast. But of course there are misunderstandings. But persistence brings them together. I like how each of them are fully able to live their dream and give support to one another.

The Walker Boys series is a great bunch of stories. I love this one. Just enough angst to make their Happily ever after that much sweeter. I highly recommend this book.

Romantic, easy read. The sort of story I've come to expect from this line, and done well.

Don't expect large amounts of angst, this romance is pretty much plain sailing.
