This multimedia version, MICRO II, presents 34 selected cases from the book, Cases in Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Second Edition. This program enables students to more easily learn and remember the basic concepts of pathogenesis and disease, in addition to the epidemiology, the treatment, and the prevention of selected diseases. MICRO II offers a challenging and enjoyable way to study medical microbiology and differential diagnosis of infectious diseases.
This goes on the list with Visual Diagnosis in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine and Clinical Problems in General Medicine and Surgery as one of the excellent case study books. It would be particularly helpful as an aid during 1st year Microbiology and I would even more highly recommend it as an adjunct to (if you go to OSU-COM or listen to Goljan's reviews) Poppie's microbiology board review. Probably worthwhile as an adjunct to Rapid Review: Pathology, seeing how so much of that book revolves around infectious disease. The book divides up the cases by system (good formatting for a book like Rapid Review) and, although it goes into a microbiologists detail of the organisms, it offers some excellent information about clinical course, challenges in identifying organisms, and epidemiology of diseases. Overall, excellent book.
