The author Susan Classen runs the retreat center where I try to take yearly solitude retreats. I read this book during my last solitude retreat. There were a few chapters that especially stood out to me. One was about trusting the Spirit within me to guide and interpret my own experiences and that I don't always have to rely on the thoughts and ideas of others. Also, the very nature of choice is that by choosing one thing, I am NOT choosing something else. God has given me a narrow calling, but it doesn't have to feel suffocating (because I want to know-all, do-all, be-all!), but it can be freeing to focus my energies and passions on just a few things.
