Seventeen-year-old Jazz Miller has been arrested for a crime she didn’t commit and sent to a detention center on the island of Midnight. Soon, Jazz discovers that Midnight is actually a mystical Island with vile creatures, ruthless demons and portals to perilous realms. And the real reason she’s there is to participate in a deadly game against the forces of evil.
In addition to the impossible tasks set before her, Jazz must also confront her feelings for Nate—a gorgeous, insolent, alpha team member. But none of that matters because if Jazz doesn’t win the game, Nate and the rest of humanity will face a swift and bloody end…
I enjoyed the idea of this book, and I think I would have truly enjoyed it if there was a different author. All of the plot points were good and the story line holds merit, but the in between is where it lacks. It also feels like this was written by someone mom trying to teach them lessons in morality. The way things were written made it feel like someone was sneaking vegetables in my chicken nuggets or something. I will say though that the ending made me want to read the next book so there’s that.
I downloaded Isle of Midnight: Vicious Delights as a free ebook from Amazon. Not a good read for me. At times it struck me as a teen's novel, but the level of violence kinda offset that. Snarky teens, excessive attitude and eyerolls, and lots of teen angst. I didn't care for Jazz as the leader, and the ending sucked--not just because of the cliffhanger, but the final results. No interest in reading on.
I love this author! I loved this story with all its twists and turns and the cliffhanger oh my gosh! The only thing that is a downside to this is it's very similar to the Toren and other series she has written. Don't get me wrong I absolutely loved it. But I was hoping for something a little different without teenagers fighting demons and monsters and searching on a quest.
Different - demons are given an island where people are sentenced for crimes both real and made up. This was a bargain for the demons to have souls to feed on. A group that doesn't belong is set up for crimes they didn't commit Designed to test their moral compass and for them to be the deciding factor based on their performance to complete tasks. Will evil rule the world or will enough good be found.
I really loved the title and cover, this is what got my attention. I am glad I found it and had a chance to read it, I love the concept. I would have liked a better explanation to the family reunion. I thought the gods had one child each and suddenly they were siblings. I really enjoyed the fight scenes and scenarios they dealt with, they were written well. Interesting characters that I liked seeing grow. Overall a good read, I would be interested in reading more.

The story truly sucks you in. I really like the characters and the intensity level is a 12 in a 10 point scale. But there's a lot of the "F" word and sex is not as sacred as I believe it should be. Aside frim these two things the story grips you and leaves you horrified wondering what happens next
This is a very interesting story. It reminds me of a dystopian future where the battle between good and evil surrounds everyone. A goddess supposedly picks out a bunch of kids to fulfill a quest. The world depends on their success. It's fascinating to read, full of lies, deceit and action. I like the characters and the thrill of the duck game.
It took me a minute to get into the story. It's really far fetched and out there but it's really well written gets you using your imagination. If you enjoy a good paranormal book and God's and goddesses this is a book for you.
This book was hard to get thru but I love Lola, so I kept reading. It’s getting pretty interesting now, so I will of course continue with the series because Lola is an awesome author and I know it only gets better from here.
If you are looking for something quite different then this is the book for you....good vs evil..betrayal...supernatural...teen protectors...however, I just couldn't handle the ultimate betrayal
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
This book was amazing. I can't wait to read the next one. I think the story and characters are wonderfully written and fascinating. The book was hard to put down.
I did enjoy the story but I found it hard to read. The flow of the book was stilted at some points and confusing. I had to re-read sentences to get the flow back.
