Things are sure to get complicated. Clary knows she has to make a choice and agonises about it, while going from one heated exchange to another with her boys. But what if the boys knew and she didn’t have to make a choice? What if it was possible to love three or even four boys at once and they agreed to share? What if someone else had noticed and started sending Clary malicious, threatening notes with photos of her romantic encounters? Add some random attacks in the woods surrounding camp and the suspicions start: who is doing this? The resident mean girls Lucy, Hayley and Leah? The bad boys Rob and Justin? Joel’s girlfriend mad southern belle Jemma? This will be a summer of love, sex, discovery, fun and danger for Clary, her boys and her friends.

I don't understand the ratings of this book. This was HORRIBLE.
They don't go to summer camp, they go to sex camp. Kids and kids, supervisors and supervisors, kids and supervisors. The age doesn't matter at all, everyone's only thinking about f**ing everyone.
And let's not start with the heroine. Superficial and only thinking about boys like everyone else.
"Logan is a little blonde kid, about a year younger than us, who was following me everywhere last summer like a sick love puppy and wouldn't get the hint that I wasn't into future high school freshmen.
Remember that our heroine is 16 and Logan is 15. He's one of the harem guys.
Let's continue...
"I almost choke. I mean, that smile... I remember how annoying it was when he followed me everywhere last year but Logan was shorter than me and skinny and now this guy looks like a young Chad Michael Murray with a touch of Scott Eastwood just for a good measure"
"The first thing I am going to do as soon as I have any internet connection is to accept his friend requests and stalk the hell out of him on all possible social media. Yes, now that he's hot I will not be embarrassed by being seen with him."
I was missing books like this one... Such a great reading by a new author that I found by accident! The story revolves around Clary and the boys that she meets in summer camp and you can see their relationship evolving through the book. I really like how the MC knows what she wants despite her age and is not afraid to go for it and I especially liked the sexy scenes! I wont say more to avoid spoilers but if you like books by authors like C L Stone and Brandy Slaven you'll love this one. I'm really looking forward for book 2.
Omg! I couldn't get past the first few pages! I rarely write bad reviews because I was raised believing that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything. I was just really annoyed with the characters from the beginning. I am so sorry but, it's a do not read for me.

Lake Emerald Chronicles: The First Summer by Melissa Adams, is a Reverse Harem Romance. • 🌟 My review: 🌟 I saw this book more of a Forbidden Love Story rather than a Reverse Harem Romance. If you relate Reverse Harem with adult love, I suggest you go into this book seeing it as a Forbidden Love. This view is based on the age differences between the heroine and heros, as well as the positions 3 of the heros hold as counselors of the camp and the heroine being a camper. There is a lot of controversial topics and situations throughout this book so I do recommend you go into this book with an open mind. There is underage drinking and sex throughout this novel and where I come from, this is not uncommon. Therefore I was able to see past these issues some would have problems with and focus more on the love interests and stories that were being told. The overall story does need work on, especially when it comes to editing and formatting, but I did find the characters easy to read which made it somewhat easy to look past those issues. • Concerns: I do want to share these with you so you are aware. - This novel does have some formatting issues (due to how it transferred onto kindle format, according to author) and editing needed - both mentioned above. - There is a recount of rape and is not addressed the way I would prefer when rape is involved. The author has mentioned it will be addressed in following books, I just wished it was addressed better in this book, and taken more seriously. • Overall: Would I recommend this? No. I think it needs a lot more work and the serious issues addressed better. Was it terrible? Not necessarily, but it definitely had the potential to be better but the execution just wasn't there.
Last thoughts: If you are to pick this up, I would definitely take my advice - read it as a forbidden, even taboo romance with the knowledge that this is a debut novel.
Seriously I love RH novels. One of my favorite sub-genres even the teen/young adult ones. From slow-medium burn to steamy, I like it all. However my number one rule is you have to have a well-developed characters and plot.
This was basically none of that, just a teenage sex book. The plot was underdeveloped and the writing sub-par. Clary was just annoying and most of the supporting characters were extreme and over the top. The guys have insta-lust to insta-love. Xander and Logan were fine in the beginning, but became so underwhelming as the story progressed. Joel was just a womanizer, though a good sounding board I guess. He ironically had the most depth out of all of the characters. Now I did not mind that they were 18 and Clary 16. I did have an issue with Austin being a 20 year old college grad pining after some junior in high school. I cannot get beyond that when they interact especially his childishness and moving so crazily fast into a sexual relationship with an obvious minor. I mean had she been 18 or even 17 going on 18 soon. This was just not even addressed as being an issue. Must be a rich thing?
Spoiler ALERT: the rape was just swept under the rug? I mean it was barely brought up again and the girl bounced back so quickly. Her BFF, Brie, just didn't bring it up at all. How is this relatable? In what world does that am happen? Bullying, assault, underage drinking, and sex all happening and not one adult does anything since they don't want a lawsuit or in Clary's and Hazel's case to be pulled from camp. I mean they were all doing this (guests and counselors alike) with absolutely no FEAR of getting caught except for their reputation. No fear of being kicked out, arrested, caught by any authority in the camp? Nothing.
This book just had too much happening and hardly any resolution to any of the tension. Overall this book was Meh and just hard to finish. There is potential, but needs an overhaul on some key areas. I read the blurb for the next one and didn't see much difference. Even added in more guys moving next door... Yeah shall not be continuing this series.
Fiction works when the writer takes us into a world we don’t know and we meet characters who appear full-bloodied and step fully-formed from the page. Melissa Adams achieves this with a flourish as we travel to a teenage summer camp where Clary, just sixteen, has a crush on Joel.
We can feel the teenage angst as Clary takes that thrilling journey from being a child to the world of adulthood with its intrigues, irony and innuendo. Is she ready? The tingling sensations running through her say yes – and the way Joel’s eyes now fall on her makes her realise she is not mistaken.
It’s a truism that the ways of love never run smooth. More so for the teenager who suddenly discovers that she has not one admirer – but two: Joel and his best friend Xander. Then there’s Austin, older, more worldly – not a triangle, but a four sided box from which Clary suddenly realises there is no escape.
Lake Emerald Chronicles takes a darker turn, attacks in the woods, the rivalries and hatreds of the other girls at camp – the sudden realisation that at the end of the journey of kissing and petting is another barrier, that Rubicon of sex, once crossed, there is no turning back.
Nicely paced, well-written, a thoroughly enjoyable
Well, I’m not sure what I expected but I really enjoyed this book. It did have moments where it felt a bit over the top in how the big focus of the relationships building was the very frequent physical interactions. And more than once I wanted to slap some of the female characters!! But the plot did thicken. Not sure it answered some very big questions.
Namely, who specifically was sending the notes? And what exactly did the guys plan for the winter? They seemed pretty adamant they would see her but all we got in this book was “trust us”. A bit frustrating. Overall enjoyable though.

Couldn't put it down till I was done! Have to see what happens next!😀 Seriously hope the asshats and beioches get what's coming to them!!! If you read it you will find out who I'm talking bout. 😡
Melissa Adams weaves a story of young love, lust, and intrigue while giving the readers everything they could ever want in a Reverse Harem book. I can't wait to read the Second Book!
Lovely tale of a summer camp full of adventures, laughs, love as well as some characters we all love to hate. (Hayley, anyone?) can’t wait to follow Clary’s adventures in book 2.
It’s amazing! For fans of reverse harem romance, this book has everything: the boys especially are so hot and swoon worthy! The story sucks you right in, it has sex, a hint of mystery and it’s so beautifully written! It’s going to be a trilogy so can’t wait for book 2 and 3. If you like the academy or the iris boys, this is just as good!
Trigger Warning: This book containers a rape and a lot of sexual activity. It is definitely not a book for younger readers.
Clary is getting ready to leave for summer camp at Lake Emerald and is looking forward to spending the summer with her best friends Brie and Hazel. All three girls are very excited to be spending the summer away from their parents. The girls are all 16 years old this summer and Clary has “filled out” over the school year and is hoping that the counselor she has had a crush on for the past several summers will finally notice her.
This is a reverse harem book involving Clary and several other men. It could have used another round of editing as there were a number of typos and other errors within. It did improve in the second half of the book, and I noticed far fewer errors once the sex scenes became more prevalent.
I have to admit that I didn’t really like this book. I don’t have an issue with the reverse harem aspect and wouldn’t have had much of an issue with the large amount of sex going on in the story. But as the mother of a teenage daughter, what I had a problem with included the truth or dare game with underage campers drinking alcohol during the game with the adult counselors. In most places, providing alcohol to minors should have gotten them fired, if not worse.
I also had a very serious problem with the 16 year old main character and the 20 year old counselors she becomes more than mildly involved with. With her being underage, that sort of thing is considered statutory rape. It doesn’t matter if she is a willing participant or even if she is the one instigating things. The 20 year old men, who are supposed to be the responsible parties here, should be pushing her away for at least another 2 years. Being only 16, she is still a minor. What is happening in this book between her and the men in question is still illegal. And as they have made the decision to not hide their relationships, someone working in the camp should have put a stop to things. Yet not even the slightest warning was ever given to anyone involved.
The things going on at this camp were noticed by other responsible adults at the camp, yet not one of them ever does anything to stop it. Instead they almost seem to be encouraging it. I’m sorry, but this book hits on some issues that truly disturb me. Because of this, I’m afraid that I just cannot recommend it.
Ok I have to start by saying that I feel like I missed out. I went to summer camp and never had 4 hot guys falling all over me. I need to find this camp and go back in time.
This book is Clary’s story of her first kiss, first love and so much more. I love how the author made you feel connected to all the characters. In reverse harems it is easy to get lost in who is who. But this book has you so hooked from the beginning and you learn about each character. You feel like you know them. The character development isn’t only in the hero and heroine, but also in the friends of both.
This book was very well written and I am very excited to see this story continue. Can’t wait to see what Winter brings.
Clary looks forward all year to summer camp at Lake Emerald where she reunites with her besties Hazel and Brie and crushes on the camp counselor Joel. She's hopeful that at 16 with her new curves this is the summer she gets her first kiss and maybe even a boyfriend. She gets much more than she was expecting. There's Logan, the annoying little kid who followed her around all last summer. Well, now he's all grown up. There are Xander and Austin, two new counselors whom both seem interested too. Clary knows she needs to make a choice but they are all so gorgeous, so sweet. They all make her happy in different ways. However, someone else has noticed all of the attention Clary is getting and is sending her nasty, threatening notes with photos of her with each of the guys. She must talk to the guys before they find out from someone else. And when she does confront the guys, it seems her dreams have come true. Best summer ever!
I am conflicted regarding this book. First the negatives. It seemed to be an RH targeted to teens by the behavior and thought-process of the main characters, however, it wasn't consistent. I realize that teens can go from never having been kissed to 'third base' in hours but Clary did this with multiple boys without hesitation. And as a mother, I object to the age of at least one of the boys but also to the fact that three of the boys were counselors. The counselors provided alcohol, had sex with multiple partners, threatened guests, and hosted a game of truth or dare that went way beyond appropriate. This exclusive camp for the creme de la creme may have offered luxuries but there was no supervision or safety for the teenage guests. I also hated the messages delivered by the females in this book. They were ugly, conniving, competitive; willing to do anything to be with the guys. Brie was beyond irritating and even Hazel disappointed with her hush-hush decision. More than one guy needed to be arrested for sexual assault and at least one girl needed to be brought up on physical assault/attempted murder, not to mention the unknown stalker and attacker. Joel and Austin also bother me for reasons beyond their positions and age. Joel seems like a great guy once you get past his behavior. He is not boyfriend material right now and won't be for a while to come. His trail of conquests is too much. Until he has taken a year off from man-whoring, he is untouchable. Austin is possessive and too anger prone. He can't be in an RH as he is currently. I realize that not everyone is as ridiculously easy to accept the idea as Xander and Logan are but the way he spoke to Clary was unacceptable considering his agreement. Plus, he may not have done anything with another girl but he sure allowed her to make it appear that they were together and he allowed Clary to be put in harms way more than once due to his tantrums. Games like this do not make for a good boyfriend. Finally, this book needs editing or a beta team. It's too long, has misspellings, and other errors.
Now for the good. Xander. He's funny, smart, and everything you could ask for in a boyfriend. Logan. He's a sweet teddy bear, so open with his feelings. Intelligence being valued. Reading books, knowledge in general, the arts are all cool in this crowd. Physical fitness is also stressed. There's very little slut-shaming. Sex should hold a personal value but as long as everyone is willing, there should not be judgment passed. There were parts of the story that were positively entertaining; girl-time and falling in love. The descriptions were vivid. I could definitely envision the camp, the guests, their clothes, etc.
With a few adjustments, I think this could become a very entertaining series. I will read the next book to see how everyone adjusts once they leave camp.
I am a bit torn on this one. I really like the premise and author of this story. It was quite a long book and did cover a lot. I did not have an issue with the ages of the characters as some readers. I did feel the issues of intimacy were dealt with well and the scenes were written tastefully. I found myself torn about the guys in her harem. While a few of them are definitely book boyfriend material and acted with maturity, others behavior or actions in the past and toward her were a bit much for me to overcome. i.e. When a guy who knows he likes the mc but still sleeps with other people for example. And I did appreciate the trigger warning with regards to the subject of rape in this book (as stated it is talked about in summary) but there was also an attempted rape scene and as well as some threats/comments about rape by one of the characters in the story. I also did not like the lack of accountability for those who committed criminal acts (rape, assault, etc...) even if the reasons were explained. Also, the fact that we never found out who was grabbing and attacking the girls in the woods and at camp, who was leaving the notes and pictures left the story feeling a bit unfinished. I will probably read the next story to see what happens next to the characters.

I loved this book. I am surprised that people found it inappropriate or shallow. I think I would have wished teenagers were that nice when I was a teen! Yes there is lots of casual sex at this summer camp but have you been to any american high school? If anything it's great how the MC chooses for the most part boys who are so considerate her feelings, aware of safe sex and willing to wait for her and go at her pace. Things heat up along the way and I think the MC realizes that the oldest boy she is dating (20) is too old for her and struggles with that relationship. I found the book beautifully written, entertaining and hot. Towards the end it also kept me on the edge of my seat because there is an undercurrent of mystery into the book that runs deep into the story even though it surfaces only at times. If you choose to read it, remember that the characters are teenagers with all the contradiction and occasional immaturity this entails and stick with it because what starts as a funny will I get my first kiss and who's hooking up with who, ends up as a beautiful, romantic love story. Yes, it's a true RH, so there's one girl and more than one boy but I wasn't disappointed, this book made my heart race.
I loved this book. It's a sweet love story, RH but nevertheless lovely writing and believable characters. it starts out light and funny but things become very soon deep, romantic and quite dramatic at times. the characters are young adults/ new adults and I find that the author portrays quite well the ambivalence between being young and carefree and a bit shallow at times but then also having deep feelings and thoughts. it's the woes and difficulties of growing up and discovering who you are which I think she gets perfectly. I have been to summer camp in my youth and there actually was a lot more sex than what she depicts but I love the sexy scenes, they are hot but not vulgar and I wish someone had told me about safe sex and that the boys I went out with in my teens had been so considerate of my feelings and such. I think this a lovely little book that makes you laugh, cry, get you hot and above all entertains you from the first to the last page, I can't wait fir book 2!!!!
Great book and a very engaging story. I would recommend this book if you are okay with the following: 1. Somewhat unrealistic, especially in the beginning. The crimes committed would never actually be brushed off as every single character in this book does. 2. Some of the grammar and spelling is off... is, are, was, were, onto, into, on, in, etc were used wrong. 3. The story is pretty choppy in the beginning as some of the facts don’t line up with what was previously said. 4. Also, some of the expressions are used wrong. “Saw his wild Oates” should be “sew his wild oates”...right?
I do get that this book is brit written, but the numerous errors had nothing to do with that. Would have been a 3 had the characters not been as unique as the storyline itself.
I know that there is a lot of haters out there on this, and really it is up to what the reader likes to read. Simply if reading about a 16 year old being obsessed with sex and having sex with 20 year olds bothers you , don't read it. We are given warnings about the trigger of rape, underage drinking and sex. If this does not bother you, like myself, than this is a great read. There is two ways to look at this story a parent or a reader. I have read lots of taboo and dark reads, this is on the lighter side.
Clary is a 16 year old is exploring her sexuality at Summer Camp at Lake Emerald. We all have had that crush that we would like to something more with. Here she just so happens to have more than one, lucky girl. So if you are wiling to over look a few issues to read a pretty good story that tells the story of a young woman coming into her own.
This was a sweet story with some likable characters. Xander and Logan were absolutely amazing and Joel was such a sweetheart. Austin honestly drove me nuts. He was selfish, possessive, and had no regard for her safety. How many times can you leave someone alone that is being stalked / attacked without learning your lesson? Brie was also an issue for me. She was stubborn and refused to see what was right in front of her. Honestly, no one is that blind and stupid to not understand what Justin was doing. Also, they never find out who was stalking Clary. That part is just completely skipped over like it had never happened. It was a decent read but it could really use another run past an editor to fix the plot holes, typos, and name mix ups.
So, first things firsts: this book is amazing! The story is sweet, sexy and the boys... I am in love with all of the MC's boyfriends! There are a few typos but I have read lots of other books (even print ones) which were much worse, to me they don't bother me. I was kept in the edge if my seat and I love that some scenes, including some sexy ones, were written under the boys POV. I can't wait for book two and I seriously recommend this book, it's a great series starter. I really don't understand some if the low ratings. And definitely need to stick with it because it gets better at every page. loved it! if you don't like Reverse harem just din't read it but it's a very exciting story
seriously gorgeous story. I am totally in love with Xander and Joel and boy, that Hayley was horrible. i fell in love with Clary, felt her fears, her doubts and loved Hazel and even Brie, for as much as she was a bit of a hotheaded idiot, she was hilarious. these characters suck you right in, the story is fun, hot and romantic, it made laugh and cry. not al characters are lovable but life is the same way, so I thought it was quite realistic. yes, there's a lot of sex and teenagers do act like... Teenagers! deep and thoughtful one minute and completely stupid and reckless one minute later. I personally recommend it and I hope it gets edited at some point but the typos are not that many so to me it's all in the story
I really, really liked this book. Oooh, that Xander! But, I really love all the guys and each of their individual relationships with Clary. The first couple chapters did have a juvenile feel to them, which makes sense since she’s sixteen. But, soon it’s easy to forget her age. Also, I found it a little unrealistic that those two young guys were fine with both of them dating her so quickly. Also, all the relationships went to “I love you’s”very quickly. Other than those little things, I truly enjoyed this book. I feel like we still have a huge mystery with who the heck is messing with Clary? I also hope that she does truly stay in contact with all the boys. I think this series could go on for a long time and I hope it does.

I came across the book by chance when I looked at reviews on goodreads. I liked it a lot. Sometimes the main character seems to be older than 16 years, because she acts very adult, which doesn't really fit to the sheltered upbringing of her parents. But I couldn't put the book away and was curious about the development. I'm a fan of Slow burn RH stories, because they usually describe relationships and development in detail. Like my predecessors, I would categorize the book among the books of CL Stone, Brandy Slaven, BL Brunnemer (who writes RH urban fantasy books), Lucy Smoke, and a few other authors. I'm looking forward to the next part.
This is the first time i have read anything by this author. Lake Emerald. this book takes you on a journey with Clarissa (Clary) and her BBF's Brie and Hazel while at summer camp. It picks up where Clary is on her way to camp there are a couple of funny moments at the airport. This is the girls 3rd year of being here at the camp. Clary has fancied one of the boys Austin for 2 yrs while another boy Logan has fancied her. At the age of 16 Clary has now grown into herself along with her friends. While here at camp they get up to all sorts, the girls as well as the boys have some highs and lows. Its a good read. looking forward to book two.
