Tristan Cleary is a man of God. Sure, he may not like like one with tatted up sleeves, nipple piercings, muscles, and a mouth like a sailor, but he knew his calling by the age of nine. That is until he fell in love as a teenager with Kadence “Kady” Janacek. She was the love of Tristan’s life. The girl he wanted to marry until she broke his heart in the worst possible way. Kady ran away and left the town of Carkeek, Indiana. Soon after Tristan joined the seminary and is now Carkeek’s resident par ...more

When I first read the prologue I thought, yeah right, there is no way this man can be a priest. He's hot, tatted, pierced, has a 6-pack and a filthy mouth. Did not sound anything like a man of the cloth! There is a back story the explains everything though.

Tristan and Kadence fell in love when they were teenagers and planned to marry. Tristan had two loves in his life, Kady and God. He was a reverent and devoted Catholic, always trusting in God to guide him through life. For most of his

SWEET BABY JESUS!!!!!!!! HOLY HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF DID I JUST READ....................... That is exactly what I said after reading this book. OMG I was shocked just by reading the prologue so I knew I was in for something else something forbidden and sacrileges and dammit I was not disappointed one bit. Tristan is known as Father Cleary. A calling he felt he was lead to at a very young age. He’s not a perfect priest nor a perfect man. He has his demons. He has one big stumbling block, and her name is Kadence. (aka Kady) This is not some woman who shows up at his church and messes with him….no, Kady is his ex-fiance. A woman he was wiling to give up the priesthood for, but something unforeseen tears them apart and Tristan’s ability to forgive just isn’t there. This story is about se

Page turner

Intriguing and engrossing book.
Interesting and engaging story of a priest who loves his church and wholeheartedly believes in his calling, but, at the same time, is embittered with unforgiveness and pain, due to an event in his past.
Although I felt for him, I must admit there were times I found it difficult to like him as a character.
However, the story kept me turning the pages waiting with baited breath for the moment of revelation...the moment when the truth of that past hurt would

This steamy read had a well written storyline and characters that were well detailed which kept me totally hooked until the very last page was turned! This was the first book that I have read from this author and it definitely will not be the last!

This book started for me as a 4 star and I was hoping that it would elevate itself to a 5 star…alas that was not the case and it backslid into an almost 2 star review for me.

As the main lead Tristan/Father Cleary states he’s not what you think of when you think of a priest. There is also an F-Bomb warning, take it seriously as he does use it quiet often. So if profanity and really carnal sexual thoughts is not your thing then move on.

In the beginning of the book Tristan had me chuckling with his

FATHER: MEN OF THE CLOTH -TRISTAN is the first book in the Forbidden Priest Romance series. This is my first read by author Lark McCaffrey and actually, I believe this is her first published work.

Father (Tristan) Cleary is an ordained priest in the Catholic church. He's heard "the call" to God since he was a child. Then he met the beautiful Kadence. They grew up together and Tristan was willing to give up the priesthood for her, he even thought they'd be married. But fate and Tristan's twin brot

Great story from start to near the end, the ending wrapped up to fast. Most of this was long and deeply connected from Tristan to Kady and to the reader but getting towards the end it was going by very fast and glossed over when he chased her to her apartment in Portland from Indiana, him pouring his heart out then next paged their married and a few sentences about what happened but mo the later. That part throw me, I’m 100% invested in this story and to have that, I’m in a tailspin.

“I’m an ordained Catholic priest. Check. I’ve broken the vow of celibacy. Double check. I’m not your mama’s cleric, lookswise or otherwise.”

When Father Tristan Cleary, now a resident priest at Saint Benedict’s, encounters his one major paradox of pleasure and shame from his past in the form of Kadence, more than a decade after she had left Carkeek, Indiana, it was for a confession...with the woman who was his ex-fiancée.

It has taken much for Kadence “Kady” Janacek to return to

Father is the first book in the Men of the Cloth series as well as the debut novel from author Lark McCaffrey. This book tells the story of Tristan (Father Cleary) and Kadence. Before Tristan went to seminary school, the two dated and were engaged to be married. Then something terrible happened which tore them apart. Now, eleven years later Kady returned home and decided it’s time to fill him in on what actually ha

Both Saintly and Sinful

Priest or not, Tristan is no angel. Just reading the book's prologue as he speaks his mind will alert you to that. What he is, is a good man at heart. That's the heart of this book, in my opinion. There are times when he deals harshly with Kadence, the heroine and his childhood love, that he isn't too likeable. From that, though, is a stream of reality about the nature of passionate men, like Tristan. It's touching to see him, and Kadence, question where his true passions

I was thrown off with Tristan, the man and Father Cleary, the priest. I suppose I always thought of a priest as holy and while still faulty and human, always striving to be a better man and follow in god’s path. Instead, Tristan behaved, thought, and swore like a biker and treated Kady with very little forgiveness. He said he felt a calling when he was nine, but it was hard to picture him as a devout anything with his actions and thoughts.
As a romance, there were intense graphic scenes, but Kad

Wow, I was blown away!!!!!

This book gave me pause, as a result, I was leary of the subject matter, but was drawn in from the get-go!!! The depth of emotions and feelings that were evoked by this story around me. I found myself wanting to shake the priest so many times, and wanted to hug the heroine and cry along with her. I have walked a mile in her shoes, and so many times i found myself nodding along to her feelings and thoughts, I almost wishes i could hug her and commiserate over ben&jerry's

A steamy read with a huge amount of angst. But I had a difficult time reconciling Tristan's anger with his chosen profession. Yes, he is human but his anger to Kadence seemed over the top and completely against what his own Holy Book teaches.
Luke 6:37 - Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
James 1: 19-20 - let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the ri

Tristan and Kadence have known and loved each other since they were kids. Tristan received his calling to be a priest from an early age and between God and Kadence it was a toss up as to which way he would end up. But Kadence did the unthinkable sending Tristan into priesthood. He cursed he for a long time. She returns after ten years to confess to Tristan who doesn't want to hear from her and verbally lets her know. But after confession will it turn the tides of his emotions, will it change his ...more

Surprisingly good!

It took me a while to get into this story. A couple of times - I almost stopped reading completely - mainly because I did not like Tristan at the beginning. I thought he sounded like such a jerk and it just seemed so outlandish that a man like himself would be a F-bomb dropping, cheating priest who lusted after a woman he had discarded earlier. Fortunately, I kept reading and the story did get much better. My reasons for not liking Tristan began to recede after he began showing

I want to like this book. There are pasa I do like. But it's so repetitive, and kinda dull. Perspective is constantly changing. You know those movies that just stay following someone who crosses a characters path and then follows someone else? It's kinda like that. Not always obvious whose perspective you are reading either. I decided that if I had to read about how special a swearing tattooed priest with a nipple piercing is one more time I would set the book aside. Low an

This book features Tristan and Kady. I am torn over this book. I loved Tristan and Kady’s love story but at the same time it felt strange because he was a priest. A priest that acted crazy obsessed with her. A priest that was good looking, sexy and cursed like a sailor. Let’s not forget how good he was in the bedroom. He was mean to her often and she seemed a glutton for punishment. Her secret was profound though and was a story changer.

I’m NOT offended by this story. I loved it but di

This is a very emotional read. To say that Tristan and Kady's relationship history is complicated is a very big understatement. With betrayal, heartbreak, anger and pain tainting Tristian's heart for years afterwards, he is far from receptive when Kady shows up looking to explain. The angst level is very high as these two struggle to deal with everything that happened before and the now, which offers its own complications. Steamy, dramatic and poignant, this book is both intriguing and engaging. ...more

Great hot story. Tristian called to the ministry at age 9 meets the love of his life at age 11. They were engaged to be married then a horrific thing and tragedy happen. The wedding is off. Tristian goes on to become a priest and for 11 years Kady is a semi nomad. The main part of the book is what happens when Kady comes home. I really like Tristan he is unlike any priest you ever heard of, I was glad Kady stopped being a mouse. And the Scriptures were so on point and accurate. It is a must read ...more

Oh boy! I did like the synopsis it looked like it had a lot of potential but it was WAY over the top which made it too unbelievable. I'm all over a tormented character but Tristan was just too much.

There were elements that were okay but the way Tristan the Priest was written was too hard to swallow. I like pushing things to the edge but this was too much leaving a more negative taste in my mouth instead of thinking he was a tormented person.

This was a very hard read for me, there was so much pain that both of these characters have gone through.

Beautiful written book with so much emotions that it broke my heart at times but I was rooting for them to find some peace, and a way to bridge the gap that had form in the years that they were apart.

His love for God, was is stronger than the love of a woman?

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

his book was not what I expected. It was tamer than expected. I didn't care for Tristian too much. From the day he saw Kady, he was terribly mean to her. He didn't want to hear her excuse/confession. Then he did. Then he didn't. Despite how poorly Tristian treated Kady, she gave into him everytime. I was hoping for a stronger female character. Still, I enjoyed this read! HEA.

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.

From page 1 of this book I knew it was going to be good.

Father McCleary gave his heart once to a girl, the girl of his dreams only to have her leave town and him behind. So he turned to his second love, the church and God. They would never leave him. Through the years he knew about Kady's coming and goings in the town to see her family, but never run into her. Until she sought him out, to tell him her version of the truth. Only he doesn't care anymore, he's done. He's moved on. So should she. hi

I believe that this is a new author because I could not find any more books by her. She will be continuing the "Men of the Cloth" series and I'm looking forward to reading her next 2 books.. Being of Catholic faith I thought I might be offended by this subject. Just the opposite. I enjoyed the story, the characters and the end.

I was hooked on this read from beginning to end. Tristan/Father Cleary isn’t your typical Priest and he is the first one to admit it. Kadence and Tristan have great chemistry and the story is filled with lots of drama and emotion. The characters have great depth and the story is emotional and entertaining. I really liked it.

Wow...this is one unexpectedly good read! The language is raunchy; the sex even raunchier. The storyline is quite good; character development is pretty darn amazing; and the HEA is kickass. The use of scripture throughout is a great technique. You need this one on your TBR list for sure. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and was totally blown away by it.)
