A really great addition to the Health and Happiness Society. This deals with some very complex issues, bulemia, single motherhood, divorce, and self-care to name a few and does it well. This book caused a lot of deep reflection for me, especially with self care. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it highly. Katie does a fantastic job!

Hear Me Roar is the fourth installment of the Health and Happiness Society from Katie Cross. It is the story of Bitsy, a woman driven by her need to control every aspect of her life and body. She runs a weight-loss/health group, she is a single mother of two girls, she has her own business, a new neighbor, and she is a superstar on her calorie counting app’s message boards. Bitsy is the one person everyone looks to for guidance.
What everyone doesn’t know, however, is Bitsy’s control hides her fe

Have you ever tried to read a “self help” book and just about nodded off every single time? Or wanted to roll your eyes so hard at the author and wondering what on earth kind of life they have been living and what qualified them to give life advice? I can’t read informational, non fiction books about how to better myself. It just doesn’t apply, it doesn’t mesh with myself. I just read other peoples issues, and their solutions.

Now, I’m not sure I have ever read a fictional series that has made m

Once again Katie Cross does not shy away from the big issues - single parenting, control issues, eating disorders, and the effects of not dealing with your past in a healthy way - yet many of these issues can feel less burdensome and easier to deal with when you are looking after yourself. The way Katie writes makes you feel personally invested in Bitsy's life; I found myself getting indignant on her behalf (the ex! grrrr!!!), pitying her in hard times, and feeling proud of her personal growth.

Another amazing book written by Katie Cross! I love how each and every book in the health and happiness society can be related to our own lives. And each one (though not written as a self help book) leaves you with various ways to improve your own life. For example in “Hear Me Roar” you’ll learn how to make self care a priority while following Bitsy along her own journey of figuring out exactly what self care means to her. I feel as a mom myself, we forget to do things for ourselves and even for ...more

The next installment of this series delves deeper into the life and mind of another member of THHS...Bitsy. You’ve read stories about single moms and their struggles, but this one goes a step further. Dare we utter the word...bulimia?!? And actually TALK about it?!? Even if you’re not afflicted with any of Bitsy’s issues, you can still intimately relate to the characters through the authors writing. You do not have to read the other books in the series in order as they each stand alone and focus ...more

Hear Me Roar is POWERFUL!!! Diving into the nitty gritty details of self care and how extremely difficult it can be at times. This book took me to a place as a mother that really stirred up some emotions. I laughed with Bitsy. I raged with Bitsy. I sobbed ugly tears with Bitsy. And in the end I ROARED with Bitsy.

Katie has an extremely amazing way of diving into the lives and struggles of women, mixing up our emotions, and helping us come out stronger through her characters. I have learned so mu

Katie Cross has done it again. She continues to deliver heart wrenching, eye opening stories in her Health & Happiness Society series. In Bitsy’s story we finally learn the reasons behind her need for control, and how far that need stretches through her day to day life. After one of her weakest moments Bitsy learns about self care and how important it is to be able to loosen the reins on her control issues. It was great to watch her grow and start to care for herself in more than just trying to ...more
This book hit aspects of my life that I didn't even I was struggling with. I don't know how she does it, but once again, Katie has wrote a novel that speaks to all. This is one of Katie Cross's best books yet! This is Bitsy's story. Hear Me Roar is book 4 in the Health and Happiness Society series. You can read this book with out reading the others first. No cliffhangers. Bitsy is the "leader" of a group of women who meet every week via video or in person. They support each other in many ways including eating, exercise, and life in general. Bitsy is the go to friend for strength and to keep you in check. She is extremely organized. She has to be in control ...more

Okay, this has been my favorite volume of the Health and Happiness Society yet… probably because there were a lot of things about Bitsy I totally understood, either on a personal level or through people I really cared about. Being a single mom, getting a divorce, and some of the other related issues that Bitsy went through are things I can relate too. Also learning about self care. I really struggled with that a lot during my life as a mom, single or not. The funny thing is I didn’t like Bitsy t ...more

If you really want to look deep in your soul and evaluate where you are at and what self care really is, then this is the book for you. Bitsy, the main character draws you into her world and goes through challenges and the everyday mundane things of life. She is a mama bear who fights for her kids, while trying to find the self care she needs to enjoy life. With everyone of Katie Cross Health and Happiness Society books I get attached to another individual who helps me reflect on my life and how ...more

Bitsy is ALL about control. In every aspect of her life. Until she's not. And, her child sees it. What does she do? What would you do? Bitsy's story is so contemporary & important. How many of us are going ten ways from Sunday... EVERY DAY? We've lost ourselves these days. What do you do as self care? Aren't you worth it? Bitsy shows us how to get started... ...more

This is Katie Cross' latest book in the Health and Happiness Society series. I thoroughly enjoyed this thought-provoking book; it was a great story that made me think and examine how I do (and don't) take the time to take care of myself. I strikes the right balance between real and raw, without being harsh. Great job Katie! Can't wait for the next installment.

I adore the characters in this series, and the self-care focus of Hear Me Roar really hit home for me and helped me remember that I need to take better care of myself in order to really give others what they need from me. In addition to that, it is just a marvelously written story and I loved it!

I loved this book. I didn’t expect to connect so well with Bitsy, since I’m a single woman with no kids who has never had an eating disorder or been divorced, bur Bitsy resonates. I loved her story. Can’t wait for more!

I love Katie Cross. Her books touch on the real things in life. Her books are raw without being harsh and can touch the soul. I have a little Bitsy in my soul. She is strong and her need for control is easily relateable. I will definitely be rereading this book!

Might be the best of the bunch. Who can’t relate to the need for control? I appreciated the way Cross dealt with the difficult topics of divorce, custody battles, forgiveness and eating disorders. A book everyone who has ever imagined the illusion of control should read.

Another home run for the Health and Happiness Society. Bitsy breaks my heart in this one. Who knew that the strong and powerful, always in control Bitsy was so broken? Katie is a wonder! This book is just another reason that every woman should read these books. They send a powerful message.

Bitsy's story hit home for me. She was me 20 years ago. If I didn't know better, Katie wrote my story.

This book is about letting go of what you can not change, what you can not control even when you want to like your life depends on it. This book is about forgiveness towards yourself and others. This book was honestly to me the best of the series to date.

I love this whole series! What I love the most is how relatable the characters are. They each struggle with some real life challenge(s). This is one book I couldn’t put down. The main character deals with her need to be in control and try to be superwoman, when she realizes (with help from others) that she needs to take time for herself. You can’t pour from an empty cup. This book had so many great lessons! It’s a book I’ll definitely read over and over again! The other thing I love about this b ...more
