All my childhood fantasies have come true, but reality is never as simple as we would like. I dreamed of living in a wondrous world of the supernatural and having magical powers of my own. Now, I have all of that, but it comes with a caveat—a six-foot brute who is supposed to train me on all things Fae.
He is a dauntless warrior of the Wild Hunt.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the previous book in this series, and I still breezed through this one very quickly, I found this one to fall back into the pattern of book 1: the story was quite lacking. As in, there wasn't one.

The whole thing was basically about sex and insta-love and toxic relationships. I feel like the writer threw a random stalker/murderer into the mix just to spice things up a bit and to have at least a little excitement besides all the relationship drama. I gu

I really enjoyed this, the book keeps you hooked from page 1. I hadn’t read the previous two books but that wasn’t an issue at all, I dove straight into the world and didn’t feel out of place. The characters are well written and likeable, the book flew by and was sad when it ended, if any criticisms it was felt a bit short and I’d have loved it to go in longer.

Full Review on my blog!

After reading Shadow Play and Twilight Siege, I had to read this~

And honestly I thought I would have been better. I liked it, but not as much as the first two books.

Shades of Betrayal is written in a dual POV, focusing on Ashley and Michael I’m soooo happy that Michael got his own book. This is the third book in the series and features some familiar faces and some new faces as well. It covers from before the defeat of Morgan to a few months after and involves Rebecca quite

Thank you NetGalley and Jill Ramsower LLC for this arc.

Shades of Betrayal has received decent reviews here and on Goodreads and I looked forward to reading it. It's classified as a mystery/thriller, romance and several reviews mentioned the steamy romance.

I'm no prude and have nothing against some soft porn in my mystery stories. There were also fantasy elements hinted at in the beginning (fae) and honestly I expect some soft porn in most fantasy books.

But there was NO story at all here, at le

If you're looking for something steamy with a slab of fantastic Fae mischief then you're in for a treat!

Jill Ramsower does not disappoint in her stand alone spin off of the best friend's side of story from her previous books. You can read this one by itself, but I have to admit it is much better having known the whole story from the other two books.

The book follows Ashley, the best friend of Becca from the first two books. To be honest I really enjoyed Ashley's character a lot and she definitely

This review here explains a lot of what I thought about this book. I wanted more of a story than just the characters sleeping together from the beginning with some vague semblance of filler in between more of that. This book belongs in a series but can be read as a standalone so if I'm already not invested in the characters (which I'm not) that are present in the book what's the point of it in the first place? If I wanted to go there I have the option of going to the erotica sub-genre

OMG!!! I think I actually liked Ashley's story more than Rebecca's lol! I certainly enjoyed it more for some reason. I think I laughed more. I instantly feel in love with Ashley and Michael. I expected not to like this book but I don't know why. They are an even cuter couple then Rebecca and Lochlan, if you ask me. I think I liked this story better because it more challenging for the couple from the very start and watching them go through these growing pains gave the story more substance. Thorou ...more

I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Okay. Honestly? I LOVED this book. I loved how I got insight into both Michael's and Ashley's minds and thought processes. I was a little confused with how the book started, just because I was thinking it would start right after Twilight Siege (The Fae Games #2) ended, but it started sort of in the middle and maybe more towards the end of Twilight Siege. I also had to get it into my head to have a certain mindset w

I enjoyed the Fae Games duet, which features primarily Rebecca (that is, the story is told from her POV only.) Ashley, her friend and roommate appears in both books, but her storyline is definitely not a focus of those books. Shades of Betrayal is written in a dual POV, focusing on Ashley and Michael, one of the members of the Hunt. It covers from before the defeat of Morgan to a few months after and involves Rebecca quite a bit less.

The dual POV definitely gave this book a different feel, and

Shades of Betrayal follows Michael who we met in the original Fae Games series, and I couldn't be more happy that Michael got his own book. You don't have to have read the original Fae Games to follow this, but you do get to meet some characters from Shades of Betrayal more intimately.

Michael isn't an easy man to love, heck he's not an easy person to befriend but Ashley sees something in him, even if most of the time she wants to just walk away from him. Michael works for the Hunt, and he doesn

After reading the first two books in this series, which both focused on Lochlan and Becca, I was interested to see where the author would take the series next. This third book focussed on Becca's best friend, Ashley. In the course of the previous two books, Ashley found herself turned into a Fae when she was as good as dead. Now she is left dealing with all that this new life has to offer.
She had already met and been drawn to Michael. A fae who has plenty of issues of his own. As he and Ashley l

Rebecca's best friend, Ashley, plays such an important role in helping Rebecca begin to find her way in the Fae world. But what happened to her afterward? Well, Shades of Betrayal came along and told me the story I was dying to hear.

Ashley's transition into the Fae world was a little more sudden and jarring than Rebecca's, and she doesn't have the foundation and training that Rebecca does either - and she needs to feed. For Ashley, that means sex - but her whole mindset will about intercourse wi

After reading The Fae Games part one and two, I was really happy to receive an arc for part three. In this book we don't read from the perspective of Rebecca and Lochlan, but from Ashley and Michael's point of view. We had already seen how Ashley got in the crossfire of Ronan and Rebecca. And how Merlin saved her life by making her fae. In this third part we read about Ashley's struggles to cope with her new life and her new abilities. Or better: her lack of ability. Michael is send to her to he ...more

Not a stand alone book.

I realize it was a series, but so often you can read them as stand alone books, because it's just a side character with a bit part to the first or second book. The beginning of this is massively confusing! It's like it starts to tell us about this big battle with Morgan La Fey and then doesn't. It would have been nice if there was an author's note at the beginning stating that this book begins concurrently with events in book 2 (or book 1) but that's Rebecca's story so go

I received an advanced copy of Shades if Betrayal for a fair review.
This is the third book in the series and I enjoyed it to the very last page. Jill Ramsower is very talented and each book she writes makes me more impatient for the next. Shades of Betrayal not only tells the story of Ashley and Michael, but also delves into their thoughts, feelings and personal history. I love how this story delivers two perspectives on several key events. Ashley’s character is no longer just a supporting frie

Michael finally gets his own book and that excited me! This is the third in a series and features some familiar faces and some new faces as well. Michael is a difficult person to make friends with, he is closed off and not easy to love, although Ashley sees something she wants and no one will get in her way.
I love Ashley and her sense of humor and her strong will! She is new to being fae, but she doesn't let that stop her. Michael works for the H

This is another excellent book by Ms. Ramsower! With each new installment of Fae Games stories, this new author gets better & better! In the Duet set of books - Shadow Play & Twightlight Siege - we are introduced to the mythical world of Fairies or Fae and to an ever changing lead character, Rebecca. We are also given a glimpse of her best friend, Ashley. Shades of Betrayal delves deeper into Ashley’s world and her brooding Fae protector, Michael. Rating is more like 4 1/2 stars. This was a follow up to the first two books in the Fae Games series, focusing on Ashley's story.

I really loved reading Ashley's story. She is a feisty, high energy girl who doesn't take crap from anyone - something I know I aspire to be! There was lots of angst between Ashley and Michael, and when they finally came together there were fireworks! While I was able to figure out the antagonist after a while, it still kept me guessing as to the why. Also, I loved re

Shade of Betrayal was an awesome story. It is the third in a series about two girls who used to be human, but have been changed to Fae. This book follows Ashley, who was changed to save her life. She has always wanted the tales of faeries and magic in her fantasy books to be real, and now they are. Who wouldn't want that? I had a very hard time putting it down, and I look forward to more stories in this series, and anything else written by Jill Ramsower.

This is the third is the series and to be honest while it can be a stand alone I think I would have had a better understanding if I had read the other books first. And this is the first I have read from this author.

This was just not for me. I enjoy romance and I enjoy adult content books but this was like watching a porn with no storyline. Seemed they barely said hello and bam they are sleeping together. There is no background story for the most part.

Ashley and Michael's relationship began with a series of mishaps, struggled as Michael continued to keep his secrets, and dissolved with the biggest betrayal imaginable. I found this book charged with intrigue and untold emotional and physical hazards. This high energy narrative captured my attention with its bold characters and exciting storyline. I couldn't wait to see how Michael and Ashley would come to terms with their attraction for each other. It is definitely worth reading. Great Story!! ...more

Dark romance, fantasy, sizzling suspense. It was perfect in every way! I highly recommend getting this series!

Loved!

If you love reading of the Fae you will love this story! Ashley is a human turned Fae. The apprentice of Merlin. Merlin changed her to save her life. So she must learn to adjust. She is assigned to work with Michael to train and learn of her powers. I love how they come together. I also love how she’s a badass and doesn’t back down. She is strong and pushes through. I highly recommend this book, definitely a must read!

Shades of Betrayal is the third book in the series. Although I did not read the first two book I was able to read this book as a standalone.

For me, I had a hard time getting into the book as I felt it had too much of an erotic substance to it and not as much mystery as it alluded to in the description.

That being said the characters I felt were well written and I enjoyed the twists and turns surprising me at the end.

I received the ARC of this book and I Enjoyed it. I like the way she moved into the other characters and told Ashley’s story and how the transition affected her. I can’t wait to learn about the other characters. It seems like it is set up to be a continuation which id be interested to see how the Huntsman changes or if they will allow women into their ranks. Great job!!!
