Whenever I want to read a book that will make me laugh, feel inspired and leave me in a total feel good mood, I know I can count on Colleen Coleman. There’s always something empowering about her books, she writes about relatable women who go on these fun journeys of self discovery and never fail to lift me up.
This begins on Lily’s wedding day when she is left at the altar in an utterly humiliating fashion. Fast forward three years and while Lily believes she’s happy and satisfied with her life,

I am kicking myself for not reading this sooner. Well, you know what they say . . . better late than never. But one thing is for sure; Colleen Coleman has got a very devoted fan.
So what are the bits I loved? Absolutely everything -- the language, story, characters and the inspiration that emits from each and every page. Seriously, if you are on a writing slump, this book will surely guide you back to your desk. As Lily takes charge of her life and also her role as the new editor of the newspap

Quickly I realized this book is not for me.I had a really tough time following this story. I did not connect with the characters or the story line for that matter. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this complimentary book. All opinions expressed are my own.

I was a bit disappointed in how this novel turned out. From the description I hoped this would be about a spunky journalist that takes the world by storm with her ideas and develops a hot relationship with her co-worker. I expected a rom-com and got a very lukewarm story about a woman who gets jilted by her fiance and takes the initiative to save her job while completing a bucket list. I didn't laugh once nor was impressed with her adventures. The story just filled the pages with mindless babble ...more

I was really looking forward to starting this novel, I wanted something a bit different to what I usually read and this fit the bill perfectly. The cover is bright and so eye catching. I love the colours used, the stars really stand out, and it kind of shows you that the main character of this story will be going on some sort of journey. It doesn't give too much away but it gives you some sort of indication as to what the story is all about.

I didn't read Colleen's other novel, and after finishin

Sometimes you don't know how covers connect with contents with this one is a perfect choice. You can see that the main character Lily is on a long and very winding road. The question is : will she finds what she is hoping and looking for? The answer can be found in the book, of course, but I am not going to reveal it. You will have to find out for yourself.

This story is about thinking you had it all and being very disappointed. It's about losing the ability to trust people and hiding yourself, a

Thank you so much NegGalley for the ARC . This book was unexpected . I enjoyed the ride . I laughed out loud and cried while reading it . I felt so many emotion . This book was about Lily’s decision to take her life and happiness into her own hands. Forgiveness and life lesson . I love her relationship with her Mum at the end . I’m so glad that she found her life partner.

Move over Beyonce, there’s a new sassy lady in town!!

Lily has never felt….good enough. She’s never felt….worthy. She has never felt like she belongs. Ever since she had her heart smashed into a pulp, Lily decided to take the number 20 bus to ‘I’ll never fall in love again’. Some of you might be familiar with it. Hell, some of you might even be familiar with Lily’s feelings. Haven’t we all felt like that at one point in

Lily's life is feeling a bit stagnant, it is three years since she was jilted at the altar for her best friend and she definitely doesn't want to move on in another relationship and risk that hurt again, but her work on the newspaper is also dull with nothing exciting to report on. Then Chris is brought in to help save the paper....... can Lily rise to the challenge of reporting on her own stunts...... and what about Chris himself can she dare to feel again!

Another enjoyable book by this author,

My first book by Colleen Coleman and I was not disappointed! We follow Lily who somehow finds herself Editor in Chief of the failing newspaper at which she works. Lily is tasked with increasing sales for the newspaper and she goes about it by starting a bucket list blog which starts with a skydive. The way in which the blog is written was simply stunning. I absolutely loved the sense of unity and togetherness of Lily’s colleagues, such a lovely real working environment. I won’t give away any spo ...more

I like cute and cozy books that take place in little English towns, I really do. I usually intersperse thrillers and more literary works with meet-cute women's fiction and have often been delighted. But this slow-moving novel's heroine was just...vanilla. So very vanilla.

We meet Lily as she's getting jilted at the altar and immediately fast-forward several years to Lily being promoted to Editor in Chief of the town newspaper and tasked with having to grow readership and revenue. There is so much

Genre: Romance, Women's Fiction

Ah no, not another Women's Fiction :-( I hate the way we rule out 50% of potential readers with this discriminatory genre...

Having got that out – well, a wonderful read. I adored Lily and her friends. After being left at the alter she's thrown herself into her job, really enjoys the way the local paper she writes for is part of the community. She's battling the Editor though, when his predece

At the start of the book Lily is getting ready for her wedding day only things don’t go to plan and just as she reaches the alter she finds out that her fiancé Adam has been having an affair with her best friend Hannah. Finding this out knocked her confidence and her belief that she could be happy so she buried herself in her career as a reporter for the local paper. I needed this book. I love reading books where the main story is about the MC rising up and making changes and this is what Lily does here! Ok, so she’s a little of a control freak at the beginning, planning her wedding to the T. When it all falls apart and all she has is her job and cottage and her books and three years on she believes she is ok. Then there are problems at work and here Lily puts her big girl pants on steps up and shines so bright.

I love a good chick lit book and this one was amazing. I laughed so much and I enjoyed every single word in it. It was my first book by this author but I will definitely be reading more of her now.

"I have a life! And I'm loving every second of it.

Lily Buckley's life was not going as she had planned. Her fiancé left her at the altar three years ago. After that she has lived a quiet life with no big surprises. But now her job is to steer the Newbridge Gazette clear of financial trouble.
Lily is a sweet character. She's lonely after her granny died and her mum lives abroad. I liked the character development of Lily and her mother during the story. And finally Lily had courage to give love a n

I took a chance with this title and I’m glad I did. I’ll be honest, though I had a great time reading the book (and am pleased to say it held my interest start-to-finish), this wasn’t a book that stuck with me, even just a few weeks after reading.

I have read a few of Colleen’s books now and I have really enjoyed them. I read the synopsis for ‘For Once In My Life’ and I just knew that it would be the right kind of read for me at the moment. I couldn’t wait to start reading so I immediately started reading. I am so glad that I did because I absolutely loved it but more about that in a bit.
It took me a little while to warm to the character of Lily as I wasn’t exactly sure what to make of her. I so felt for her when she faced the humiliation

The editor JJ Oakes told her the first day all Lily needed was a genuine interest in people, the courage to follow her instincts, and a knack at getting to the point. Lily had worked at the Newbridge Gazette and it now was her seven year anniversary. Her job was awesome and the whole news crew felt it also. They were a team, a family, in it together, doing what they loved. This was where Lily found her calling, where her first article had been published, where she had met her first group of real ...more

Starting on Lily’s wedding day which didn’t quite turn out as planned, Lily is working her way through life: existing, not living. She loves her job as the lifestyles and human interest reporter for the local paper, even if her boss is constantly putting her down and has turned their little office into a warzone – where people ‘barely’ work and the paper is more adverts than news. Readership has plummeted since the new boss, and it is obvious that the paper is in major trouble. An email announce ...more

Lily Buckley’s lived through every bride’s ultimate nightmare, as Colleen Coleman’s For Once in My Life opens – being jilted at the alter by a man who not only tells her he doesn’t love her, but professes undying love for someone else. And yet she’s apparently lived to tell the tale. Or not.

Three years later, she’s single with a stolen kitten named Chaplin, writing for the Newbridge Gazette. Once in a job she adored, Lily is now facing redundancy, along with all her colleagues: the paper’s teete

The synopsis of this story is slightly misleading and it's done in first person, which can be very tricky to handle. I feel like the author made a good attempt, but I never really connected with Lily. I appreciate that she picked herself up from a horrible thing that happened to her and moved on, but her constant super-happy-peppy-optimism seemed forced. Her mother was a complete trainwreck and didn't really seem to have a point to the story; it was like an afterthought explanation of Lily's lif ...more

Lily is working as a reporter at her local newspaper, and she loves her job. She isn't as keen on her boss, however, and he is ruining the paper and consequently her life as well, since she has no actual life other than the paper, because of being jilted at the altar, three years previously.

I liked the prologue where she starts by describing her wedding day. But the first few chapters were so slow and boring. I never thought it would progress like that.
Later it became interesting and little fun when she started the bucket list item but again I didn't laughed out loud once as it was expected of the book title.

For Once in My Life by Colleen Coleman is a really fun page turner! It has a lot of really good messages throughout. I was highlighting passages to share later and just amazed at how the character Christopher understood people today. His character was spot on in saying that people want to belong and really need community and that as of right now many of us are "nones"! I know Colleen Coleman also gets people too. Colleen Coleman is an Irish- Canadian novelist. She is the winner of the much-coveted Novelicious Undiscovered People’s Choice Award which launched to find the next ‘chick-lit star’.
