Bittersweet is a beautiful story of two "lost" souls who find each other and, in doing so, begin the process of healing and becoming whole again. The theme is familiar, similar to others in the Elkridge series, and for continuity's sake, the storylines overlap to some extent, but each book is unique, featuring interesting, well-developed characters that stay in your heart long after you've read the last page. And while I think Bittersweet could be read as a standalone novel, I recommend reading ...more

Leza's last FBI undercover assignment has left her broken, so she decides to return to Elkridge, Colorado to heal, and rebuild her life. Unfortunately, the local sheriff didn't keep his promise to be there when she got there, so it's going to be harder than she thought. Heath is a newer deputy in town, raising his young niece, after losing his sister, having no time for relationships, but he never counted on meeting Leza. The moment he set eyes on her, he couldn't deny the connection he felt, bu ...more

A heart-moving second chances romance, Bittersweet touched me at a very deep level and made me want to weep for the characters. However, they were the last people needing sympathy as they made determined efforts to rebuild their lives. Heath gave up his career, one where he knew who he was and what was expected of him, to care for his 7-year old niece when his sister died. Suddenly, dealing with a hurting child and soothing her fears takes more energy than anything he experienced in the military ...more

Very worthy!

This book is another well written tale that is worth the investment of your time and money! This author has built a small town and filled it with people you want to spend your time getting to know. This is a binge worthy series that does stand alone but if you start with book one Blinded you will not only experience the towns growth, but you will have the opportunity to experience the growth of a new author as she finds her storytelling voice and confidence in that talent as it shine

In this final book, Bittersweet, talented author, Lyz Kelley, brings all of Elkridge and the Lonely Ridge characters full circle while continuing to honor not only her military heroes, but her everyday heroes we've grown to care for throughout her series. The plot is serious, yet funny, filled with old and new friends alike. Seven year old Ellie provided both humorous, childlike moments as well as thought provoking, poignant moments. Leza and Heath are great protagonists full of honor and sacrif ...more

I have been following the Elkridge community for awhile now and was waiting for this one. Leza deserves to find happiness even though she doesn't believe it herself. She wants a new start. A place to call home, make friends, build a business where lost souls like her can find peace. Heath is a man in uniform who protects, serves, and puts everyone else before himself. He accepts a challenge head on without hesitation or regret, especially when it comes to raising his niece after the loss of his ...more

Leza a former FBI had an assignment end badly and decided to head back to Elkridge. Heath became a deputy sheriff when he got custody of his niece Ellie after his sister passed away. Neither Leza nor Heath were looking for love but it sure found them. Love the way this author brought Heath and Leza together and how perfect they were for each other. This is a well written, emotional story, with well developed characters. This author has created a beautiful small town full of amazing characters wi ...more

Oh yes, this one definitely has it all. This sweet touching story has danger, loss, humor, need, sweet heat, relatable characters, witty banter, adorable animals, and inspiring friendships. Leza, Heath and little Ellie have been through so much in the past and need so much healing. Their wonderful journey should not be missed. It's a great read.
I volunteered to review an arc of this book. I loved it and subsequently bought it. Actually, I have loved every book in the Elkridge and Lonely Ridge se

I'm giving 4.5 stars. This was a fantastic read! This author really knows how to pull at my heart. Bittersweet was beautifully written and had amazing main characters as well as some old characters that I loved. For me, this book was all about soul searching, finding who you really are and coming out a stronger person. It had some really emotional moments but had Ellie to make me laugh. I love books with kids. I love how precious this little girl is! This entire series has been a true joy to rea ...more

I enjoyed this latest by Kelley. I would recommend reading other stories in this series by her first though, as we get the destruction that our heroine goes through that requires her to build her life in this one. There is a lot of emotion and heartbreaking/touching moments! I found myself easily lost with these characters and the drama that surrounds them.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing.

I started to read the opening scene and thought to myself, ‘light of heaven! I’m going to be a weepy, emotional mess by the time this book is over.’ I wasn’t far wrong, but there aren’t the big, ugly-cry scenes I was expecting. Instead, it’s the small moments that hit you with the emotional impact of a speeding freight train. Remembering beloved moments with the important people who are no longer with us. Reconnecting with the people dear to us that we’ve been separated from. Recognizing the int ...more

A good novel to read. Set in Elkridge, Colorado, Heath & Leza meet when she returns to town after an undercover operation & time away. Both have hidden emotional scars, making it difficult to let it go & to get back into the present to start living once again. Together, as well as nudges from others pushing them together, they realize worrying about those they love, doesn't necessarily mean they are gone forever.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Compelling characters in Leza Nickerson, a former FBI agent, and Heath Watson, who works in law enforcement. Each of these characters has an extensive past and something they are trying to get over and heal from. If you enjoy a good intriguing read, with some incredible characters, romance, healing and second chances in life, then this book will keep you on the edge of your seat.

I love this series. Lyz Kelley has done a great job with these characters. Leza and Heath have a complicated story. Throw in a little girl who misses her mom and I'm hooked. Even if you haven't read the rest of the stories, give this one a chance. I found it to be an uplifting read. I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest review.

A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. Leza never wants to fall in love with a man in uniform but love doesn't happen when and with who you wish. Heath a military career until he takes on the responsibility of his sister's daughter Ellie after Zoe passed away. A touching story you don't want to put down.

I suppose this is one of those it's not you, it's me . The plot is interesting and the book is well written but I don't think the style and I are compatible. I couldn't connect with the protagonists, their attraction is obvious but I didn't feel it.
