Tieran Wilder does an incredible job narrating this audiobook. I loved the Texas drawl she had for all the characters and how she did the male voices. With that out of the way, let me get to the juicy bi

This one was enjoyable. Nothing out of the ordinary. A take-off on a Cinderella story. Sweet HEA. Listened to this on audio. Excellent narration.

Aww what a great story!
The story has a lot of similar attributes that we see in a rich cowboy scenario. One of them is the girl next-door.

After meeting in high school, Ella developed a man-size crush on Luca that never faded. When opportunity came knocking for her to have her own home that happened to be a neighboring lands with the Prince family, she dreaded running into Luca.

Shy and unassuming, Ella is definitely not one to stand out in a crowd. When Luca realized who she
I had read several of Julia’s highlander books, so I was pretty intrigued at what a cowboy story from her would look like.

I loved Ella and Luca. They’re both genuinely good people and more alike then they know. I enjoyed their playfulness and their conversations and how the relationship grew into something more naturally. There’s a pretty good base of characters here and some of them stole the show {Grandma Dolly, I’m looking at you}. Hopefully we’ll get to see more of them in the future.

I was kinda excited about this new series by Julia London. It looked slightly different than her usual stuff so I couldn't wait to try it. I was hard-pressed to remember if she's written about a cowboy before. I'd have to go look. Since I love me a good cowboy, I jumped right in.

As I mentioned, The Charmer in Chaps is the first book in the Princes of Texas series. I think the author did a wonderful job of setting u

Sweet, dysfunctional, small town romance…

Ah, the quiet and loudness of a small town is on full display in the first of the Prince family stories. Do you know what I mean? Small towns with homes spread far and wide, a downtown of one full block and people going about their business, quietly. But open a few doors and you find that people are people – critical, loving, supportive, and oh so dysfunctional. Including the Princes…

The Charmer in Chaps is a sweet and endearing romance that is sure to past the test of time.

Ella is an accountant that has struggled with her beginnings in the foster care system. She is pulled back to Cimarron County when she is told that her biological grandmother has left her her run down farm in her will. Ella jumps at a chance to have something of her own and goes back to Cimarron, only to discover that the farm is inhabited by a rag tag collection of misfit animals, the house is in worse c
THE CHARMER IN CHAPS is meet-cute scrumptiousness, exactly how I love my romantic reading. Lots of flirting and charm overload that made me laugh. I needed this couple’s happy-ever-after as much as they did!

Luca Prince is clueless sometimes on how to woo a woman. He slid by on his stunning good looks, a radiant smile, and extreme wealth, so much that he doesn’t even realize he’s pathetic. But any guy who refers to a woman he admires as t

The Charmer in Chaps by Julia London is the first book in her new Princes in Texas series. I loved reading this sweet romance, in a small western town, with some great characters.

Ella Kendall, our heroine, returns to Three Rivers, Texas, after her grandmother died and left her a rundown house. Ella, just barely makes ends meet, as she tries to find more work as an accountant. Ella had a difficult childhood, moving from different foster homes, as her mother was in jail; but before that she had a

This was bad..its really that simple.

I’ll start with Ella. She was a pretty decent character and had an interesting backstory as a former foster kid, but then the author ruined her with how stupid she got around Luca. She’s supposed to be a tough, street-smart, hardworking woman - and she sees him and becomes this vapid, obsessed, tongue-tied idiot. Other than his good looks, I have no idea why she was interested in him. It all just sounded like a weird high school crush that she wanted to reliv

I really enjoyed this first book in a new series introducing us to the Prince siblings. Ella and Luca's story was an opposites attract/unrequited crush story with good pacing, fun banter, and a well-rounded story.

I really like the slow but steady progression of the friendship between Luca and Ella and how Luca was the one who was doing most of the chasing. Though I don't always love the whole former manwhore turned loyal lover storyline, I did enjoy getting to know Luca and seeing that he was s

Oh boy! Julia London has surprised and delighted me again. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of The Charmer in Chaps, a contemporary small town romance and the first in a new series.
This story is set in Three Rivers, Texas and stars Ella Kendall, a survivor of the foster care system, and the stunningly handsome and utterly charming Luka Prince. With her mother in prison and having endured some unspeakably awful foster situations, Ella has always tried to do the right thing, including studying

This is a must-read for anyone who enjoys contemporary romance with a western flair. But don't pass this one up if you don't typically reach for books with a cowboy hero. This is sure to appeal to anyone who also likes a small town Texan setting or a story that features a prominent wealthy family.

I especially enjoyed the main characters, Luca and Ella, and the difficulties they encountered. They had serious challenges and obstacles to their long term happiness together, but they were clearly me

Cimarron County knows the youngest son of the fabled Prince family as a womanizing hell-raiser, but Luca has another side to him. There were many strengths to this book. First, it was very well actualized. The language is solid, with some wonderful conversational passages. The main characters, Ella and Luca, fall in line with many tropes of the genre (high school classmates, huge/ uneven crush, playboy and poor girl. The tropes of the genre (notice I don't say stereotypes) didn't at all bother me. The nuances of character outweighed any elements of familiar plotting.

Of course, the tone of my first sentence should indicate

I am a newbie to Julia London, but no more! I absolutely loved this book! The Charmer in Chaps is hilarious (Luca's mother and grandmother especially), honest, sexy, and romantic. Regardless of how things were growing up, we all had that one guy that was our vision of perfection, right? Twelve years after Luca randomly kisses Ella at prom, they meet again when she moves back home to inherit her grandmother's crumbling house. She snubs him at first, mortified that he doesn't remember her, but onc ...more

I received a copy of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. A Charmer in Chaps is the first book in Julia London’s excellent new series The Princes of Texas. On the surface Luca Prince would seem to have everything going for him, wealth, charm and good look and while his family is slightly dysfunctional he’s never doubted their love for him. He’s been hiding a secret though .... because of his dyslexia he’s never learned to read and so now at the age of 30 he’s taking ...more

Julia London's first offering in The Princes Of Texas series.  Entitled The Charmer In Chaps is a very sweet second chance romance with a Contemporary Western flare. The comedic timing, snark, and with laced interactions between both leading lady, Ella, and her hunky but often Luca.  Spot on and guaranteed to keep the pages turning.

Couple this with a very likable and colorful supporting cast.  And the secret that Luca has carried since childhood.

Ella Kendall has inherited a rundown house from her grandmother. She loves having her own place. She wants to belong. I was touched by her desire to belong. She hides her feelings and emotions. Being in the foster system taught her to hide her heart. She's such a wonderful person. The way she cares for the abandoned animals made me feel good. When she runs into her high school crush Luca Prince. I had to laugh. The wealthy playboy doesn't know how to handle the fiery Ella. She won't let him know ...more

It was a DNF for me. I liked the idea behind the story, but I found the inner dialogue and just the overall feel of the book to be slow and boring. I tried giving this a chance on three separate occasions, but was never able to make it to the halfway point.

I don't recall reading any of Julia London's historical romances, but cannot resist a western romance whether historical or contemporary. The subject matter in Charmer in Chaps could happen and be part of a good story no matter if it is a western or not. To her credit London tackles three serious life aspects -- a learning disability, the fall out of growing up in the foster care system and sexual harassment. She approaches these issues with care and compassion. At times I wanted to tell her, ye ...more

The Charmer in Chaps is the first book in the Princes of Texas series. We are introduced to the wealthy Prince siblings. Nick is the oldest and has twin siblings, Nick and Hallie.
This story belongs to Nick. Nick is a very unique and strong hero. He has suffered from dyslexia since he was young and due to this he has moved along life without being able to read, hold onto a job and have a more stable relationship. Nick has a very big heart and I thought he was a very sweet and real hero.

I have never read any of Julia’s books before and I sincerely loved it. Ella is tough but sensitive and she is determined to make this rundown house she inherited from her grandmother work. She is trying really hard to survive so when her high school crush rides up on a horse she doesn’t think she can breathe never mind survive, but he doesn’t remember her.

Wickedly smart, fast paced dialog...entertaining, witty, oftentimes wry banter, and colorful characters. There is a unique perspective that flows throughout the story...a heartfelt and prevalent message of adult literacy, as well as the need for better stewardship of land use and conservation. These messages are done in such a manner that they are meaningful and impactful, as well as eye openers.

The author has introduced a wonderfully dysfunctional family, who are sure to steal your heart. As b

It's always sweet when a renowned "playboy" falls for the girl-next-door, changing his lifestyle and everything else he thinks will help him prove to her that he's serious about her. What an appropriate title for the first in a new series by Julia London. I was definitely charmed by the lead male character, Luca, who at first may seem like an entitled rich Texas cowboy, but after getting further into his story, he is just like anyone else with self- esteem issues in their lives. Ella has been charmed by Luca since high school, although she believed him to be way out of her league, as she grew up in the foster care system. This was a very nice relationship to see grow.
