After reading 11 fairly decent stories in the Alteruvium Expanse series, I was extremely disappointed in this final short story. The ridiculous number of typos, spelling errors and doubled up words made this really agonising to read, distracting me from what appeared to be a rather dull plot.
A Minerals Survey ship forced to crash-land on an inhospitable planet! With herself injured, and only a handful of survival gear rescued from the crash site, the unfortunate pilot rushes away before the ship finally explodes in a ball of flame. Alone on the desolate and according to initial long-range surveys uninhabited planet her chances of survival are grim. As a survey pilot she was always pressed for time, somehow now she was faced with too much time on her hands. As with all of his books, Carter brings a series of unexpected twists and turns into this story making it a memorable addition to your personal reading library.
Many typos, repeated words and weird pacing (very slow to start, a sudden rush at the end) made this an interesting idea with an execution that just didn't quite work for me.
