There are about 35 short stories included here and Julia loved almost every single one. Some stayed with her more than others of course but even the ones she didn't "love" she still liked. I don't recall a single one that she didn't like at all. As for myself, there were a very few I could have done without. I'd put the number around 2 realistically. There were a few more that were so-so and some were downright interesting even to an adult. They aren't so spooky that they can't be read at bedtime. In fact, that's why it took us so long to finish this - it was a "bedtime book". We would, most nights, read one or two short stories and Julia would go right to sleep. It's a great book to keep around at Halloween but to maybe pick and choose from unless your kid is really into this type of story.
