This lavishly illustrated narrative of human interest stories from the Titanic recounts the building of the ship, its launching, its departure for the ill-fated voyage, and individual stories on notable personalities who were on the Titanic .
Webb Garrison, formerly associate dean of Emory University and president of McKendree College, wrote more than 55 books. Before his death in 2000, Garrison lived in Lake Junaluska, North Carolina.
This book was not on the summer reading list but guess who just watched Titanic for the first time and is going through A Phase. A little outdated (1998) but the back stories of some of the most famous passengers were fascinating. Great pictures too!
A fast, interesting read full of facts about the Titanic and some of her passengers. I picked this up quite some time ago at a thrift store and I'm glad I did because it's one of the better Titanic books I've read. Definitely worth a look if you're fascinated by the famous wreck.
Very good book. I loved all the anecdotal stories of the passengers on the Titanic that flat-out contradict the legends and popular culture take, a la the James Cameron film, that so many people take as fact. I also enjoyed reading about what happened after the survivors landed in New York. Nearly every other book about the disaster I have read ends at that point and don't address the inquires into the disaster on both sides of the Atlantic or the recovery of the bodies. It was a very good and quick read and I would recommend it to any history buff to read.
