Cammi Adams and Randy Mason are great students. Or at least they were, before Mr. Jules and Ms. Sherman, two of the harshest graders in middle-school history, became substitute teachers at SVMS. Cammi thinks there's only one way to get the subs to soften: make them fall in love...with each other!

Playing matchmaker isn't easy, so Cammi convinces Randy to put aside his books long enough to help her out. Cammi and Randy make a great team, but as their efforts start to pay off, Cammi realizes there's another match she wants to make. Can lightning strike between her and Randy?

Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.

I love this book, I've read it at least three times now! It's one of my favorites out of this series. Warning *SPOILERS*

Sweet Valley Middle School is having a little school competition of sorts to see which kid can get the best grades. Cammi and Randy are both entered in it, as well as another kid from a different school. The prize is an entire day off of school during the week!

Now, Jessica is more determined than ever to help the two students win! She'll help either student or, even, both! And she tries, but it actually turns into a matchmaking event! In order to make their two very competitive, cranky substitute teachers happy, they're going to try and get them together! With a quick poll to find out what they like, Jessica's on the job!

But when she leaves her notebook out, the teachers find that poll and the clever plan backfires.

During all this, though, Cammi falls for Randy and vise versa. But Randy's too shy once he realizes his feelings and Cammi feels like he's pushing her away and being rude.

Will the teachers get together? Will Cammi or Randy win? Will Cammi and Randy confess their feelings?

I'll let you read the book and find out! ;)

There are times when the kids-setting-up-the-adults storyline really works a charm. There are times when it does not. This book belongs to the latter category. Head? Meet wall.
