A 'lovely old read...

Following David Richards' debut novel, The 'Lovely' Past, I approached this book with much excitement. The 'Lovely' Old Dears is a throbbing gristle of a read, with a dark comedy overlay. Murder should not be this funny, yet it is in so many ways here. That's mainly due to the matter-of-fact attitude of the main two characters, who lure the reader in with their zest for 'keeping the streets clean'. The two dears are strangely likeable. A great follow-up to the first book by this author. The grimness is slightly reduced, the humor is slightly increased leading to a great read. Really enjoyed the story and the characters again each had well constructed and endearing personalities (with one notable exception!)

Look forward to reading the next "lovely" story.

This was a darkly comic book centering around the unlikely pairing of a couple of OAP serial killers and I thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I was laughing out loud on the train and embarrassed myself completely, but it was so worth it!

This book is a lot darker than the authors first novel, and is definitely more in the horror genre and there were a couple of scenes that are not for the faint hearted. But I enjoyed the connections to the original story with a

A darkly comic tale of murderous pensioners

I enjoyed David Richard's first novel "The 'Lovely' Past" immensely; so I was looking forward to his next novel with some eagerness.

I was not disappointed.

This, his second novel, is a dark comedy centred around two "old dears" who do not suffer fools gladly. The only suffering here is that which is inflicted upon those same fools in a variety of imaginative and entertaining ways.
