Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.
Lacey might be my favourite character. Sure, she’s probably a narcissist but she’s fully aware of it lol. I also understand where she’s coming from. Every single adult in her life has failed her or even neglected her…so of course she’s horrible. But she’s just such a complex character! I love it. It does annoy me that Kristin lets her walk all over her, though.
Is Lacey the one in the yellow dungarees? Come on, what cool teenager would wear an outfit like that!? I read a whole bunch of these books when I was nine, before moving on to the SVH, Senior Year and SVU. These were definitely the cutest, and on par with Senior Year for realism.
After Lacey's boyfriend dumps her she puts her sights on someone else - someone who likes Jessica Wakefield. Trouble abounds. Does Lacey actually like this boy or is she just trying to get her old boyfriend jealous??? Drama abounds.
These books are silly but I do like that they have a little bit of depth to them. This version of Sweet Valley is fast becoming my favorite. It's too bad I can't find many of these to read.
