Overall this was good, especially if you are a new vegan and happen to be pregnant. However, if you've been vegan a while and certainly if you've had a baby before, not much of this will be new to you. That being said, it's still great information. However, I did have a few serious gripes. The main being that some of Mangels suggestions are just not realistic. Asking your anesthesiologist if there are animal products in your epidural and requesting medicine that doesn't contain them or that were not tested on animals is just not possible. I work in the healthcare field and unfortunately, with regards to medicine, it all has to be tested on animals by law. Mangels makes you feel as if you have to make a choice between your veganism and the health of you and your baby with regards to healthcare, and that just isn't right. Some things are simply out of our control. Medicine is one of them. #bookworm #bookish #bookstagram #yourcompleteveganpregnancy

Very informative! If you’ve been vegan for a while, the first few chapters won’t be anything new. I did enjoy everything else related to a vegan pregnancy, from vitamins and nutrients to what to expect during each trimester and all the way up to birth, that was covered. It’s definitely geared towards new vegans/first pregnancies and I found it to be a very easy and digestible read.

I think it could have benefited from having like end of chapter summaries with bullet points because I find myself trying to go back and find all the important info I want to refresh myself on.

This book is just what I needed to get peace of mind. It is possible to be vegan and have a healthy pregnancy. There are also recipes in the back of the book!

To be fair I didn't read the whole book, mostly used it as a reference and mainly when I first got pregnant. Helpful info about supplements and diet for sure. I ended up having such bad morning sickness for a lot of my pregnancy that many of the nutritional guidelines went out the window (I was less concerned about getting enough omega 3's than I was about keeping any food down at all) but it was still helpful info.

This book was much more helpful than I anticipated. Besides all the nutritional help and guides, there were detailed tips on all areas of birthing, including a write-in section in the back where a pregnant person can detail their hopes for their birth experience. This book is a must read for all pregnant vegans but anyone pregnant, whether vegan or not, would benefit from reading this small but information-packed book.

A good little book with lots of useful information and that's easy to read. If you're an experienced vegetarian or vegan, a lot of the information will be familiar to you; however, I still found the pregnancy-specific nutrition charts and breakdowns very helpful. This is a breezy book to read, and written in a conversational manner. There is also a selection recipes included, but a lot of them contain soy and would need subbing out for anyone that is estrogeon sensitive / dominant.

Far fewer recipes than I was hoping for, mostly unappealing. Surprisingly high in sugar given it’s written by a nutritionist. Very targeted to an American readership, some of the ingredients I just had no idea. Large parts of the book are generic pregnancy advice or descriptions. On balance I wish I’d not bought this.

Nothing new in terms of diet ideas or guidelines for vegans. However it is nice to have the recommended nutrient intake specific for pregnancy all in one place. Also some of the recommended links are great resources.
