I really loved this book. I fell in love with Jake, just like Allison. How could I not, a man in his 60's that does everything from raises and ride mules to doing the tango. A true renaisancw man. At first i was with Allison, a man who has been married 7 times, must be something wring with him. But then through the pages of the book I got to know Jake and I couldn't help but like him.

I also have been divorced and was glad when Allison discovered that in relationships, people can change, maybe th

A really good read and a very well written book. It enjoyed reading it and it kept me hooked right until the very end. A good read for people who like 'chick lit' books. The characters that feature in the book have great depth to them thanks to the great detail and descriptions by the author, they make the characters feel realistic and you end up getting caught up in everything that happens. The main character of Jake is

I have found a new author! I loved these characters. I have to admit I guessed the ending but was truly happy with how it ended. This is a romance/ chic lit/ summer beach book, but then again, it is more.

To label this novel as a romance does both the book and its author a disservice. While there are romantic elements to the novel, the most impressive aspects of it stem from excellent writing. Sharp characterization; intriguing plotting; rich description. The caliber of the author's talent in all these areas is literary.

I enjoy fiction that involves relationships...the analysis of a relationship, even its dissection, carries a story in my opinion. Cynthia Hamilton is masterful at this. She invent

I loved this book! It is so well written it is pleasure to read. As the story unfolds between Allison and Jake I was swept along on their journey, delighted by the colorful cast of characters as well as the many vivid landscapes Allison finds herself in. Ms Hamilton has created real life and thought provoking situations that give this story a warmth and depth that made me fall in love with and really care about Jake and especially Allison. This book is intelligent, funny and highly entertaining. ...more

3.5 stars. I liked it. Lucky at Love: Some Guys Just Never Give Up, by Cynthia Hamilton, is one of those books that quietly sneak up on you - no big action or adventure. I wanted to put it aside often, but kept coming back to see if the main character, Allison, would solve the puzzle of Jake Sorenson, a man divorced seven times, or simply sucumb to the man's charms.
My only criticism is for the editor who failed to format this Kindle edition correctly and also did not correct the author when she

“It’s a take on the notion of being addicted to love.” As soon as I saw Judith’s reaction, I knew I was out on a limb. I didn’t want to give her the impression this was to be a soppy, romantic, swept-off-one’s-feet piece. True, I did intend the story to be about love, or what passed for love in some people’s minds. But it was the downside of romance that I was really angling for. I wanted to explore the hypothesis that some people are actually obsessed with falling in love, literally hook

This was a wonderfully written novel with great main characters in the form of mule breeder Jake Sorenson and journalist Allison Tyler-Wilcox. Allison and Jake first meet at Jake’s sisters wedding and when Allison learns that he has been married and divorced seven times she can not believe it when he says that he considers himself to be ‘lucky at love’. Allison can not understand Jake’s attitude, that although he has been divorced many times his marriages were not failures. Trying to understand ...more

I loved reading the book Lucky at Love (Some guys just never give up) by Cynthia Hamilton. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Allison Tyler and Jake Sorenson. When Allison decides to explore the reason that some people keep falling in love and then out of love, she can’t think of a better example than Jake. Jake is a ma

This is not my first book by this author, it is one of my favorites by her. I enjoyed being pulled into the story right from the beginning. This is a romance story that will leave you believing or not believing if opposites attract and if some people just fall in love faster than others. This is a well written story that has characters that brought the story to life. I had no problems connecting with them. They kept me turning pages fast just wanting to see what would happen next. When you meet someone you had prejudged as something else, it makes you take a look into your heart and soul and makes you evaluate what you have.

Allison is successful within her career, at the top of her game but when she has an idea to write an article regarding a man who has been married seven times, she does not predict what a life changer it will become.

Jake is a hopeless romantic, he has been married seven times trying to find the right one but he is not jaded he just jumps back in and loo

An intelligent discourse on love and marriage from both female and male perspectives. I’ve read Cynthia Hamilton’s nonfiction book, Finding Ruth, about her mother’s decline into Alzheimer’s, so therefore it was most surprising to me when I received this book as a gift from a friend, and to discover that this author could also write mainstream fiction, slanted toward romance.

This well-written novel is a complete, utter, pleasant and charming surprise: a neat character-driven story about complete

Lucky at Love: Some guys just never give up...
by Cynthia Hamilton

I enjoyed reading this book. I have read other books by this author and I enjoy her writing style, she never disappoints. Allison is a writer that works for a magazine and after meeting Jake at her friend's wedding she found his multiple marriages intriguing. I think she had a hard time looking at her own marriage and some of the issues played a part in her decision to write this story. Her relationship with her husband seemed mor

I really enjoyed this romance story. It isn't the first book i have read by this author but it is definately one of my favourites.

It follows the idea of opposites attracting and about how we sometimes view people based of their relationships past and present. For example in Jakes case he has been married and divorced 7 times so you start to think whats wrong with this guy. Does he just fall in love to quick? Is he addicted to getting married but gets bored when its official?

These are questions t

I really have enjoyed Cynthia Hamilton’s novels in the past so when I saw Lucky at Love: Some Guys Just Never Give Up.., it was a no brainer to one-click and read this one. I really enjoyed the chic lit banter that made this novel one that was very hard to put down. I really wanted a bit of an escape when I picked this novel up and it did a wonderful job of that, and making me feel like I was on an adventure with these two main characters. Jake is a conundrum to Allison. When they meet and she f ...more

Lucky at Love (Some guys just never give up) by Cynthia Hamilton is a wonderfully written story that I absolutely devoured. I’ve read other books by this author and was very excited about this one, which is now on my list of favorites. I loved this story which is about Jake and Allison He’s a man who feels unlucky in love and has been divorced seven times, she’s a journalist who decides to dig in deeper into why people fall in and out of love and Jake is the perfect example of just that.

Lucky at Love by Cynthia Hamilton a five-star read that was just the pick me up I needed. This story has some of the best interactions between Allyson and Jake, they just spark of each other in a way that sparks of the page. When you throw in the fact that Allyson is interviewing Jake who on the surface seems like the eternal optimist and in some ways reminded me of my dad who we always joked had a passion for wedding cake as he was married and divorced four times, it was nice to see that it was ...more

I wasn't sure entirely what to expect when I picked up Lucky in Love but I've truly come to love Cynthia Hamilton as a writer so I felt it was worth a chance. The book was longer than I anticipated but kept my attention well. It was easy to read and a nice story to relax with at night. What surprised me most about this novel was how much I came to like Jake. Going into the storyline I thought for sure he would be t

Lucky at Love: Some guys just never give up... by Cynthia Hamilton is an interesting, between genres read. It is labeled as a romance, but it covers more than a typical romance. There is romance at different levels. I was not sold on the concept at the beginning and thought I had it all sorted out. Luckily, Ms. Hamilton proved me wrong and gave me a story I didn't expect. What happens when a journalist is after a story? Do their own perceptions change as they get to know a subject? I think it wa ...more

Lucky At Love: Some Guys Just Never Give Up by Cynthia Hamilton is a unique take on the view people have of love and relationships and what constitutes a success. It was interesting to read a book with this perspective as it isn’t something you see everyday. It was not what I expected from it going in which was a pleasant surprise.
At times I did find the writing a bit slow in pace. There were times when I felt the author could have sped up the story a bit or added a little something extra to it.

Lucky at Love: Some guys just never give up... by Cynthia Hamilton is a romance story but also so much more. Cynthia once again has written something that is intriguing and vividly rich with ups and downs and much more. Cynthia gives us characters that are relatable. They have warts and all and have wants and dreams and come with all the flaws, just like we all do, and that makes them so much more endearing. I would have to say that this book is my favourite story from Cynthia.

I absolutely loved this book. You can't help but swoon over Jake. Even though Jake has had a rough past when it came to marriages but despite that he was almost the perfect man. I loved how he and Allison were completely relatable characters. Their past situations are completely realistic and you can't help but completely relate to themselves and how they feel. The author did a great job on the depth of her characters and they were completely engaging. I fell in love with this book and the autho ...more

This book got me hooked right away. It starts out with Allison, the journalist for a magazine, pitching her new story idea about a man who has been married & divorced 7 times. Jake who Allison met at his sisters wedding doesn’t believe he is a failure at marriage. Instead, he feels lucky to have loved so many different women. Jake definitely has an interesting take on marriage and love. I also appreciated that Allison started to really think about her marriage. Books that make you think about yo ...more

Does marriage mean you’ve found a love that lasts a lifetime? For her next magazine article, Allison sets her sites on Jake, who is a repetitive offender of trying to find the one that lasts.
Can she figure out what makes him tick t is he just a womanizer. Allison is baffled by his take on marriage and the fact he doesn’t see his marriages as failures. Through the interview process and spending time with Jake, she realizes she isn’t as immune to his charms as she thinks she is.

This story follows Allison and Jake. I think the fact that Jake has been married 7 times made my jaw hit the floor! Allison was also intrigued with his many marriages, so much so, that she decided to write an article about them. Jake makes Allison think about her own marriage – and how it is lacking. Jake and Allison are complete opposites – but opposites attract. Right?

I've become such a fan of Cynthia Hamilton's the more I read her work. This book was no exception. It hits on the fact different people have different opinions on the thing we call "love." The scenic picturesque environments the characters find themselves in set the mood for romance and steamy scenes between the two. Jake has experience in love. The scenery is beautifully described, the characters are easy to love and their stories are inspirational to capture your interest. I enjoyed this book ...more
