A second installment in the author's miniseries is a roller-coaster ride through the corrupt corridors of Hollywood's rich, famous, and powerful that takes an intrepid East Coast reporter into the investigation of a young prostitute's murder. Original.
There have been many imitators, but only Jackie Collins can tell you what really goes on in the fastest lane of all. From Beverly Hills bedrooms to a raunchy prowl along the streets of Hollywood; from glittering rock parties and concerts to stretch limos and the mansions of power brokers-Jackie Collins chronicles the real truth from the inside looking out.
Jackie Collins has been called a "raunchy moralist" by the late director Louis Malle and "Hollywood's own Marcel Proust" by Vanity Fair magazine. With over 500 million copies of her books sold in more than forty countries, and with some 30 New York Times bestsellers to her credit, Jackie Collins is one of the world's top-selling novelists. She is known for giving her readers an unrivalled insider's knowledge of Hollywood and the glamorous lives and loves of the rich, famous, and infamous. "I write about real people in disguise," she says. "If anything, my characters are toned down-the truth is much more bizarre."
Meh. This instalment of the LA Confessions series seems even more insignificant than the last one. And I keep thinking....this can't be how Hollywood people are! And if this really is how they are.... Can we rather just pretend otherwise? There was ONE redeeming (ok that's not quite the right word) part where the *SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER* high class call girl gets busted in the middle of sex with the guy she has unwisely started dating. That gave me a small giggle. Although I am also one of those people who doesn't think that prostitution is an unseemly profession so I don't see why the guy shouldn't just get over it and accept the fact that sex with random strangers is her job. And then just be grateful that she doesn't charge him!
Good guy Jake has not yet found out Kristen sells her body for money, so it is going to be very interesting when he finds out. Kristen does love 💓 Jake, learning, what love is. Kristen hates being a prositute but her motive is , doing it for her sister who is living in a nursing home after a tragic car accident.
In addition to Jake and Kristen, a beautiful blond 👱♂️ bombshell has been murdered. Who is the killer ? Can’t wait to find out and why they done it ?
Like Power, Obsession is a little over 💯 pages, without any boring pages at sight. Reading the two books is like watching a soap opera, classic Jackie Collins, loving it great way to start 2020. Cant wait to read the next instalment ‘ Murder ‘. I am truly enjoying this miniseries.
2.5 stars Better than the first. But what's the genre of this series? I think it's supposed to be mystery but there's not much of it??? There's two crimes happening, one in the first chapter and one in the last and there's no element of mystery in the other chapters. What???? At least it was better than the first book where the murder happened in the prologue and then there was absolutely no mention of it for the rest of the book. Okay, maybe it'll all come together at the end, but the end is the fourth book. So what's the point of the first three books? I don't see why this story had to be split into four books.
LA: the land of movie stars, agents, upper class call girls, high rollers, drugs, journalists, the power hungry, and murders. The uber rich and uber pretty living their uber fantastic lifestyles until boom…blood and bodies everywhere. Quick, good, fast paced read.
Bought the rest of the series for a dollar! Still trashy writing but I got to say I’m intrigued. More so than the first book. I would like to see how it wraps up but after that I’ll probably never think about this series again.
A thrilling part two to the L.A. Connections story. The tension is building and the characters are becoming more intertwined. I'm excited to continue the story.
