This was a super enjoyable read! I loved the content and the plot so much, they were so captivating! The characters were another really strong point of the book for me. The main character, Izzy, is a strong female lead with attitude, independence and courage; she may be a princess but she’s no damsel in distress. Fray and his exquisite blue eyes may have just become one of my new favorite fictional boyfriends 😍
I really enjoyed the romance in the novel as well! It wasn’t always a main focus but t

No, but really, vampires and werewolves are making a comeback in the best way, and I am here for it.

Here are some things you might want to know:

-This was not my first novel, but it is the one I hold dearest to my heart.

-Although my wolves are not werewolves in a sense, they are humans who can change with just a few words spoken. I took from Welsh myths to create

This book is going on my list of "Underrated Titles" and "Books That Don't Get Enough Attention!" I bought Unspoken on a complete whim one day because it was on sale on Kindle. The cover looked beautiful and the description sounded cool. I jumped right into it and I am so glad I did!

Unspoken is set in The New Kingdom, where Princess Isabelle lives and is coming of age--close to marrying age, that is. Her older brother was slain in battle, and he was her hero.

The pieces I loved best about Unspo

"You're seventeen. That's quite normal."

Okay, so I'm DNF-ing this book at 40% because I've had enough. I'm not even half-way through and I've got 25 notes, and the first ones I've got are on the first few pages. I rarely feel so strongly about books that I need to write long long reviews, but friends... the time has come.

To preface this whole thing, I would like to say that I gave it a solid shot, the premise is good, and I enjoyed th

I don’t want to give any stars since I didn’t even make it 6 percent into this book but there are some major problems with it that I feel I need to be mentioned. For one, I feel that this needs a major editing overhaul and was not ready for publication. Missing periods, comma splices, lack of auxiliary verbs, and having the wrong word altogether were some of the grammatical problems, never mind the completely disjointed narrative. Little things like describing a sound as “readable” rather than “ ...more

I instantly fell in love with the cover of this book. It is so beautiful, for me it was a must read.

I finally got to read it this month and I was not dissapointed. The book is well written and the story really gets into you as well as the characters. I must admit I didn´t like Izzy that much at the beginning as she seemed a spoiled brat, but while the story develops she really gets into your heart deeply and one gets to understand why she is that way. She is a very independent, intelligent and

"Maybe the dark is a good place for me to hide,"...
"You speak of dark and death as if they are the worst things that can happen to a person. There's a light in your mind. It can light the way in darkest of darks. And of death? The ghosts speak more humbly than you and I could every envisage. Sometimes one action-one death-can spur a movement, sway the cosmos, and move the stars."

A princess set on a path to continue the legacy of her parents she thinks she knows all about. Secrets uncovered — of magic, darkness, and silence. Learning both the meaning and the cost of love. Change. War. Revenge.

This book is a wonder. If you’re one of those people who can get bored of books because you can see every twist coming, this will be a breathe of fresh air for you, as it was for me! The multitude of themes and aspects made this story so rich, along with an amazing heroine and a co

When i read the summary of this book i thought it sounded interesting, but i had NO IDEA what i was in for!!! What a unique and awesome book!!!!!

I want to be careful not to say too much and spoil it for you, but i also want you to know what an amazing book this is!! The concept of the voiceless was so imaginative. I know the author says in the acknowledgements that she came up with this story from a song, and i want to know what song!! Is there a playlist?

The world she built in this book took

I had the pleasure of reading this story when it was in its infancy. I am sure a lot has changed since 2016, but I know the heart of it still remains. I can credit myself with naming one of the character's (I won't say which). Celia has brought the shifter side of fantasy into the YA world. This debut is going to rock your world. I cannot believe its finally going out in the world!!!!

A Brief Overview:
Isabelle does not want to be married off like a proper princess: she'd much rather be hunting in the woods and visiting the Voiceless. One night she is attacked by men practicing magic, a forbidden art in the New Kingdom. Her Voiceless savior, Fray, has many secrets of his own. Events are much more closely tied together than Isabelle thought, uniting her dead brother, her father's war, and even the Voiceless. Who can she trust, and which side is

DNF after a little more than 100 pages.

This was... uh, kind of incoherent sometimes? Like there would be time skips between chapters with no indication until like halfway through the scene. Or character descriptions would be omitted until several chapters later when I realized I'd been picturing them all wrong. Conversations and dialogue sometimes had absolutely no flow. Like not even talking in circles, but to the point where I was unclear what the conversation was even about.

Thank you to The Parliament House for giving me a chance to read an eARC of Unspoken.

Princess Isabelle, or Izzy, is not your conventional princess. Yes, she has to do her duty by making a promising marriage when she turns eighteen but thing young lady has a mind of her own. She was my favorite character in this book because she is spunky, sassy and lively. Her relationship with her best friend was so fun to see until some events take place to change that. But there was a lot of conflict Izzy had

Well… I feel like this could have been great but it fell short for me. I thought the story was about a strong princess, a common boy and their romance and their fight and lives with and among wolves. I expected a lot of wolves, magic and fantasy; almost like a strong fairytale with wolves. While it has those aspects I felt this story was really about an immature young girl fighting against her parents.

There were some great parts: the world building, the voiceless, the hint of magic, the scary gu

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It had likable characters [for the most part] and a good plot. However, while the author was good at including details that would be great sort of "Ah-Ha" moments [re. Abiyaya not being able to read one of Ashe's hands] there were a couple of moments in the book that were disjointed. For example, there were revelations that felt like they happened more than once, such as when our heroine finds out that her mother knew the truth behind her brother Henry's deat ...more

I'm sorry. I wanted to be thrilled and captivated by this. I really did. But I should have guessed what I was in for by the end of the first chapter.

That chapter was the worst, but there were parts all over this book that read like it hadn't been edited. Isabelle's outfit completely changed colors within a few paragraphs. Sections in italics either randomly switched out of italics like this, or remained italicized for far longer than was probably intended. (And maybe that was a Kindle formatting

Thank you @theparliamentpress for the eARC of ‘Unspoken’ by Celia McMahon! I’m not really sure what I think of this book. It had a really interesting plot and I loved Lulu’s character until the end where she and Izzy have a confrontation. There were some parts of this book that seemed a bit anachronistic to me because it seemed to be set in a medieval time and yet they use nail polish and know what the ‘downward dog’ position is. Izzy was also a bit over dramatic when it came to her brother and ...more

A rich YA fantasy with a spectacular ending!

Princess Isabelle is haunted by the loss of her brother, a soldier in her father's endless war. Though her parents expect obedience, she spends her days trying to help the Voiceless, afflicted refugees from the Old Kingdom, where magic once reportedly held sway. When a strange new faction appears in Stormwall, Isabelle comes under attack--and the only explanation is that the Old Kingdom's magic is not gone at all. She and Fray Castor, a handsome and in
