4 STARS!
"You've always been my safe haven. My shelter."
This was a solid, low angst read, and my second by this author - and I'll definitely read more by her.

I loved the first half of the story that dealt with Cole and Elise's childhood; she's the maid's daughter, he's the boss's son. On the surface, Cole is just an older, smug, rich jerk who enjoys making Elise feel small, but there was so much more to it all.

Cole's struggles were so heart-wrenching and had me devouring the pages, especia

Elise their savior

What an amazing story. I balled a few times. Make sure you have a whole lot of tissues available. I loved flora and the things she cooked. I loved Cole even when he was a terd and Elise had onions in her socks. I loved how carding Cole was with Avia and there Mon and I loved how he realized his mistakes.

Why must there always be a jerk in these romance books. Ugh the first half of the book kept me but the second one I gave up. And epilogues 4 months after are the worse. Another one

Well-crafted, slow-burn second chance love story

This was a random selection and my first experience with this author and one of those rare times when an impulse - read paid off.
How have I not run across this writer before? So pleased that I did. She writes beautifully. Dual POV is never going to be my favourite, but Ms. Fournet handles it skillfully. Elise and Cole's voices are very easy to tell apart and Cole's POV isn't feminised.
The characters, both primary and secondary, the setting and the

If you look at my Goodreads account, you’ll see that I highlighted a few phrases from Shelter. I had a feeling that this was going to be one of those stories that grab a hold of your heart from the very beginning! It seriously had me in KNOTS the whole way through! I was captivated by the characters as well as the story-line! Yes, the story-line was heart breaking, but Cole was everything. At such a young age, he had so much on his shoulders and he really was the best brother and son to Ava and ...more

Am I seriously the first review for this book? I have feelings about that.

Blugh, it's midnight and I read the whole thing in one day. And I'm weepy. Also I'm full of a few glasses of white wine.

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Ms. Fournet's. Seriously read her books. They are so good. She is stupidly and as I've said in the past criminally underrated. The fact that I'm the first person to review the book on Goodreads makes me feel privileged, but also a little mad she isn't getting her due y

Stephanie Fournet is THE best author I have read this year! "Shelter" was a fantastic read! I knew when release day was announced I was going to need a whole reading day because I have read "Leave A Mark", "You First" and "Drive". Every single one of these books was un-put-downable. "Shelter" dealt with a tough topic and the way Stephanie writes you can feel love, hate, anger, loss, hope, redemption....everything..... but most of all love. There are many excellent authors to choose from but I ha ...more

Shelter by Stephanie Fournet is easily one of the best books I have read this year. I haven’t read nearly enough in the last few years, and clearly I have missed out on this author’s books. I was captivated from the start. It is not often that I say “wow” to myself within the first paragraph, but I was blown away by her storytelling and her beautiful prose within the first few sentences.

Her descriptions are so clear it’s like a movie playing out in front of me. I could see and feel every emotion

This book was heart wrenching, and beautifully written. It hit some hard subjects, but the author dealt with them so easily. I couldn't help but love all the characters.

I loved Cole, he is protective, sweet and hard headed. There isn't anything he wouldn't do for those he loves. Even give up his happiness.

I loved Elise, she is sweet, sassy and truthful. She don't let anyone walk over her, and she enjoys her work. She stands up for what she believes in.

I really enjoyed this book, and I highly rec

Fantastic read! Love the detail and complexity

Absolutely fantastic! It is a very long book, but I was so hooked that I read it in 24 hours. T has a well thought out complex plot and characters. It twists and turns as you learn more about the characters and their history. I also learned so much about fair trade and jewelry making. Very well researched and explained. I can't wait until Ms. Fournet's next book! I also hope she gives us more glimpses of her characters from previous books- I would LO

This book was amazing. So well written. Could not put it down, which is how it is with all of Mrs Fournets books. I'm so glad that my good friend stumbled across your books while on a trip to South Louisiana. We anxiously wait for new releases. Ms Fournet, you are awesome!

So good! I’ve read everything Fournet has written and I’m never disappointed. Thankfully I just learned she’s finished her next novel, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

I’ve been longing for a book like this recently!

Books like this one, with all the heart and emotion and angst that sinks deep into your bones, are the reason I fell in love with romance novels!

My heart was instantly absorbed into this beautiful story of second chances!

Amazon bestselling romance author Stephanie Fournet has eight novels and one novella to her name. She lives in Lafayette, Louisiana—not far from the Saint Streets where her books are set. She shares her home with her husband John and their needy dogs Gladys and Mabel, and sometimes their daughter Hannah even comes home from college to visit them. When she isn’t writing romance novels, Stephanie is ...more
