1861 South Carolina and Washington DC. Orphan Ridley Jones joins Thaddeus Lowe in his quest to convince President Lincoln to use hot air balloons to spy on the Confederates. In order to do they, they must make the dangerous journey through Confederate territory. Then, they must convince Lincoln and his generals that Thaddeus' idea will work.

An interesting story based on historical events (the character of Ridley Jones is fiction).
