god, Musso always does this to me.
Every single time, you start reading one of his books and you're like "yeah, not bad" and them bAM, there, here is 7 plot twists in a row for you, enjoy.

"Le mâle blanc dominant, version gros beauf, qui n'avait pas compris que son monde avait déjà sombré." mh yes, this is the kind of tea i ordered, thanks.

I was expecting more from this, especially as it would appear to be such a big hit in France. I expected something more ‘noir’ in the Gallic tradition but found it a tad pedestrian. The writing especially - too much name dropping of designer labels, artists, musicians, authors, too little real life and too few engaging characters - and a clunkiness to it that made me cringe at times. Beyond her mesmerising self-possession and physical grace, I couldn’t see the attraction Vinca had for practicall ...more

This book was ok; it didn't impress me as much as expected. It was a slow pace compared to other thrillers I've recently read. Maybe something was lost in the translation. I never really figured out all the characters' obsessions with this Vinca Rockwell because she wasn't really described well. And there is a pretty big error in the beginning (p.58) that misleads the reader. Unless it was supposed to be the narrator remembering wrongly, I don't know why Vinca says "He forced me." What did I lik ...more

A classical Guillaume Musso thriller, with twists and turns one does not.expect exactly when you think you figured it all out.I missed a bit the atmosphere of his other novels,it is a je ne sais quoi that makes me think more of Paris and its vibes, but maybe that is just me

It's absolutely amazing how many plot twists you can read in this book!
I absolutely loved the storyline.
And the fact that I red the book in one day, well, I think that says all!
I'm not quite a fan of thriller but Musso's books I absolutely adore!
Another great book!

Set on a dual timeline the story is told between past and present as it follows Thomas, a successful author, as he returns to France to attend a school reunion. A return to his past and a return to that one night that changed the lives of Thomas and his best friend Maxime's lives for good. And now the secrets of that night are about to come to light and change their lives once again.

Thomas was in love with Vinca, everyone is in love with Vinca but Thomas's love isn't reciprocated and campus rumo

(I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review).
When I started reading this book, it felt a bit off to be reading a slightly noir-ish style set in modern times. Even the visits to the past were only in the 1990s! And then, the murderers are revealed, right near the start...what is going on?!

Actual events and people's perceptions of those events make for convoluted histories in the best of circumstances. Add misdirected longing, high school dramatics, guilt, jealousy, poor communicat

Vinca is unwell and is visited by her friend Thomas. We are in 1992 and they are both at school. His discovers that not only is she pregnant but has been raped- and who by. Thomas seeks out the culprit and with a little help the perpetrator is accidentally dead. The school gymnasium is being built and so it appears that the perfect hiding place for the body is amongst the foundations. Soon afterwards Vinca disappears without a trace. The Reunion is an Advanced Reading Copy that I got in the mail. I enjoyed reading it, but there are a lot of characters in the book to keep track of. The Author does a good job describing everyone to help with this. A well written mystery!-Janell

The Reunion~ The book starts out in 2017 and goes back and forth between 2017 and 1992. A Reunion is happening and it is also a dedication of a new expansion at the exclusive school that these now adults attended in their youth. The gym is about to be de

I was lucky to win an ARC from Little Brown and Company. This book is to be released in July 2019.
To be honest when I first picked up and started reading this novel, I thought it may not be for me since a lot of the names were a bit foreign to me as well as the places. However, I am here to tell you to keep on reading if that is going to detour you.
This story goes back and forth between two time lines. Winter of 1992, and Spring of 2017. On a cold wintery December night in 1992 Vinca and her ph

To be honest, I found this something of a disappointment. Set in 2017, with flashbacks to 1992, the story concerns four friends, who haven’t spoken for twenty five years - Thomas, Maxime, Fanny and the attractive, alluring Vinca.

In 2017 there is a reunion at the school the friends attended. Thomas, now living in the States, receives an email from Maxime and finds himself revisiting both his old haunts, and his past. For the reunion is fraught with danger, as hidden secrets could be revealed. Ba

THE REUNION, by bestselling French author Guillaume Musso, is astonishingly complex and riveting, a one-day read for me. On one level, it is a compelling clear-eyed examination of life at age 44, and whether success and life goals have been achieved; whether one has lived up to one's expectations and those of others. On another level, it is a finely-tuned and very complicated mystery from "out of the past," and I was engrossed from the beginning as over and over our protagonist - narrator, novel ...more

As usual, this is a big page-turner, Musso is strong to make us want to go to the end of the book. This psychological thriller is full of extreme tension all along and the novel reads very well, perhaps to advise those wh

I was able to get my hands on an ARC of this one and I wanted to read and review it before July when it is due to come out. This is a very entertaining, easy to follow story involving a private school, murder, an scandalous love affair and lies upon lies. Reading it reminded me greatly of Donna Tartt's A Secret History and Michele Campbell's She Was the Quiet One. there were a couple twists that I didn't see coming and ended in a very satisfyingly way. I won this book on Goodreads Giveaways! WOW! This book is about the reunion of three friends and their secrets and mysteries. Did Vinca run away with a Professor or was she murdered? The description of the scenery is wonderful. There are other people who are killed and a lot of surprises in the story. Thomas always yearned for Vinca, but was she different than he thought? Find out when this book comes out in July, 2019.

I'm not a mystery reader but I enjoyed this book about two students murdered years earlier, the bodies walled up in the school gym. The main character, Thomas, was in love with Vinca, one of the victims. The gym is soon to be demolished and the bodies will be found. That sets the stage for the story and I won't tell you the rest. The book had surprising twists and was worth the read. I recommend it.

At first, I was reluctant to read it.
I had assimilated Guillaume Musso with Marc Levy and Chattam (writers I really don't like), but even though the style is a bit heavy on the edge, the frame is nicely set, the characters are vivid enough, the twits are enjoyable.

It's a good thriller for the summer.

I loved this book! While I was able to pick up on a few of the main surprises, there were so many twists and turns that it kept me in suspense the entire time. The descriptions of the characters and setting were vivid and the plot was enthralling. I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this as a quick, entertaining summer read!

I liked this book. It keeps you on edge the whole time. Every time you think you're finding out the truth, a twist happens. I enjoyed the fact that you get enough bit of info to try to make up your own theory, but not enough to find it out completely.

To me it felt like I've read this story hundreds of times, just different names and places. The second half of the book was entertaining and I was so enthralled with it that I couldn't put it down.

Loved it. Didn't expect that twist. A good reflection on what parents will do for their children, how books help us in life and the influence of teachers on their students. And you can almost imagine the the warm air of the South of France caressing you skin.

I wonder if this lost something in translation,as everyone else seems to love it.
I found it a bit of a chore to read, and to be honest almost gave up at 85% of the book.
Pushed through, but don't feel I gained anything by doing so.

One of the most popular authors in France today. From his early childhood with reading books and plays, Guillaume Musso became convinced that one day, he too would write novels. After finishing high school in France, Guillaume Musso left for the United States at the age of 19. He spent several months in New York City, living with other young foreigners and earning his money by selling ice-cream. H ...more
