This novel was a wild ride through dangerous territory. Starting with a prison break from a prison in the remote woods of Northern California, Bain lured me into thinking this would be a crime thriller complete with back-stabbing, tough talking cons and betrayals, then sucker-punched me by shifting into a horror novel as the main character is attacked by a werewolf during the escape, and survives only to find the curse has been passed on to him.

The twist caught me off guard and kept me reading

This was a fun, nasty werewolf book set in the low-life world of scheming criminals, drug cartels, and shady lawyers. The pace rips along from the get-go as a group of hardened criminals break out of prison and run afoul of a lonely man in the woods hiding a terrible secret. Don't want to give any more away than that, but I will say that this is a high-octane supernatural crime novel with more twists than a braided rope.
