I was offered this e-ARC by M.J. Marinescu in exchange of an honest review.

At the time of receiving this book, I was reading something else, but I couldn't help but be excited to read this. The concept of the story isn't like anything I have read before and it immediatly stood out for me. And I can tell, the book lived up to my excitement and then more.

The book takes place in Avalon, part of a world where humans live under

This was a great book. I especially like the timeframe it was meant for. You can feel the anxiety/ uncertainty of the characters in the book about the suspicious things that are going on sometimes unnoticed. Imagine having to look at your neighbor, family, spouse to see if they are different. Without too much of a spoiler, enter in Melissa she is an escapee from a facility just to be put in another “facility” so to speak or that is the way she feels at the start. The character then goes through ...more

This book was a very quick read and had very interesting characters. Very vivid in your mind so you feel like you are there. It is set in a different time with hives and people being hunted down. Melissa has to watch her back. Can’t wait for the second book!!

This was a really good book. The story is great and I loved the characters. The idea of humans “awakening” to magic is a good one I thought. The story had good twists and surprises, especially the end. I do want to read the second installment so I hope the author keeps going.

This is definitely a weird review to write…

It is worth noting I didn’t finish this book, I ended up stopping at 25%, but I think its worth saying why.

The opening prologue for this book I loved! I read it and was excited to read more; the characters voice and setting were interesting.

I wanted to know more. (You can read the section I’m talking about here)

However the next many chapters are from someone else’s

Stunning! I wish I was Rhune!
The story itself is original and well composed. Easy to read. Didn't put it down for the second half.

It takes a lot to pull me into a dystopian future science fiction book, as they have never been a favorite genre. Marinescu had me hooked from the prologue! The voice of each character is strong and unique and he quickly bonds readers to the characters. Marinescu has a smooth style that keeps the reader engaged and builds the story like an architect. Forsaken Genesis has opened the door for the series and I cannot wait to see more from this new author!
