Juice Box: The Book of Shaun
Shaun Sheppard is equal parts hood-grown homeboy and corporate success. He dominates boardrooms by day and tears up the club by night, searching for the finest and juiciest women he can find. He’s locally famous for both his marketing tactics and his sexual escapades. Having coined the phrase juice box to describe the female anatomy, he considers himself to be a connoisseur of juice boxes far and wide. He has no intentions of slowing down his corporate climb or taming his sex drive.
Until he sees Essence.
From the moment Shaun lays eyes on Essence, he can’t get her off his mind. She dominates his dreams, invades his thoughts at work, and all other women pale in comparison to her. He gets hooked on her juice box before he ever speaks to her.
When he’s presented with a truly golden opportunity, Shaun thinks this is his time to shine and gets on his grind. But he’s soon met with twists and turns that he couldn’t even begin to fathom. His seemingly unquenchable thirst for the juice box comes back to haunt him and puts a strain on his budding love affair with Essence.
In the end, Shaun must decide if he’s going to get the juice box, or if the juice box is going to get him.

This book was everything beyond a page turner! I've heard of books that make the characters come to life, but that and drawing you into the emotions, to where your inner most private is jumping, your ocean is streaming, and your ready to call your chocolate dip up....this book was an amzing read!

Daneal Brown’s debut novel is full of intrigue and lots of steamy sex. Essence and Shaun’s story is far from over. I can't wait for part 2.

This wasn’t for me but I think it could be for you if...
This is a really hard one for me to rate. Ideally I would write this review without putting in any stars because I don’t think I can be fair to it given that it’s not at all my jam and so I personally didn’t like it, but I also know people who would find this to be a 5-star book because it’s more in line with their taste and what they like to read. I don’t read a lot of erotica that isn’t more on the romance end of the spectrum with the focus on one couple one relationship group. This book has lots of stories about the hero’s past f-boy behaviour prior to meeting the heroine in such detail that and this is definitely more erotica than it is romance, and the hero’s sexcapades and professional achievements definitely play a bigger role than romantic plot development- at least till the very end. Because I’m a human emotions kind of reader, for me to consider this a romance, I was looking for more of an emotional connection that was unique between Shaun and Essence because he had equally strong connections with Cherry and with Brooke and Kelli and even the makeup artist lady. I don’t really think that we ever really got to know Essence and what she was about the way we would have in a romance novel. So things like these are why I would say this novel is definitely erotica and not really romance even though there is somewhat of a romantic suspense cliffhanger at the end.
This book is urban romance with a capital “U!” It’s a little on the ratchet side with detailed stories of beaucoup wild hook ups with random girls who aren’t the heroine. The hero, Shaun, has lots of female friends and he’s stepped with her pretty much all of them in the most “freak gotten on” of ways. The hero is a pretty slick and ambitious professional has his fingers in all sorts of pots. There’s a cast of friends that are equally freaky and have THEIR fingers in drug dealing, stripping, prostitution etc. Even though the hero is at least upper middle class, this has strong hood love vibes even though it isn’t set in the hood. In general, there is a lot of very messy behaviour from the characters in the form of heavy drinking (sometimes followed by driving) and lots of random unprotected hook ups. I think if you like hood variety urban romance and wish it was more erotica and there was more sex in the writing, then you’ll probably like this.
One thing I found really interesting was reading this male-written erotica. It’s not something I’ve ever read before and I enjoyed seeing the difference between how men and women write fantasies and write about love. It was interesting that a female writer would say the hero is “tall, muscular, built” etc and how every potential mate is about body physique and I think nothing of it as a romance reader. But turnabout is fair play because I kept getting startled when the author described every woman by her boobs and butt size. I think one thing that could have been stronger especially given where the cliffhanger stopped, would have been to have a bit more relationship building between Shaun and Essence, who lives in Shaun’s fantasies for large portions of the book just like all the other women until she comes to prominence near the end.

Awaiting part II!
For a debut novel this was a solid read. There was a ton of moving parts but the storyline was pretty consistent throughout the book. Shauns’ main focus was having Essence as his own and building a brand.. Shaun was the ultimate ladies man until he met Essence, like he was wilddd and into some kinky stuff. Lol. One thing I would have liked to see was more of would be insight into Essence’s life. She seemed too good to be true until the ending happened. So now I have all kinds of questions that will hopefully be answered in book two. One thing I liked about Shaun was that he seemed very loyal and giving. I hope that whatever is going on with Essence doesn’t deter him from being his true self. The author has a wild imagination, there was a few times where I was like is this real? But in fact it was just a dream and I thought that was a really cool aspect to the book. My only real critique is there was a lot of backstories on women that Shaun had been with previously and that kind of messed up the flow. But overall, I think the author did a good job with the storyline. I didn’t notice a lot of errors and from the beginning the book captures the readers attention. Good work!

Not a bad debut novel
Wow that ending was a shocker is an understatement 😯😯. The book started out a little too slow for my liking however it picked along the way. Shaun was no saint. He always into being with multiple women with no thoughts of settling down until the night he met Essence. He was open to seeing where things went with her. She gave in after hanging out a couple times. Essence seemed like a cool person tho it would have been great to have a little more back story on her.. I loved the parts were it got steamy and felt real only for it to be a dream... The personalities of the supporting characters were hilarious as hell. Shaun's concept and creation of the Juice Box was Brilliant. His friends were really supportive and ready to play their part in bringing everything to life. Trouble came when he least expected and Essence might be the in danger. Im really hopefully for a BOOK 2 soon.

Let’s just say that this book was an amazing read. At the beginning I was like damn Shaun who haven’t you slept with and how will all your past conquest affect you pining after Essence. I loved that Shaun was so amazing at his job and that he had good personal and business relationships with his friends as well as some of the women from his past. I really wanted to know more about Essence background. She was cool and her and Shaun relationship took off like a speeding bullet that was burning off the pages hott and steamy. Whew Chile!!! That ending though left me like... Huh? What happened? So many unanswered questions that I need hopefully will be resolved in book two. An amazing read and my first time reading this authors work which was amazing.

This was the story of Shaun who saw a woman out one night and he couldn't get her out of his mind. He would have dreams of her as if she was there, but it was always a dream. Shaun sleep with a lot of woman and it seems they all ran in the same circle. Shaun and Essence finally met and they hit it off, but it seems Essence was hiding something and it was discovered she wasn't who she said she was. This was a good story, I just felt like it was dragged out a little to much. I feel the flash backs with the many women were to long. I did like the story and will read the second one when it comes out!!!

Sensual and Mind Blowing
Daneal Brown captures your attention and keeps a hold of it as Shaun and Essence fall in love. The tales of Shaun's sexcapades are too hot to handle. This book is a must read!
