All too often we wander through life without appreciating the gift of every moment we’ve been given. The result? An unsatisfying life, missed opportunities to experience the joy of being in sync with God, and days marked with apathy instead of passion. Our time on earth is measured. We should want to make every moment count―not only because we aren’t guaranteed the next one, but also because this is exactly how our Savior spent His time here.

How, then, do we walk out unwavering joy-filled faith every day, determined to let go of the things that keep us from experiencing abundant life and fulfilling the plans God has for us? The answers are found in following the footsteps of the One who lived fully, because He was determined that we might do the same.

In this six-week study of Luke, we will follow the life and ministry of Jesus as we consider the choices He made on His way to the cross. We’ll intimately connect with a Savior who remained laser-focused on His mission to love the world. In return, we’ll receive a model for intentional living that we can replicate to ensure we are living each day to the fullest and making a difference for God’s kingdom. And together we’ll determine to embrace the abundant life we are promised in Jesus.

The participant workbook includes five days of lessons for each week, combining study of Scripture with personal reflection, application, and prayer.

About the author

Heather M. Dixon is an author, speaker, Bible teacher, women's ministry coach and founder of The Rescued Letters Collective. Diagnosed with an incurable and terminal genetic disorder that she inherited from her mother, she is passionate about helping women find hope for their hard story by making the Bible available, relatable, and understandable. Heather serves as the Women’s Ministry Director for her church in Raleigh and when she is not writing Bible studies or speaking at women’s conferences and events, she loves to make the most of everyday moments such as cooking for her husband and son, checking out way too many library books, or unashamedly indulging in her love for all things Disney. Heather is the author of four Bible studies including Determined: Living Like Jesus in Every Moment and Renewed: Finding Hope When You Don’t Like Your Story.

I have not yet finished it completely, but I am so in love with this devotional! I love the set up and how in-depth the study gets. I highly recommend this study for anyone wanting to deepen their relationship with the Father. More importantly, this study is for anyone wanting to live intentionally and live the life our Father intended for you personally.

It’s been a while since I did an in-depth Bible study, and Determined has greatly impressed me. I was privileged to meet Heather M. Dixon in person at She Speaks 2018. Her heart for women is just as beautiful as Heather’s face is in person.

Heather writes with a warm voice, inviting women to take time to study Jesus’ life with intention. She leads you through the book of Luke with new insights and helpful life applications. I’m highly familiar with the Bible, yet I’ve learned brand-new truths with Heather’s help.

This study is easy to do in short bites, yet packed with meaty teachings. I am finding fresh inspiration for my faith through her application questions. I can’t wait to watch the videos that go along with this wonderful study. It’s an in-depth look of how Jesus was determined to fulfill his Father’s mission, and how we can also be determined in our spiritual walks.

When I heard about this book I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt I needed it. So much of my life has been living from one circumstance or situation to the next, barely getting anything done because I've let what is happening around me dictate what I am able to do before all the things, in the middle of all the things, and after all the things. But the reality is God's Word teaches us to number our days and I've done more to squander my time with excuses. Heather's study on living as Jesus did, Determined, is challenging me and my perceptions in the best ways. Not to push me to strive, but to live as He did with great intention and purpose.

Heather has a way of drawing you into the word of God and bringing to life the stories and practical teachings of Jesus as they apply to life today. She challenges us to live like Jesus and I so appreciated her honesty and the loving way in which she encourages each of us to look more closely at the life of Jesus, learn from him and then apply the truths he was teaching to our lives today.

This was one of my most favorite Bible studies. I did this with a woman's group online and came at the perfect time in my life. The author really helps you to look at the scriptures to see more in-depth on how we can choose to live a life "determined" and intentional to make the most out of it and live it abundantly as a witness to others to help build up the kingdom of God.

This is one of my favorite devotionals to-date. It is saturated in scripture references and points the reader to Jesus, which is one reason it is so great. I found it enjoyable and Heather's voice to be engaging. This is a great one for women who are seeking to fall more in love with Jesus.

Determined Living Like Jesus by Heather Dixon. Review of workbook: This is a very detailed bible study of Luke. Even when I try to just hit the high spots, it takes at least an hour per lesson. I have done this with a group and it's taken on average 2 weeks to do 1 week of lessons with discussion and review. There is so much background and reference to other bible chapters it's tedious and repetitive. After 12 weeks, we've just gotten to Chapter 6 which is about the last days of Jesus' life which coincidentally is now just a few weeks before Easter. I believe this study is truly meaningful, but Ms. Dixon's workbook is overly drawn out and looses focus. I would not recommend using the workbook.

I could NOT get enough of this Bible study. I wish it never ended. To a fault of mine, I am most invested in Bible study when I have someone or something to follow along with. Heather did an amazing job at taking me in depth in the Bible and helping me see who Jesus was for myself. It was beautifully written and gave me such great insight and motivation to return my Bible notes again and again. There was not a single part of this book that wasn't covered in my hand writing.
