Standing here in front of you today, sharing my story; this wasn’t supposed to be my reality. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t ask myself; what can I have done different? Was there anything that I could have done to prevent this heartache; to prevent this tragedy? To wake up and feel whole again; and regardless of every possible scenario I came up with, there was always a way around it.” Yvonne said as she wiped tears from her eyes and composed herself. “I shouldn’t be standing before you today. I shouldn’t feel this pain; but because this is now my reality, I’m sharing my story with you.” She’s only 15.

This was a different type of read from this author. Yvonne's love for her daughter, Sophia never wavered as she tried her best to protect her. This was a sad story that unfortunately could happen.
Quick story, with a sad ending. I wish she never met Miguel because she wouldn’t have been in the predicament she was in. Also, I would love to read a stand-alone about Miguel, seems to be an interesting back story to him.
Sophia was a good girl but fell in the wrong hands that took her to advantage of her. She like most girls when you don’t get attention from your parents fell for any man. She was so real
Every teenager and Mother should read this book. This book grabbed me at the onset and didn’t let go until I looked up and was on the very last page. The story really pulled at my heartstrings and I found myself tearing up. What a shame for a young girl to end up down a road such as this. Very informative for anyone raising a teenage daughter. The only thing that I can say is that this book hit home and although it went the way the author wanted it to go it was definitely based on real life instances. This book is a 5 star read indeed but I took off a star due to the bad editing . I will definitely recommend this book 📚
This book had me on the edge of my seat. Sophia was young and naïve. There’s no other love than a Mother’s love. Yvonne never gave up on her child. The book’s ending is certainly s twist. I can’t talk about it because you won’t read the book. It was so real that I know that parents need to communicate with their children. Just read the book.
Was raw and gritty. All teenager's should read this book. This is a very brilliant author. I haven't read a book by him yet, that I didn't like. I highly recommend this book to everyone who reads. Don't sleep on this talented aithor. Check him out.
A Love So Gut Wrenching, No Parent Should Ever Experience It!
Shameek Speight's She's Only 15 Part One is a quick read that focuses on a young, underage, girl who is angry with her mother for not spending enough time with her due to working too much. As a result, the girl becomes the victim of a child preditor, who manipulates her into believing he loves her and intends to marry her. As a way to punish her mom for a fight, the girl runs away to stay with her boyfriend until her mom finds her and the police are able to arrest him. When the mother takes the girl back home, she let's the girl know her boyfriend is twenty-two instead of eighteen as she was led to believe, and his wife and son were visiting family in Puerto Rico, and would be returning soon. Not long after the boyfriend gets out of jail, he arrives at the girl's house, shoots her in the head and chest, and shoots her mother in the neck. The girl dies three days later in the hospital, never coming off the ventilator, but the mom opens up a shelter in her honor. The boyfriend was sentenced to death by lethal injection, and his family, possibly his brothers, arrive at the shelter, shooting the mother once again.
Mr. Speight brings to live the pain and sorrow felt by a parent or family member who lost a loved one to not only gang violence but domestic abuse as well. The anguish is practically tangible, and the despair such the reader can almost taste it.
She's Only 15 brings so many feelings to the forefront, the readers have to take a step back and try to reevaluate what they have read to make sure they have properly assimilated everything they have read, and not just let everything in one ear and out the other.
She’s Only 15 is a book unlike any readers have found before. It is a 100% Urban, part thriller, part horror, and part romance, story, but the parts are so mixed together it's like a huge melting poole of ingredients.
she’s only 15 is heartbreaking in the quiet, heavy way that lingers long after you’ve finished reading. although this is a work of fiction, it very clearly represents someone’s real-life experience, and that reality is what makes the story hit so hard. it doesn’t feel imagined — it feels lived. this book forces you to sit with grief, regret, and the painful “what ifs” that follow tragedy. the emotional weight is undeniable, and the author does not shy away from showing how one moment, one missed conversation, can alter lives forever. it’s uncomfortable at times, but that discomfort feels intentional and necessary. one of the most important takeaways for me was how strongly this story highlights the need for open communication with our children — especially when it comes to cellphone use and online safety. the digital world gives kids access to far more than we often realize, and without honest conversations, guidance, and boundaries, the consequences can be devastating. this book serves as a reminder that protection isn’t just physical — it’s emotional, digital, and ongoing. overall, this was a difficult but impactful read. it’s not something you breeze through for entertainment; it’s something you sit with, reflect on, and carry forward. i’m rating it a 4/5 for its emotional honesty and the important conversations it encourages.
This book had some of everything in it, domestic violence, Catfishing, murder.... You name it. I liked the fact that the storyline was realistic to today's society, what happened in this book can and unfortunately probably has happened in reality. I have 3 daughters and it reminded about the cautions of social media. What I didn't like was how it ended. Be prepared to ball your eyes out because I definitely did. I saw that there's a part 2, I can't even begin to phantom how that's possible with the ending of part one. Overall, lessons upon lessons are learned from this story.
This was an all-too-real glimpse of how easily children can be sucked in to the twisted web of online predators, sometimes, regardless of the household dynamic.
Sophia was your typical teenager, who excelled in school while her mother worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable life, as a result of her father's absence. Because of dad's absence from Sophia's life, she went looking for the love that she wasn't receiving and, for which, she paid the ultimate price.
From beginning to end, the story is engaging, although there were quite a bit of (simple) grammatical errors that, sometimes, made following the story a bit challenging.
Wow!!! This is such a powerful, well written book. More young girls need to read this as a cautionary tale. You never know who you're really meeting through the computer screen and parents have to stay vigilant at all times to keep their children safe from all kinds of threats. It's scary to think of the world we're living in where it's easier to hide one's true identity while creating a new one for social network. I'm looking forward to reading where the next installation will take me. Great job as always Shameek Speight!!!!
I enjoyed reading this book and as a young girl I could remember this happening to me. This book is for all people to read young and old to understand the concept of how evil people can come into your lives and ride everything for you. I didn't agree with the 21 year old male because he took a life of a young teenager for us own happiness and ended her life and a year later her mother life for the wrongdoing and choices he made. It was very sad because her daddy never was in her life and she look for love in all the wrong places.
Pretty good book. Fast paced and a page Turner. I appreciate the concept and the story line is all to familiar for a lot of young women today. I enjoyed this read as it was my first time reading a novel by Speight. I see that there's a part two and will read that one as well. Quite a bit of grammatical errors. And some parts were a bit difficult to comprehend. Overall, I enjoyed. :)
First and foremost I want to say that this book is eye opening, for mothers... for young ladies everywhere.... there are sick individuals out here praying on our innocent children and they break them.. brain wash them and strip them out of our protection, they disguise themselves as something that they will never be... the devil also was an angel once. Great read. Great message. I just feel bad that it had to end in the way it did.
I felt every emotion in this book from the love of a parent to a first time teenage love. I still have tears flowing down my face. I feel Sophia's pain as well as Yvonne's pain. This book was well written and full of the most realistic characters in a book I've ever read.
I am not a huge fan of these broken stories that come in all these parts but I did enjoy this. Of course you have to get the next book to know what’s gonna happen next. I honestly prefer to pay $15 for an entire story but what can I do?
On to the next book and then I can give a better review.
This book is for any young lady that think falling in love with a older man is that life!!! This young lady had her whole life in front of her and she lost it because of some heartless man. This was the first time reading a book by this author but I salute you for this story!!! Highly recommend this book for all readers!!!!
Young Ladies falling in LOVE with an older gentleman isn't ALWAYS the Life !!! A heartless narcissistic MAN/person can be the reason you lose it ALL/EVERYTHING !! I haven't read anything by Shameek Speight before and I plan to read more. I'm looking forward to completing this series.
I highly recommend this series for all readers !!!
This one wasn't as scary as he usually is, it's more down to earth. It is very dangerous, in this time to hook up on the internet. Sophia and her mother suffered for her hookup.
This book was great! From the time I started it I never put it down. I even had to turn my tv off. It's always hard to lose a child. Especially when their supposed to bury parents. I about to open book two I can't wait.I can't imagine how this will go.
A Great Read!!!!...But then again, Shameek Speight NEVER DISAPPOINTS!!!!!...I sooo can't Wait for her New Book, Black Ice's Daughter Part 2...If U haven't Read the first one, go and Do it now!!!...💗😊💗
I bought this book because of the reviews that said it was not the typical writings. As usual this author didn't disappoint. I really enjoyed this story. Everyone who has a single mom friend who works a lot should have her read this. I really enjoyed this book.
