As a Finnophile and lover of Nordic Noir, obviously I had to read this book, which is about a young Swedish woman looking into the past of her Finnish mother, and finding plenty of dark skeletons in the closet.

"The Daughter" is written as a series of diary entries by Emilia, the main character, alternating with third-person flashbacks from the perspective of Emilia's mother and her friends and relatives. The intercutting of points of view allows for multiple perspectives and heightens the tensio

Thanks to Sara to providing me with a review copy!

The Daughter (Vad hände i Tulisaari? på svenska) is a thriller about a young woman who hears the last word from her mother over and over again; "I'll tell you what happened in Tulisaari". Those words drives Emilia to go back to Tulisaari and figure out what really happened to her mother to drive fast away from the city and get hit by a bus, but also of her mysterious past.

This book was such a wild ride and I loved that it was so hard to stop rea

The story begins with the death of Emilia Bjorklund’s mother. Emilia’s mother had raised her as a single parent and Emilia has never known her father’s identity.
Emilia sinks into a deep depression after her mother’s accidental death. She attempts to overcome this by looking into her mother’s mysterious past. While doing so, she learns that she has inherited a house in Finland and that her uncle is probably still living there.
Emilia decides to go to Tulisaari in Finland to find out more about h

Nothing is better than a good plot of family secrets and untold mysteries! And, I found just that in the book ‘The Daughter’ by Sara Onnebo where a grief – stricken daughter journeys back to the past for answers she has been searching for always. But, she faces hindrances in her endeavours as there is someone or the other who advices her to go back.

What happened that summer? Who is telling the truth? Who has done it? It is an enthralling read as these questions keeps repeating itself till the e

Such a great thriller story. The author has described all the aspects of the book with ease and all the complications of the protagonist's family are portrayed.

Tha daughter's journey to find out what happened in summer, her relationship with her mother, the obstacles she faced to find out the truth is beautifully crafted.

Surely, recommended to all those who love thriller.
