Survive - a review by Rosemary Kenny

Rhun and the exiles' defence of Free City continues; after many battles and other trials, Jordan and Argo go to meet one of the mysterious 'Founders' - universal alien overlords - at the mysterious silver pyramid in the vast wastelands - from which (he tells the humans), they're conducting the Pandora Experiment using human/other alien species mutants, sequestered in six separate cities, The premise is that each city's inhabitants will arm themselves and fight in turn with every other city, until the survivors triumph and are drafted into the Founders' intergalactic army.

Alliances are made and a resistance force determines to fight for freedom and justice. Before the evil Founders grind them into the dust, the rebels must overcome fearsome monsters, giants, AIs, robot centipedes and the weapons that will seal their doom, if they cannot convert them for their own use.

Sand, Sand, and nothing but sand.

Well things are starting to get really interesting under a hot desert sun. This series is getting really exciting. The new characters are great and the story line doesn't jump all over the place . A very good read for the lovers of sci-fi and fantasy. Will be starting the next book as soon as possible.

This was so exciting. I'm sorry I didn't review the first book, I was so eager to read this one I couldn't wait
I had to finish the first one and read until 1 am. Thankfully I started this one earlier and finished before dark. Must remember to eat dinner now.

Action and thrills about in the second book in this series that is written like a role-playing game. The intrepid heroes keep stumbling into more support while surviving tense situations. The characters are thin veneers of stereotypes from fantasy games. Not much to recommend this series other than the fights.

Things heat up!

Things are getting even more dangerous for this wonderful crew of characters. New ones as well. For such a complex piece of world building it’s easy to dig in deep and feel the sand yourself. Fantastic book in a brilliant series.
