Nate Temple is on the hunt to right a wrong. Mordred – King Arthur's son – has escaped from Hell. And it's all Nate's fault.
Pro-Tip: Don't let escapees rob the dreaded Nine Souls on their way out of Hell's Gates. It makes the escapee just an itsy-bitsy bit stronger.
But what are the Nine Souls? And what does St. Louis...more

But Mordred, in the process of his escape, somehow managed to abduct the Nine Souls, particularly strong magical souls, to go as part of him, so he is not going to be easy to defeat.

I guess that's what I get for putting it down in writing that Silvers is maintaining rather than escalating, he just takes it as a "hold my beer" moment. Or maybe a "come at me, bro".
Nate Temple has been jumping from one hodgepodge mess to another in a desperate struggle to keep up with everything going bump in the night, from crowning himself a King in necessity to juggling the emerging memories of two different lifetimes and the resulting ripples they cause in his powers. Also safe ...more
No spoiler that the Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse rides in this latest installment of the Nate Temple Chronicles...or does he? As we have come to expect, Shane Silvers, wordsmith extraordinaire, takes Nate and his crew on a whiplash inducing roller coaster as Nate must face the consequences of his actions from his previous trip to Hell. He finds out quickly that not showing up at his new job as a tour guide to the fiery inferno is not an option. But Nate has ...more

There was a LOT of action going on here, I loved it! I felt like this book was more of a bridge, setting the way for the next book and its revelations. I would have loved for it to have continued for a little longer, there are so many new questions and mysteries and it feels like we've left a lot of things up in the air from the previous book, then added on more things than we've actually solved, though that's not a negative, it honestly just makes me more eager to read on to find ever ...more
This book was my favorite Nate book so far. The only thing keeping me from having full on dt’s is knowing Callie’s book will come out next month.
So many feels in this book. Lot of laugh out loud moments, A whole lot of action too. I totally adore Nate in this book. His interactions with his friends are always great. Seeing how he is with Alex is heartwarming. I totally treasure his times with Callie. Need more of those times.
Yes, some questions were answered, but man, all the new questions ...more
Another masterpiece by the master himself, Mr. Silvers. This story enchants, pulls at your heartstrings, teases, tickles your funny bone, takes you for a rollercoaster ride, and makes you beg for the next book in the series. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, each book in the series is better than the last. When the master of words (Mr. Silvers) interacts with the master of wit (Nate Temple), the result is an explosion of rollicking good fun. This book can be ...more
This series and both spin off's (Feathers and Fire - Callie's world and Phantom Queen - Quinn's world) are fantastic 'feel good' books, they are exciting, funny and they move f ...more
I stumbled upon the first Nate Temple novel by accident, and have devoured them. The plot lines are interesting and often surprising. The characters are well-developed and wonderfully flawed beings. As Nate grew in power and notoriety in the alternate Earth where he resides, I started to worry that he and the story would become boring, like I have seen with overly powerful rpg characters that you eventually put away and save to stir up new campaigns. I am delighted to report that ...more
Just when you think that you have some sort of handle on Nate Temple, whoa, major plot twist! Nate thinks he has to solve a simple problem out returning Mordred and the nine souls he stole to hell. Not so fast. When has anything ever been simple for Nate Temple? Fortunately, he has plenty of friends and allies in his corner. In fact, that was one of the things that I enjoyed most about this book, watching how all of the people Nate gathered around himself in the earlier ...more
A straight read through, worth not sleeping! Nate finally gets some answers (& a lot more questions). I loved seeing the growth of Alex, and his relationship with Nate. While this is book 10, it's also part of a 3 book arc according to the author, so it wasn't completely surprising how things stand with Mordred. However, I NEVER expected the twist in the last few chapters (nope, not spoiling it).
Waiting until end of year for the next Nate book is going to be torture. At least we ...more
This one is Epic! Through the series we've watched Nate grow from an arrogant, trust fund, pain in the rear, to someone much more mature, even if still a bit arrogant - he kinda has to be when dealing with these monsters, legends, myths, gods and general Evil do'ers!
Some long standing questions are answered and new ones are presented...
Absolutely love the Easter Eggs and Rabbit Holes that Shayne leaves for us through-out the book!

Another masterpiece by Shayne Silvers!! This story keeps you glued to Nate's crazy life from start to finish. Most all his old friends show up as well as a new enemy! This new nasty wants to take over St. Louis and even the world. Nate is between a rock and a hard place and must fight for not only his life, but those of his friends and his city. Great drama, fighting, dying, humor throughout and lots of unsettled problems and issues at the e ...more
I absolutely loved this book. Don't get me wrong I've enjoyed this series a lot, but this was my favorite book in the series by a lot. I guess I've just really liked the idea of the horseman and of Hate becoming a horseman. In fact I wish Shane would branch this series out starting a horseman series like he branches out and started both a Callie Series and Quinn Series. Both of which I also like very much, but I think a horseman series would just be incredible. That being said I'm loo ...more
Mr. Shayne Silvers is a conniving, tricky, wonderful, asshole. The story picks up once more, with flawless synchronization between multiple series and threads to make a tapestry of wonder and fable, the likes of which I haven't encountered before. Read this book, but be warned that you will want to read every other book in all of his series over again to see all of the intricate and seemingly random hints that had been left along the way to where we are now. I love the Templeverse, and everyone in it! Thank the Goddess, Gods, Horsemen, Angels and all the Heroes and Ascended Masters for this series and the amazing, and thankfully, very prolific writers of this universe of book series. Bless Shayne Silvers for giving us another action packed, well written tale that grabs you from the first words and straps you into a roller coaster of fights, humor, and Machiavellian paranormal political maneuvering. Excellent! A MUST REA ...more
