We love these shine-a-light books from Usborne! There are skeletons (x-rays), medical terms and good illustrations to interest older toddlers/younger children.

One continous story would have been less confusing to my eldest. Jumping back and forth didn't work for her age.

Hard for her to stay with it for all the text but LOVED shining the flashlight through the pages. Very disappointed that there wasn't a broken leg in the book.

Alternating color and black and white illustrations and simple text help young readers and listeners learn about what happens in a hospital. The book stays positive and comforting, showing only happy scenes of a new baby, a child's successful surgery, a cast for broken bone, the cafeteria, and the cleaning crew. The book is meant to be used with a flashlight or other bright light to illumine the scenes behind desks, walls, and doors. Students will enjoy using the book; discussion opportunities exist for expanding on this introduction and including painful or sad events that occur in hospitals.

Miss 4 really enjoys shining a torch through the pages. It's just a shame that the book feels quite disjointed; there isn't really a narrative flow to it.
Miss 4 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

This book is an interactive book, that uses a flashlight to see through the page to discover what is behind it. It also give good information about things that go on inside a hospital and why a patient might need to go there.

Excellent book detailing what goes on inside a hospital. My 5-year-old loved finding out what was happening behind the scenes.
