Girl Lost wasn't quite what I expected after reading the blurb, and what I found was a little out of the norm for me. It is a romance, but more than that, it's a story about breaking through the darkness that life throws at us and finding a reason to go on. It does seem a little over the top at times with so much happening to Callie. It feels like she can't catch a break, and some of the subject matter is pretty heavy. It's also absolutely heartbreaking at times, but what impressed me is how the

Warning, don't read this on public transport like I did...who was cutting up onions?
I think this author attempted to break my heart.
Could Callie have a tougher life, OMG she was a strong girl overcoming all this angst. Danny was a wonderful character, a guy that stood by her no matter what.
You will read this and both love and hate the author. Thank you Candace for this emotional roller coaster of a story, I thoroughly enjoyed it. ...more

Girl Lost by Candace Dowds is one heavy hitter of a story, full of emotions good and bad. Written in a very tasteful way is the highs and lows of Callie's life and the two guys in her life who would do anything to keep her around. Her brother, Casey, and her love, Danny, were both amazing and truly supportive, going above and beyond for the girl who deserves nothing but happiness after the constant struggles of many traumatic events piled on to ...more

I really liked the story but found that it jumped around too much, maybe because it wasn't that long of a novel. I felt the author tried to put too much into it.
When I first started reading it I thought it was going to revolve around Callie's past abuse and her addiction to drugs and alcohol. I know it's a romance and the love Danny and Callie have for each other is intense and they refer to each other as soulmates which I find a beautiful sentiment. I loved how Danny was always there for her a ...more

This is so much more than a romance, this is about really tough times and being the lowest you can go. Then being able to break through that darkness and find a reason to go on. For Callie, it's tough and doesn't think she deserves to be loved, happy, cared for or have people around her. It's absolute heartbreak in stages that you want to reach in and hug Callie, but she still sees the hope through Danny and Casey's determination to support her. It is an emotional read, well worth reading and a

Candace began writing after the passing of her son in 2009. It has been an emotional release for her. She is supported by her family and friends. Other than the time she is writing, she sits back for hours reading books by her favorite authors, Tijan Meyer, Rachel Vincent, Richelle Mead, Colleen Hoover, Claudia Gray and so many more. That or she will go for a calming drive while listening to Emine
