I knew I needed this as soon as I read the blurb. So when the opportunity to get an ARC came up I took it. And I'm glad I did

Coincidentally I was watching Jurassic World after finishing this ARC and this quote just summed up a lot of this book

"You made a genetic hybrid. Raised it in captivity. She is seeing all of this for the first time. She does not even know what she is. She will kill everything that moves. She is learning where she fits on the food chain and I'm not sure you want her to fig
So freaking good! I ate this book up and can't wait to dive into the second one!

A Court of Blood and Void was, again, really good. I loved it so much. The characters and the mystery were keeping this such a page turner. In it, you will meet Cassandra - she goes by Cass. She's basically a descendant of the god of death. She also really hates her mom. She is weak in her eyes and definitely calls her the C word any time she can.

I wanted to know why this girl was in a cage for most of her life. I al

A Court of Blood and Void is the first book in the War of the Gods seres by author Meg Xuemei X. It is also my first book that I have read of Meg's, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Some parts I completely, completely loved but there were a few things that irked me. We will get to those things later on, but let's start with what I loved. I loved the set up of the series. I really loved that. The plot of this bo
Cassandra "Cass" has lived most of her life locked up in a cage by her mother who believes that Cass is fated to destroy the world with her powers. She is rescued by the head vampire and a fae shapeshifter who believe she is the weapon they need to save the world from the Olympian gods that are threatening to destroy it. Cass doesn't want to be used as anyone's weapon, it is just another cage in her view. But she goes with the two guys anyway and eventually meets the other 2 guys of their group ...more

Not really sure what to rate this.

Her attitude: 1 star
Her stubborness: negative 5 stars
Her childish behavior: not even negative, just non-existent. No stars. Nope.

But I do like the plot, the levels of complications with her mom and the gods, ect. ect.

I'm just NOT,nor ever, a fan of MC's (especially heroines) who are childishly entitled and act like teenagers.

TBH the battle around page 190-ish was much deserved on her part. Someone needs to put her in her place. How those males find her worthy i

For me I categorise 3* books in two categories, those that were okay, but I'm in no rush to pick up the next one (or might not bother) and those I had my issues with but want to read the next one. I'd put this is the latter, so maybe more like 3.5 stars.

My problem with this book is the things I liked, I also disliked at the same time.

The main character, Cass, is a good example of this. One the one hand she's a kick ass, foul mouthed, independent woman who I had some "you go girl" moments with. H

She’s a 15 year old obnoxious foul mouthed brat

It’s a no for me. Like some of the others readers, I couldn’t get into the story once you found out she was 15 and grown men were salivating after her like rabid dogs. Also had issues with the premise of A two year old little girl being locked in a cage, who was only visited by her mother, but knew all about the outside world. The author tried to explain this away by saying that will she slept, she visited the human world and that is the way she lea

2-3,5* mixed feelings
Okay first off i know it's fucking weird that she's only 15 but later on in the series we got to know she's like 23 human years so Yeah. I understand why people can't stand this brat and her attitude. But i enjoyed her snarky self and the guys. But i could be a bit annoyed sometimes

Good start to a series

This is the first book I've read from this author and I truly liked it. Great story, steamy scenes and magic. All things I love in a book.

At 48%- I get that she's been in a cage her whole life...but she didn't have to be so mean to poor Fagan now I bet he dies simply because of her actions when he hadn't even done anything wrong to her. She really went around that whole escape plan wrong...why didn't she just wait until they got her magic unbound...oh wait she's not all that smart.

And yeah she got Fagan murdered.....ok for like the first half of the book I really didn't like her. She acted like a very spoiled stuck up brat. But I

Decent start to a story. The main problem I have is with the FMC. Don’t get me wrong I love me a snarky bad A heroine, however I felt Cass was a little too immature and hostile to live up to the heroine title. Warning insta love and fated mates. I really like how the guys tend to get a kick out of her attitude problem.

I was really thrown upon meeting our foul mouthed bad attitude FMC. Since she had been caged from the age of 2 I had no idea how she new all that fouls mouthed language or had the

I always get excited when I see that Meg has a new book. I empty my schedule and know that I won't accomplish anything until I reach the last page. That is how this one was, too.
The character of Cass spoke to me on some deep level. Her pain, fear, distrust, anger, hate, and desire for vengeance mixed with her need to be loved, her desire to trust, her joy at the simple things, and fear that vengeance wouldn't come were so realistic and honest. I was there with her through all of it. I love her

I am loving this new series. Cassandra is so full of fire and is determined to be free of the cage she has spent most of her life in thanks to her mother. She can't seem to stop herself from saying exactly what she is feeling and really trusts no one.

She has been alone in that cage since the age of two and only knows things from her ability to dreamwalk. It has not prepared her for the four men who are determined to not only claim her as their mate but also believe she can save the world from th

I quickly fell into this book and found I couldn’t put it down. It’s my first read from the author, but absolutely will not be my last. The FMC Cass is stubborn and strong, jaded and starved for affection. The author pulls off the complexities of Cass’ character flawlessly. She didn’t come off as annoying or hateful, or TSTL at all...even when Cass does things that go against convention or perhaps even common sense, there are valid reasons for it. Her past has definitely shaped her, but

When Cass first met Lorcan and Reysalor she vowed to never be used or caged again. It's a pity she didn't know then that they were her mates and she could have saved her energy being so rebellious. I was beginning to wonder if Alaric and Pryder were ever gonna make an appearance in this installment. Their interactions with Cass were worth the wait though. Jezebel made every Disney mother figure look like the fairy godmother in Cinderella. It'll be fun when she finally gets her comeuppance. Meg c ...more

Incomplete series with each book ending on a cliffhanger.

After being locked in a cage for the majority of her life, the Main character was just super annoying. A 16 year old in the body of a 23 year old, with the maturity of a spoiled 13 year old.
The no character development, the character just move from one confrontation to the next offer the same confrontation in a different setting, with endless drama between the main character and her fated mates.

I got bored and skimmed over 50% of the book

Pretty good

Been waiting to read this for awhile. I enjoyed the cast of characters, except Cass, and the storyline. I get that Cass has been abused and locked up. But she really just comes across as an entitled, angry, child who throws temper tantrums without consequences for her actions. Or at lesser consequences that make her want to change. And her fierce males end up as doormats. But other than that frustrating tidbit and the phrase ‘a dark light’, it was a good story. Hoping Cass grows the h

I liked this story, and you may be wondering why I gave it three stars if I liked it. Well, that would be because I just liked it, the story line and was fantastic and the male characters were great but the female MC, Cass, was so annoying. Instead of just talking to the men or rationally thinking through anything, and I mean anything at all, she just keeps trying to find reasons to bolt. I get the mistrust, I get the need to not be caged, but if she had voiced any of her inner turmoil to any of ...more

And still I thirst for that perfect RH series though a few have come pretty close this year. This one had a few elements that I sought but just missed the mark as a slayer of Gods in the nubile body of a teenager is released into the world to wreak havoc on 'cakes' of all things.

Loved it.

I loved cass. She was foul mouthed and unapologetic about not giving respect to people who didn't deserve it. Jezabel was a horrible person and I love that cass called her what she is. The plotline is exciting and I can't wait to see where things go from here. I want to get to know more about the guys they are still unknown right now except for one.

This book... I just don’t really know where to begin. The “heroine” is an immature, whiny, stubborn, asshole. She annoyed me the entirety of the book, but yet I couldn’t stop reading hoping I would see some drastic character development.... which never happened. I wanted to throw the book across the room every time she spoke. It was almost a DNF, due to her crappy ass attitude and, honestly, there were only 2 reasons I finished it at all. Number one being I was hopeful that she would grow up and ...more

TSTL heroines make me sad and angry. And lemme tell you, this one is pretty dang dumb. “Strong” does not equal contrary for contrary’s sake. The whole plot was dumb. The men were dumb. Servants were dumb.

This was bad.

This book has been on my TBR list since it went up for pre-order I think.
The cover drew me in like a moth to a flame.
I had a little idea of what to expect with a title like A Court of Blood and Void.
However, this was not AT ALL what I though it would be like.
And in a good way.

Cassandra has been locked away under a castle by her very own mother who believes she is a monster.
A creature designed to set the world on it's path to destruction.
Cass thought this was her fate, a very long and painful
Dnf 69%: I think my main issue with this book was the MC. I think the author went over the top trying to make the MC a Tough Girl™, and she’s just an annoying brat. I also disliked that the author made sure to describe the MC as full and shapely, even though her malnutrition keeps getting mentioned. That’s not how that works.

This story also had some holes in it. The party was utterly stupid. Why the hell would the vampire lord let the MC’s mom or the king in the same room as the MC? Also, in the
