Watch for Me by Twilight by Kirsty Ferry is a 2018 Choc lit publication.

A lovely, poignant story!

Cassie Aldrich is helping her very pregnant sister-in-law plan an important annual event. But, she’s feeling more than a little overwhelmed and stressed out when she realizes she had taken on more than she bargained for.

But, when she meets Aidan Edwards, a man looking for more information about his great-great uncle Robert, who may have had ties to Hartsford Hall, Cassie soon finds herself immersed in the past, as Robert’s story comes to life, with a little help from a beautiful aristocrat from the late 1930’s.

As is so often the case with dual time frames, the most potent part of the story is centered in the past. I think the present- day events are often a means to an end, using it as a portal to the past, releasing information bit by bit to increase the anticipation. But, I did enjoy watching Cassie and Aidan working out the puzzle, one piece at a time, using information they discovered at Hartsford Hall. They made a great team and their segment was like following two amateur sleuths around while they searched for clues and solved a mystery. It was a lot of fun being a part of that adventure. I must admit that Aidan was very cute, and his attraction to Cassie was charming and very sweet.

The World War two segments were very well done, quite atmospheric, sad, and poignant, but there was also a fantastic love story that needed to be shared with future generations. I was so happy Aidan and Cassie were able to solve the mystery of Robert’s past and shared their delight their discoveries brought them.

While the book is promoted as a ‘time slip’ story, I don’t know if I’d say it fits perfectly into that category, but there is a mild paranormal element which added a little more magic to the story.
This book is a part of a series, and it is my understanding that some characters from previous installments make and appearance in this book, but it worked perfectly as a stand -alone. However, now that I’ve read this one, I want to learn more about this series!

The author did a great job of connecting the past with the present with a special story sure to be told to future generations for a long time to come- no doubt beginning with Aidan and Cassie.
Overall, this is a light, entertaining read- very enjoyable!!

Lady Cassandra Aldrich (Cassie) was just a little nervous about the upcoming Living History weekend. Her sister-in-law Elodie was the one normally in charge of the special events at Hartsford Hall, but she was pregnant with twins, so it fell to Cassie to do the bulk of the organizing. Months to go – so she thought – but suddenly August was almost on them.

Aidan Edwards had made himself known to Cassie at the Hall and she’d hired him to repair the tennis courts, pool and spa for the upcoming History weekend. But as she came to know him, Cassie realized that Aidan’s great-great Uncle Robert was a significant part of the Hall’s history. The story of the 1930s; aspiring young poet, Robert and a delightful, spirited and carefree woman who was his muse slowly came to light – all before the events of the second World War. But could they unearth what had happened after the war? Or would that mystery remain unsolved?

Watch for Me by Twilight by Kirsty Ferry is the 3rd in the Hartford Mysteries which is set in two timeframes – current day and the 1930s onwards. I particularly enjoyed the chapters of the past, with the parallels in the current day poignant and intriguing. A thoroughly delightful historical mystery which I highly recommend.

With thanks to NetGalley and Choc Lit Publishers for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

When I read the first 2 Hartsford mysteries Cassie was one of those characters that I really wasn't sure of however she really comes into her own in this book as we learn her backstory along with the time-slip of some beautiful 1930's settings. I really enjoyed the way both of these stories played out and I loved the World War 2 element of the book, a time period I really enjoy reading about thanks to some stories from my own grandparents. Delightful as always and can't wait to see what happens next.

This is a solid story that entwines a gorgeous love story with poignant history, that I can guarantee will have you mesmerized. Ms Ferry is a new to me author, yet once I read about this book I was intrigued the premise of it and I can say that I was not disappointed. Time slip novels are always a bit hit and miss with me, but Ms Kerry has done a wonderful job at keeping each side of the story well rounded, it isn’t taxing the story flows steadily between the past and the present.

The story is split between two era’s and focuses on two set’s of individuals that over time their lives become inexplicably entwined. In the present day Cassie has taken on far too much in order to arrange a Historical day at Hartsford Hall, then suddenly dashing Aidan turns up with lots of questions. Aidan is researching great, great Uncle Robert who he believes was at Hartford Hall at a crucial point in his life in the late 30’s. Soon both Cassie and Aidan are embroiled in the past in trying to find out about Robert and his time at the hall. As they search for the answer to Aidan’s question’s they soon find a flicker of something crackle between them. As well as two heart wrenching love stories there is a mystery that as the story goes along we readers slowly discover the truth as Aidan Cassie do, which really makes the whole book very all inclusive between reader and character’s.

I love how the story entwines two completely different era’s and stories to create this wonderfully immersive story about love and heartbreak. I was actually more drawn towards Robert’s story during the 1930’s mainly because I do love an historical, but the way the author has capture the essence of the time is beautiful, her writing really pulls at the heartstrings as well as leaves you feeling all warm and comforted.

That is what I describe about this book; comforting! I love how Ms Kerry has brought together these two eras, intermingling Roberts life with the present is quite stirring stuff. This is book three in the Hartford Hall Mysteries, I hadn’t read any of the previous in the series, but that didn’t matter or hindrance my enjoyment of this book. This was a pleasant and charming book to read, and from this I know that I will be read much more from this talented author.

Mesmerising!

Keeping the past alive ...

I have already read the whole Hartsford mystery series and this one was also a must read. Did it live up to my expectations? Well, the book gets a big YES from me.

Normally I am not so keen on stories taking place during the war, but here I was pleasantly surprised. No endless details about the misery or the poverty and although, of course, it was a very sad period, the author focussed on other things.

A love story from the past seems to be the base to an ever growing connection between two people in the present.
The author reunites us with some characters we already know and introduces some new ones as well.

A story full of emotions, good ones as well as sad ones, about reunions and new lives.

Thank you, Kirsty Ferry and Choc Lit. I can't wait to see what the future will bring.

I absolutely love the Hartsford Mysteries and Kirsty Ferry’s latest offering in the series -  Watch For Me by Twilight -  is no exception.  Lady Cassandra Aldrich (Cassie) is organising the next Living History weekend at the Hall.  Her sister in law Elodie, who is currently expecting twins has handed over responsibility to her, despite the misgivings of husband Alex (Cassie’s brother). But Cassie is undaunted. After all, how hard can it be?

Aidan Edwards sees Cassie’s advertisement asking for mementoes for the Weekend. Having recently gone through his Great-Great Uncle Robert’s trunk he realises some of the items there connect him to the Hall.  Taking along photos and Robert’s sketch pad he takes a trip to Hartsford Hall to investigate further.

Watch for Me by Twilight is a time slip which gives us two hugely enjoyable stories – one set in the present where Cassie and Aidan make some interesting discoveries as they work together on the Between the Wars Living History project (with a little romance along the way) and the other in the past which details Robert’s love affair with Stella Aldrich.

Thoroughly recommended...

As Elodie is pregnant the organisation of the history weekend at Hartsford Hall has fallen to Cassie and she employs Aidan to repair the tennis courts and pool area. Aidan has a particular interest though as his great great uncle was involved with Hartsford as a renowned poet. Can he find out any more information about him especially his later life.

Another lovely story in this series. Once again it's told in a dual timeline which works well. With great characters, atmosphere and storylines or is a series well worth reading

I love each return visit to Hartsford Hall, and the latest in the series is just as wonderful with a great mix of mystery, history and romance! The perfect combination!

This story follows Cassie as she steps in to help her sister in law with preparations for the annual Living History Weekend. As Elodie is pregnant with twins her health is her main concern, so Cassie is sure she can take on the bulk of arranging things at Hartsford Hall, but is soon concerned she may have bitten off more than she can chew!

Aiden is a keen motorbike nut, and while he's out riding one day he finds himself at Hartsford and gets caught up in the history of the place which makes him think back to his great great uncle, Robert, and the unanswered questions he has about him. When he spots a link to the Hall in some old keepsakes he is keen to find out more and soon finds himself in contact with Cassie who is just as eager to delve into the history that they know very little of about those who lived at the Hall in the past.

The story then flits between the current timeline, and back to the late 1930's when those living at Hartsford are trying to enjoy their lifestyles but the threat of war is hanging over them all. For Lady Stella it could mean saying goodbye to Rob, the writer she has fallen in love with.

For me the books of Kirsty Ferry are like a giant hug! No matter what topic she is writing about, you feel completely wrapped up in the goings on and the characters all become friends and family to you, and this is what I loved about Twilight. Cassie is such an energetic character - eager to please and not let anyone down, and her enthusiasm for getting the most out of the event is evident for all to see. And in Aiden she finds someone just as interested in looking back to the past, and their willingness to keep digging for more clues to what happened was fantastic. And the storyline of Lady Stella and Rob was just as captivating and really caught the essence of the time as well as capturing their emotions and feelings towards one another.

Loved it and highly recommend it - if you've not read any of the Hartsford series before you can read this as a standalone! But you'll want to read more if you pick this up!!

I read the Hartford Mysteries one after the other, so I am reviewing them as a group as well.
I will start with my favourite Watch for Me at Christmas; Tom and Emmy's and Charles and Millie's stories really resonated with me. It was a really lovely story that I read in one sitting.
My second favourite was Watch For Me By Moonlight; I loved Alex and Elodie and really enjoyed the mystery of what happened to Georgiana.
Watch for Me by Twilight was my third favourite; although Aiden and Rob were great characters, it took me a while to warm to both Cassie and Stela. I thought they were both too spoilt and shallow to be likeable at the start, but the more I read, the more I liked them - so if you have the same issue, keep reading, you won't regret it.
My least favourite was Watch for Me by Candlelight; it was still a great story, but I have a strong aversion to any story that uses a particular trope . But this is a personal issue and the historical storyline is still engaging.
As a whole, this is an entertaining series and I would definitely recommend it.

Have you ever wondered what your ancestors were like? As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews I have tried looking into my family history and Aiden does just this and is looking for more information on the life of his great-great uncle Robert. This leads him to Hartsford Hall where he meets Cassie Aldrich who is preparing for a Living History Weekend.

In amongst organising the event, and with Aiden’s help to restore parts of the Hall, both characters busy lives interrupt at times to take them away from looking for Aiden’s Uncle however it keeps creeping back and they are surprised by what they discover as the house and grounds slowly reveals secrets which help Aiden find out more about his Uncle and the life he led.

‘How did one cope with something like that? Because the people living back then had had no choice but to deal with it.’

I loved the settings, dipping in and out of the time periods between the present and world war two, it just makes you realise how we things have changed and how we deal with things are so different. What I loved most was the fact that the two blended together and that the past can always teach us lessons even without realising it.

Once again Kirsty’s research shines through. What I love about her books is the descriptions of the characters and the settings making them come alive on the page and sucking you in to both worlds.

”Aiden Edwards decided just go for it. He needed to feel alive again after the winter, so he would follow the road and just see where it took him.’

What journey will you take?

I have really enjoyed all of Kirsty’s Hartsford series, but I think this one might be the jewel in the crown. Written in Kirsty’s ‘time slip’ style, this is the story of Cassie (who we have met before in the other Hartsford books) and Aidan, an engineer who comes to her assistance when she rashly agrees to take on the production of a living weekend at her ancestral home, Hartsford Hall, while her sister in law is heavily pregnant with twins. The previous ‘time’ involves Stella, an earlier member of Cassie’s family, and Rob, who is from Aidan’s family tree, at around the start of the Second World War. I am not usually a fan of that era, preferring my history rather older, but this one has slipped through my net, and I am pleased to say that I am so glad it did. It is such a pleasure to read a good story, well written, without lots of unnecessary explicit sexual content, but with a very satisfactory happy ending. Thank you Kirsty, I am looking forward to your next productions – be they continuations of existing stories, or the birth of new ones.

The third in the Hartsfords Mysteries, each a stand alone book with a few main characters re-appearing for extra interest. The time slip is not so extreme as in the previous two books, Watch for Me by Twilight slips between the present day and the Second World War. Cassie Aldrich is organising a Living History Weekend at Hartsfords Hall when Aiden Edwards arrives hoping to discover more about his great-great uncle Robert. The past starts during 1936 when Robert meets Stella and her friends at Hartsfords Hall, all living luxurious and carefree lives that are about to change dramatically. Watch for Me by Twilight alternates from past to present as Cassie and Aiden attempt to discover what happened to Robert, at the same time a modern day romance is unfurling.
I look forward to book four in the series.

I haven't read the first two books in the series, but this didn't matter and I enjoyed thsi book as a standalone read. Having said this, I really enjoyed this book and will be adding the first two to my reading pile.

A super time slip story which moves effortlessly between the two stories and timeframes - present day and wartime. The story is set around Hartsford and its hall - a perfect setting beautifully described. Well written characters who I easily engaged with despite not having read the first books in the series. I was captivated by the poignant intertwined love stories and found this book difficult to put down. A really satisfying ending.

A fantastic time slip novel which I highly recommend.

Kirsty does it again. I am a great fan of her previous books so was delighted to be given Watch for Me by Twilight to read in return for a review and this book didn’t disappoint. I can thoroughly recommend it. Again a time-slip novel. We watch two love stories unfold. The first story starts just before the Second World War years and is particularly moving, with characters it is easy to understand and like When Aiden arrives at Hartsford to help Cassie, he starts to uncover his great uncle Robert’s romantic history and connection with the Hall, as well as beginning a romantic encounter of his own. Lovely characters, great story, beautifully written. Thank you Kirsty and I look forward to the next book.

This is a time lapse story, part of a series but very much a stand alone story. Cassie and Aidan meet when she takes charge of a themed weekend in Hartsford Hall. The story of Stella and Rob is interposed with Cassie and Aiden’s. Both sections are so well written and put together you have to keep reading to find out what happens next. Two romances for the price of one, each one complete, separate but interlinked. The story of Stella and Rob is set just before and during WW2, Cassie and Aiden’s in present day. I loved seeing the differences in life in the two eras and the similarities which love provides. A great read, very romantic but also engaging.

A new time slip by one of my favourite authors... I knew I would love it, and it definitely measured up to my expectations.
If you haven't read the other books in the series, you can start with this one... and then I bet you'll want to read the others.
If you did read them, you'll probably be as happy as I was to follow Cassie's story, in which we see Alex and Elodie of Watch for Me by Moonlight again, and that's set during the months when the Living History weekend of Watch for Me by Candlelight was organised. And of course there's also a new pair of fascinating historical heroes, with mementos found by the present day ones.

Mystery, romance, history, time slip. Helloooo? I loved this novel!
Cassie is to organize the Living History at Hartsford Hall. Aidan answers an ad concerning the Hall. His connection is through his great-great uncle Robert. Going through his old trunk, he discovers some items that may help out with the event.
What are the connections of the past between Robert and Stella? Two stories in one. No spoilers here.

You know with Kirsty Ferry you’re going to get real, raw stories as well as quite literally ghosts from the past. This is the third full length novel set at Hartsford House.

This time it is Cassie’s story, and she meets Aidan. Their world is about to collide with the desperate days of WWII, and the many tragedies for the family and its friends. It has a good twist too.

This is not my favourite of the stories so far, as I’m not keen on wartime romances, but I still enjoyed it and look forward to more stories.
