This book, half prose and half graphic content, is a set of sequels to the webcomic Narbonic. As such, much of it won't make sense if you haven't read the comic, but I have to say that it has one of the funniest Schrodinger's Cat jokes in history, even if some of the humor won't make sense if you don't know the background of the two "human" characters. Narbonic and its "sequel" Skin Horse are two of the best webcomics ever, both dealing with the concept of mad scientists and their creations. If the idea of funny science fiction appeals to you, then you really should read both of them, but read Narbonic first, because they take place in the same universe, and eventually there is some crossover between the two. This volume, with its stories about interdimensional closets, beard curses, demonic music and a bunch of other things that rarely come up in most of our daily lives, it a real treat for fans of Narbonic, and the prose pieces demonstrate that Shaenon Garrity is weirdly even more creative than fans of her comics would have thought. That is truly disturbing...
This book won't make a lot of sense to anyone who hasn't read Narbonic, but it's a delicious extra helping of prose and comics for fans of the award-winning webcomic and its mad scientists.
