Hi Bob!
By: Bob Newhart
Narrated by: Will Ferrell, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow, Judd Apatow, Conan O'Brien, Sarah Silverman, Marc Maron
This was a free book from Audible and I am so thankful. I have always been a big fan of Bob Newhart. His calm way of delivering a joke just made it even funnier. This has Bob and many newer comedians discussing how they got started in the business and other comedians that they knew or admired. Lots of skits were played, lots of fun info, and great memories relived

I enjoyed this recorded version of Hi Bob! It was narrated by Bob Newhart with his many guests. It was like friends sitting down and discussing work and old friends. It was funny, insightful and really enjoyable. I think Bob Newhart is an amazing comedian and I enjoyed listening in to a piece of his life. Thoroughly enjoyed.
This was fun! I am largely unfamiliar with Bob Newhart, so picking this as one of my two Audible originals for the month was a calculated risk.

Bob graciously interviews Lisa Kudrow, Sarah Silverman, Jimmy Kimmel, Will Ferrell, Judd Apatow, and Conan. Show segments include everything from how they got their starts to their creative processes and telling one another jokes.

If you enjoy Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, this little project's vibe will bring you the same enjoyment, I think. The onl

This was a freebie from audible books. The phrase you get what you pay for applies. Bob Newhart was apparently 88 when he made this and became 89 just last month. At the beginning a couple of minutes were played from his first three albums that were recorded in 1960 and 1961. But after that it was about 95% Bob chatting with about six comedian friends about their lives in comedy. I guess it was a little bit interesting but not really very much. When I was approaching the end I checked on Apple M ...more

An Audible Original.
That’ll teach me.

You would think the fact that I have no idea who Bob is would have deterred me from picking this up. You would be wrong.

I saw Comedy, StandUp, Will Ferrel, Sarah Silverman and went: “Oh yeah! This is going to be great.”

It wasn’t.

I would have enjoyed this a lot more if it wasn’t so cut up into small bits and pieces. It was like they interviewed all the comedians and then chopped up their individual interviews and collaged it together so that it gives an ill

This is not really a book, but an organized chatting excerpts presented as an audiobook by a comedian called Bob Newhart. In the book, Bob and various other comedians talked about their career: how they each started, how they faced their own challenges, how they approach their career, etc. If you are interested in that career path, I guess there is a lot to take from the book. But if we ignore the specifics about comedy or show biz, there is still some interesting bits about careers in general t ...more

A very enjoyable Audible Original. Bob Newhart is a treasure. At 88 he still has it.

If you’re watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel – and if you aren’t you should be – then you know that Lenny Bruce appears as the comic lodestar of the early 1960s. He’s the one pushing the envelope, the one who’s both a model for and a provocation to Midge as she figures out her own comic voice.

If you look closely, Bob Newhart is there as well. It’s his routine that Midge’s wannabe comedian husband steals and performs as his own. (It’s the skit where he’s on the phone, as Abraham Lincoln’s press a

I had forgotten how funny Bob Newhart is! So glad I picked this as one of my Audible Originals. I had a great time listening to Bob and a slew of other famous comedians like Sarah Silverman, Will Farrell, Jimmy Kimmel, Conan O'Brien, and others. I felt like I was sitting in the room with them all and laughed out loud several times. I'll certainly listen to this again.

Conceptually great. Wonderful personalities. Not great execution. The conversations were too heavily edited so that they come out as vignettes and sound bytes instead anything in depth.

Bob Newhart was for decades one of the most popular and consistently likable comics in America. His two tv series might be better remembered now (or not, I could be completely wrong about that), but he also had a long career as a stand-up comic, with some tremendously popular spoken-word albums. When he started out, there were no comedy clubs, and the entire experience of being a professional comedian was very different.

In this audiobook, he talks with fellow comedians, about his stand-up career

Audible recently began offering something called Audible Originals and also, to whet the user's appetite I assume, they offered two free choices. Along with a short horror story, Lullabye, by Jonathan Maberry (which isn't available here on Goodreads to add to my list of books), I chose this.

I love Bob Newhart. I used to love the Bob Newhart show when I was a child and, later, the Newhart show (with Larry, Daryl, and his other brother, Daryl). Newhart's deadpan delivery and hangdog expression ma

This is a fun book if you're interested in the craft of stand up comedy and like hearing comedians chatting with each other.

Moderately entertaining. It's usually interesting to hear people talk about their jobs and I watch a lot of stand up specials (it's almost the only thing Netflix recommends to me now) so I enjoyed this. Not particularly enlightening or funny though. The most ear catching part was a coincidence. I just finished watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which references "some comedian on TV" who stole one of the characters Abraham Lincoln joke. Turns out that character stole it from the comedian on TV a ...more

A short "shop talk" book between Bob Newhart and some other comedians. I always enjoy hearing stories told like these, where you get to learn more about the person behind the persona.

3.5 stars seems like a good compromise for a short audio book that at times was terrific and at other times fell a little flat.

Bob Newhart has a voice that's less strong than his more youthful self, and seems a little slower on the draw than I remember, but he still has that deadpan delivery and sense of great timing that made him famous. Pretty impressive at age 88! His discussions with various other comedians were generally interesting as well as often funny. This was a free download from Audi

Kind of meh. This was a free audible 'book' for October. I guess I thought it would be a bit more about Bob, but it's mostly conversations with Bob and some of his friends. There are definitely some laughs in there, but it certainly didn't move me to go and check out more stuff by Bob Newhart.

I enjoyed this, mainly because I like to hear about behind the scenes stuff. Bob is older, and thus his voice is not the same, and at 82, one is not as quick as when one is younger. (plus, Bob Newhart was not one of those comics known for fast-talking)

If you are looking for a comedy album, this is not for you. It really is just Bob and some current comedians sitting down to discuss a variety of questions/topics. Some were interesting, and I did get a laugh or two just from the conversations. If
