I was born to play and bred to win.

My priorities were instilled in me early on—family and football. Those ideals led me to TGU and a coach whose ironclad principles mirrored my own.

With one last college season to play, my goal was singular—get drafted. By realizing my NFL dream, I could save my family, our ranch, and the only home I’d ever known.

Two birds, one ball.

What an epic way to end The Underdogs series. Every book in this series has been a five star favorite for me and this was no exception. After reading the first part of this story in the 'Team Player' anthology, I was chomping at the bit to get to this. It was everything I wanted and more. Lance and Harper stole my heart. I loved this book so much!

Harper and Lance meet in college. Lance is a football player but also loves boxing. He uses as an outlet, as he’s got a lot going on in his

Oh. My. God. I can not deal. Lance and Harper knocked me right on my ass in this story and what the hell am I supposed to even do now?! The Guy in the Middle is an enemies to lovers forbidden romance surrounding a football player turned FIGHTER (yes. A fighter. Insert bulging eyes emoji here!) and a dancer whose shocking secret turns their entire dynamic on its head! This story is so sexy, so heavy with emotion, so unexpectedly angsty, so heartwrenching, so blissfully romantic, I COULD NOT GET ...more

Since seriously falling in love with Theo in The Guy on the Right, I've been so excited for more of this Underdog Series by Kate Stewart. The Guy in the Middle features Lance's story, the quiet roommate that no one ever sees except on the football field.

Lance and Harper's connection felt so simple and sweet, although it was really anything but. Lance carried the weight of the world on his shoulders, and I loved his determination and loyalty to his family. Harper also put her family first but

Lance and Harper’s long awaited story!! Ever since reading their novella in Team Player 2, I have been anxiously waiting to read their full story. It was well worth the wait, because Kate Stewart delivered another beauty!!! This series is fantastic, and while this book can be a stand alone, it really ties the whole series together in the best way! Definitely recommend!!! (Beta)

I read this as part of the Team Player 2 Anthology, Fair Catch.

I love a hot enemies-to-lovers romance and Lance and Harper will give you what you want! !She’s about to go head-to-head with a hot jock and come out with a TKO!

Lance is quiet, broody and keeps to himself. All he has time to focus on is football, school and family obligations. The last thing he wants is any complications. Getting drafted is what he needs.

Harper is driven to reach her goal. Dancing is everything to her. She spends

Gaaaahhhh! As if I wasn't still swooning enough from TGotR, Kate Stewart punts this perfection into my lap.
Lance is closed off and hot tempered, with good reason since he is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Of course, for me, it just turns up my girlybits to overdrive because I already know there is more to his story and I want, no NEED, to find out. From the jump I knew Harper would be the one to help penetrate that tough exterior of his. She is strong and independent with

Read as book 1 in anthology but I wanted this particular book to shine. It's nothing new under the sun plot wise but very well written.

Side note to author: no coach would ruin his season over his daughter's love life. Her dad came off terrible...almost a star off for him being a little OTT. You think?

Lance and Harper cliffhanger so a star off automatically. I hate trying to recapture the vibe.

11 stars to “The Guy in the Middle” Kate Stewart did not hold back. I repeat Kate Stewart did not hold back on giving Lance a story worth everything. In this novella we get a unique and unpredictable story that just amazed and surprised me. I really thought I knew how this was going to play out but, nope Kate’s writing doesn’t put characters in the stereo typical mold. She blew me away with Lance’s depth. Also, Harper had her own uniqueness that connected with me personally. Her writing does ...more

I’m freaking addicted to Kate’s words! She doesn’t make it any easier to break away when she gives us deliciousness like Lance!!!
First, this slight enemies to lovers romance sucked me in quick! The simmering attraction boiling beneath the surface for both parties involved had my eyeballs glued to the page waiting to see what happened next.
Omg....Lance had me swooning before long and I was rooting for him and Harper!
I can’t wait to see more of them in the next book! I need it now!

Another 5 solid stars for Kate Stewart!

Lance and Harper: I loved them together and as individuals. The circumstances they were put under were heavy for such young adults and when you’re inexperienced, scared of failure and don’t want to disappointment...well that can put stress on even the strongest relationships. That being said, I’m very excited to see where Kate takes these two in the future. This didn’t feel like too bad of a cliffy more like an

Wow. This story blew me away! I read it as part of the Team Player 2 anthology and was blown away by how much story and how many emotions are jam packed into a short story.

Lance was pretty absent for most of The Guy on the Left save for one very poignant scene. This story gave us the background for that scene and, to be honest, I would have preferred less of Troy and more Lance in book #1.

Harper was a little spitfire. So passionate about her dancing, but she was also really amazingly good with

The Guy in the Middle (Fair Catch) by Kate Stewart

I have been curious about the mysterious Lance from The Guy on The Right. I am impressed at how much story Kate Stewart packed in this novella.

Lance has kept to himself because he is laser focused on his future. He is hoping to be drafted to save his family farm, but his real passion is boxing. Harper is the coach’s daughter and her dream is dancing. They are both unwilling to give up their dreams. I loved how Harper wasn’t willing to

Oh my, what a story! Part of the Team Player 2 anthology, The Guy in the middle will rock your socks, I loved it

There is so much to Lance and Harper, as people they have layers and layers we see unwrapping as they get to know and understand each other. From enemies to lovers in a forbidden relationship these two are sexy, hot, angsty and they (well Kate Stewart's fabulous writing) bring all the emotions in to play.

ARC Team Reader for Team Player - September 2019

Lance was a character that piqued my interest in The Guy on the Right and I am so glad we get his story. All of my lingering questions from the first book were answered and just as I suspected, Lance was like an onion. Layer by layer, more and more was revealed giving him so much depth and making him feel so real to me. Kate is so skilled at character development and this one was no different in that department despite the short length. Harper was

Kate Stewart has blown me away again and with a novella!! Lance and Harper share a mutual hatred of each other. They really only have that in common or do they? You won't want to miss this amazing follow up to The Guy on the Right! You will want more of these men and women in your life. Kate has some strong women in her stories, it's not all about the men. I look forward to more from her in January 2020 with the next installment in this series.

Every time I read a book by Kate Stewart, I love her words more and more. I was crazy excited about this story because I had fallen in love with the characters in The Guy on the Right. But I still was not prepared for the absolute jaw-dropping charm and bad boy behavior from Lance!

Lance was a mystery in TGOTR...but you always knew there was a story behind him. And boy does K Stewart give him one. This guy is tough, but a caretaker; cocky, but honest and genuine. He is a protector and holds back

Who knew there was so much more to Lance than meets the eye. As a supporting character in The Guy on the Right, I certainly didn’t. Don’t worry, if you haven’t read TGotR yet, (you really should though, cos it’s amazing), you can still read this one with no difficulty. Although this is a novella, currently part of the Team Player 2 anthology, it’s not short on content. It’s a great enemies to lovers/forbidden romance with wonderful fully fleshed out characters and I loved it.

His voice shakes with question. "I'm the goal?"
"You're the goal."

The Guy on the Left by Kate Stewart was a heartbreaking, emotional and heartwarming story of second chances, forgiveness and trust. We first met Troy as Theo's roommate in The Guy on the Right. He was the beautiful, charismatic, football star playboy. He showed all is flaws and made some really bad choices which made you wonder if this guy had any redeeming qualities. But underneath that confident smile and all that bravado is a

Adorable Romantic Comedy! Great twists to keep you interested in the story. Emotions are constantly up and down as the story progressed. Fit wit fills the pages as the characters interact. I finished the story in one sitting!
The only thing I notice that seemed to bug me a little was the abrupt personality changes of the lead character. This is obviously attributed to their connection but honestly I’m not sure if I buy it. But other than that it is very well written and very enjoyable to read!
