Original and compelling! If you love Norse mythology, then you'll love this. Erik Harrison is on the run, and with the Valkyrie who first tried to kill him. When she kissed him instead, he was bewitched. But that one kiss sets them both on a fateful course of danger and love.

Another adventurous and heartfelt tale by Nantus!

Erik should have died on the battlefield. All of his fellow soldiers were killed in an ambush and sent to Valhalla by Brenna, a fierce Valkyrie. She spared Erik, which is something she shouldn't have done. That's why her mission is to track him down and correct her mistake. Erik is difficult to follow and never stays anywhere long enough for her to easily find him, but once they finally meet again Brenna knows she can't kill him. What are the consequences of failing the task she's been assigned ...more

What a smart, sexy take on Norse god history! I wholeheartedly enjoyed this brewing romance between Erik and Brenna. Erik and Brenna's shared history is a fantastic basis for the friendship and love that develops. If you want to call Brenna's hunt to reap Erik's soul to send it to the glory of Valhalla as shared history.

I loved Brenna's loyalty to her sisters, the Valkeries, as well as her faith in Freyja, the leader of the Valkeries and also the Norse Goddess of Love. And I loved Erik's need t

This had soooooooo much potential, but fell flat for me. (sigh) I'm so sad about it too.

Erik is a fallen soldier. During a battle gone horribly wrong, he watched a woman fly through the sky and take his teammates one by one. Only to leave him on the battlefield alone after giving him a kiss. An image that has stayed with him for the past year while recovering and attempting to move on with what's left of his life. Then one day, this woman turns up out of nowhere. Except now she's trying to kill

This book was wonderfully heart-wrenching. This story takes you on a journey with a group of beautifully damaged people. You can’t help but want them to be happy and find peace. I laughed and cried in equal measure as the story unfolded. Then Nantus throws in Norse mythology and you’re hooked until you read the last page. This is a stay up all night to finish book!

A gorgeously told story that you will be happy you read. I sure was!

Her Alpha Viking by Sheryl Nantus is a sexy paranormal romance that takes a war weary soldier and up-ends his thoughts on life and death when a creature he’d thought to be a myth turns out to be real – and wants him dead.

Erik Harrison is mortally wounded on the battlefield and knows he’s dying when he sees a vision – a beautiful woman with wings, a Valkyrie, who releases his friends’ souls to make the journey to Valhalla. He’s not supposed to be able to see her or talk to her, but he does and in

It took me a few chapters to get into it, this is not my usual romance I read. Am actully happy that I took a chance with it, ended up really enjoying the story. Looking forward to reading her previous books.

Thank you to Netgalley and Entangled Publishing

Former Soldier Erik Harrison survived the ambush that killed the rest of his team. However, it seems time is running out for him since his soul was supposed to be reaped and sent to Valhalla by Valkyrie Brenna Lund and she's back to accomplish the task. Yet, Eric isn't about to go down without a fight. Unfortunately, Brenna isn't the only one after him. When another Valkyrie is dispatched to take out both Brenna and Erik, will they survive the battle or will they lose their shot at happy ever af

In terms of my enjoyment, 3 stars is probably generous. The way I actually "enjoyed" the book was probably more like 2 stars but I'm bumping it to 3 in an attempt to be objective.

My #1 issue with this book was with my expectations in regards to genre. I expected a fantasy/paranormal book, heavy on the Norse mythology. But honestly? This book reads like a contemporary romance. You can easily strip out all the Norse stuff and have the exact same story. It's basically about a cage fighter who winds

Sheryl Nantus is a new to me author. The cover for Her Alpha Viking is what caught my attention. Reading the blurb and learning the heroine was a Valkyrie had me reaching for the book. The first line grabbed me and had me thinking I was in for a good read.

Brenna Lund is a Valkyrie. She’s a warrior princess tasked with collecting the souls of warriors on Earth and taking them to Valhalla. It is a job she’s had for centuries, and one she’s very good at. She’s even one of Freyja’s favorites. Things

As Erik and Brenna become closer, the more they realize they want to risk everything for a future together.

This mythological based story is fascinating and romantic with strong, compelling characters that easily draw readers in and refuse to let go. The romance of this story has quite a few obstacles in the way of the happily ever after, one of which is the fact that Brenna was sent to kill Erik in order to correct her mistake. This causes quite a bit of emotional confusion as they struggle to s

Surrounded by sand and blood, a soldier watched as all the rest of his team died. Now a year later as Erik Harrison is fighting his way back to normality the woman he thought he dreamed up appears again. That starts a very dangerous series of events that could cost many lives.
Brenna Lund is or was a Valkyrie . She hesitated in her duty on the battlefield and has been sent, without her abilities, to complete her mission.
Why does this one man have the power to turn her world upside down.?

Pretty good read. Interesting Viking lore set in modern day. It just seemed to drag at points and I wanted it to get to the heart of the story faster. I loved the side characters and the story of the vertrans. It made me sad at points, but they all were such survivors that helped each other. Everyone wants to glorify war, but it is far from glorious and destroys so much.

Breanne was tough and she truly didn’t loose her faith in her gods. I think Kara got off too easy and I wish we had some of he

This book was something intriguing as it had parts where I was emotional, I laughed, I was angry.
Add of Norse mythology was cool. Added something even more exciting and feeling of unsure! and last twists were like OMG, HOW? I LOVE IT! - my exact thoughts!
I hope more books are on the way in this series!

My Thoughts......

I found "Her Alpha Viking" a good fantasy paranormal read that each chapter will definitely keep your attention. We find from the read that Erik Harrison should have died on the battle field with his fellow soldiers but was spared due to a Valhallan, Brenna Lund who had been a fierce Valkyrie. Now we find Brenna is on a mission to

Let me start by saying this concept is GREAT! I have read plenty of Valkyrie Fantasies and never understood why there weren't enough dealing with the modern-day warriors in the Armed Forces. I enjoy the very slow burn of the romance between Brenna and Erik. It is the most realistic aspect of the entire novel. The romance develops over months of them traveling with the veterans while running from the antagonist. I enjoyed their morning sparring matches and the fact that, despite the novel referri ...more

Week 3 of Shameless 2018 brings me another new author, Sheryl Nantus. I should have guessed the main plot device in this story if I paid attention to the book series name. Alas, I went in cold without even reading the blurb because I like to be taken by surprise.

I enjoyed this story. It definitely pulled me in to figure out what was going on and to learn more about this Norse mythos world. I have never been a huge fan of Norse mythology when compared to Greek. It is growing on me and Ms. Nantus

Unlike some previous reviewers of this book, I found it to be a perfect blend of general romance, mythology and suspense. Was it full on mythology, no. But I didn't expect it to be. I t was quite clearly set in the modern day and contained a good dollop of Norse mythology, enough to whet the whistle of a history and mythology nerd like myself but not enough to put off those who aren't into the esoteric.

Erik has a severe case of survivors guilt. He was saved on the battlefield by a beautiful ange

Erik Harrison is a former soldier who should’ve been dead with the rest of his unit. Because of this, he’s very unsettled, fighting in underground cage matches and never staying in one place too long. The one thing that’s bothered him is a mysterious woman he saw on the field when his teammates died. Valkyrie Brenna Lund has spent her entire life guiding the souls of dying warriors. She’s not sure why she didn’t retrieve Erik’s but since he didn’t die, she’s in trouble and must remedy the situat ...more

When Sheryl was telling me about this book (it's fun knowing local authors!), I was excited. Because I love paranormal romances and I've been way into the Viking ones lately. Going in, I got a nice bit of Viking mythos, a battle-scarred brawler searching for a Vakyrie, and a romance that develops realistically over time, but I also got more. This story is not just about Brenna and Erik- it's a tribute to the struggles of Vets in America, and a profound journey that ultimately accomplishes someth ...more

I really liked this entertaining read. The story is a romance wrapped in mythology, Brenna should have killed Erik on the battlefield so that he could be with his brothers instead he lived remembering the vision of an angel but living with the guilt he is still alive. Will she complete her mission before another is sent to kill them both? This is a fast-paced read with great characters and an entertaining story. I liked it.

This is a great book. I enjoyed the aspect that Brenna was a Valkyrie that was sent to the battle field to reap the souls of the warriors, but is taken off guard when Erik can see her, and fails in her mission to collect him. She is sent back to collect him, but find's she has feelings for him. She goes on the run with him to save both of them from another Valkyrie that is sent to eliminate them both, and an adventure ensues. ...more

3 1/2 Star Review.....

While this is not my usual genre, I loved the Norse mythology and the uniqueness of the plot. The storyline had a bit of everything; emotions, intrigue, laugh out loud moments and times I wanted to scream! The book was a little slow getting going, but it had interesting characters and good world building, so I hope there’s more to come.

Her Alpha Viking by Sheryl Nantus is a sexy paranormal romance that takes a myth from the Norse gods and dying wounded warrior to produce an emotive story .
Brenna Lund has been sent to earth to claim Erik's soul but fails in her task . Another Valkyrie is sent to complete her task ………… but ………….. with her attraction for Eric growing they find themselves on the run . Can they keep Brenna's sister from catching and killing them or can they change fate and have their own happy ever after ?

Erik was meant to go from the battlefield to the halls of Valhalla. Instead Breanna, a Valkyrie, catches his eye and changes the course of their destinies. With a one angry Valkyrie on their trail, life is taking an interesting turn.

This book was quite engaging! I loved the concept and twists of Norse mythology. I thought the romance between Erik and Breanna was low key, but had threads of attraction peeking through. Now, the hunt Kara put them was really good and had the best bits. Nantus stead

Because the lead female character is a Valkyrie this is technically Urban Fantasy. However, there are hardly any fantasy elements to the story. There is a vision at the very beginning, and a appearance of the gods at the very end. The entire majority of this story is two people traveling, making new human friends, and worrying about an impending attack. It’s nice that veterans are so heavily featured in this story, and that is this book’s only redeeming quality. Because while they are on the run ...more

Quite possibly one of the best starts to a series I encountered last year.

Brenna is a valkyrie, and as such, her duties lead her to reap the souls of brave warriors when they fall in battle. But Erik's soul is one she finds herself making an exception for, and thus is punished. Stripped of her powers, she's doomed to roam the Earth until she finds him again, and completes the task. And find him she does - but she still cannot do as she was ordered. Now it's a race against her sisters who have a
