Trek into the field with insect expert and National Geographic explorer Dr. Dino Martins to study all kinds of critters that creep, crawl, and fly to learn what exactly an entomologist does!
There are more than one million different kinds of insects in the world ... and curious kids seem to have just as many questions about them! That's why this book is set up in a kid-friendly question-and-answer format and has lots of wonderful images, too. Questions cover everything from "How do insects get their names? " to "How are insects helpful?" to answer all kinds of queries. Kids will learn how real scientists observe insects, capture them to study up close, and release them back into the wild.
This fun book is sure to inspire kids to go out and observe the creatures crawling in their own backyards!
'You Can Be an Entomologist: Investigating Insects with Dr. Martins' by Dino Martins is a very good book in the You Can Be a...series. Each book in the series focuses on an exciting career in Science and explains what that job involves. This book is about Entomology, the area of Science specialising in the study of Insects.
A very enjoyable book. Any children interested in Science should read this book.
Non-fiction. A lot of photographs. Explains entomologists, what they study, why and how they study. The author says he specializes in pollinators and the book definitely skews heavy on pollinators as opposed to other groups of insects, though that's not necessarily a bad thing.
A look at what it takes to be an entomologist, a scientist who studies insects. This book focuses on the facts, about pollinators. Very informative with pictures, and a glossary
3.25 Stars This was nice book and I love that it gives kids the tools to study bugs, insects etc. It is a very good book, but I don't think it is amazing and award winning! Having said that, I will probably get this book for my library as I think it has a lot of good science for kids.
